Shobhit, who hails from Kanpur, spent about one and a half years in an ashram as a monk. Under pressure from his parents, he returned home and got married. Today Shobhit is the owner of a toy and stationery brand with a turnover of Rs 120 crore. Shobhit Kumar Singh launched Stone Sapphire India Private Limited in 2016. The 'Make in India venture' company started marketing children's toys and stationery under its brand Scoodle.
Shobhit family background
Shobhit Kumar Singh hails from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh. In 1999, he did MBA in Finance from the same university before doing BA Honors in Economics from Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) in 1997. His first job was in a German software company in Delhi as an assistant manager.
His religious detour
From the very beginning, he was inclined towards spiritual and philosophical life and studied various religions. This includes Vedic management programs, Islamic teachings and Christian theology. At a very tender age of 26 and after completing his MBA and then starting his career in a German software firm, Shobhit decided to renounce worldly life. He went to live as a sanyasi at Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's ashram in Rishikesh, where he spent about 18 months.
Parents' pressure
However, after about a year and a half, due to parental pressure, he left the sanyasi life and got married. His wife was from a business family of Vadodara, Gujarat. It was then that he entered the business world.
Shobhit Kumar Singh has played a key role in making Stone Sapphire India Pvt. Ltd with a promising turnover of Rs 120 crore. He laid its foundation in 2016. The company started with children's 'art and culture kit'. Then expanded its range to stationery, toys, games and home products.
Shobhit's achievements
Shobhit has more than 500 SKUs (stock-keeping units). He has acquired licenses for many famous international brands like Play-doh, My Little Pony, Playskool, Barbie, Hot Wheels, Marvel, Fisher-Price, Disney etc. The company has a wide distribution network across India, reaching more than 30,000 stores. Schloss Bangalore , the operator of The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts, reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 9 crore in Q1 versus a loss of Rs 75 crore in the year ago period. The company's revenue grew 20% year-on-year at Rs 275 crore against Rs 228 crore reported in the year-ago period. The profit after tax (PAT) fell 92% on a sequential basis versus Rs 117 crore reported in Q4FY25. The topline fell 35% compared to Rs 425 crore posted in the January-March quarter of FY25. Punjab government rolls out Land Pooling policy; promises farmer welfare and higher compensation CHANDIGARH: Punjab government has rolled out a new policy for farmers' welfare that aims to prioritise partnership and transparency through its Land Pooling model. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government has introduced a land pooling model under which farmers receive annual compensation of Rs 1 lakh, five times more than the Rs 20,000 previously given. In addition to the revised amount, the policy includes a 10% annual increment in the rental sum. Farmers joining the scheme also receive an upfront payment of Rs 50,000. Upon enrollment, farmers receive a Rs 50,000 advance cheque for the first year and a Letter of Intent (LOI) within just 21 days. Until development begins on the pooled land, farmers retain full possession and can continue agricultural activities. The government will continue to deposit the ₹1 lakh annually into their accounts during this period. Officials claim the new model eliminates the need for middlemen and reduces opportunities for corruption, offering what is described as a direct and transparent approach. The land pooling model also alters the traditional equation between farmers and urban developers. Rather than being sidelined as land providers, farmers are being positioned as stakeholders in the development process. Initial response to the scheme has seen participation from more than 50 farmers in Mohali. In Patiala, over 150 acres were pooled voluntarily in the first week. Similar interest has reportedly been seen in Amritsar, Moga, Sangrur, Jalandhar, Nawanshahr, Hoshiarpur, Tarn Taran, Fazilka, Kapurthala, and Bathinda. AAP government's policy is built on consent, without forcible acquisition. Government officials say it aims to provide fair and consistent compensation while involving farmers in the development process.
