Devotees participate in ‘Aashada Saare' ritual at Indrakeeladri
The Aashada Saare festivities commenced with a ceremonial procession. The processional idol was carried in a grand procession from the sanctum to the sixth-floor Maha Mandapam. The temple's executive officer, V.K. Seena Naik, and his family led the ritual by offering the first saare, accompanied by temple staff and their families. The saare, symbolic of a daughter's gift to her maternal home, was presented with traditional offerings and distributed to devotees.
Large number of devotees from across the State participated in the event, receiving free prasadam and blessings from the priests.
Adding to the spiritual significance, Andhra Pradesh Home Minister V. Anitha also visited the temple in the morning. After offering her saare to the goddess, she received darshan and blessings in the Maha Mandapam, with temple officials formally welcoming her.
The day's events reflected a vibrant confluence of devotion, tradition, and culture, further enriching the spiritual aura of Indrakeeladri during the sacred month of Aashada.
In the evening, the temple hosted a cultural offering titled 'Jagannmata Ku Nritya Kalaarchana', featuring a devotional Kuchipudi recital by 20 students from the Sri Abhinaya Kuchipudi Academy in Hyderabad. Under the guidance of renowned dance guru Urvashi Satish, the dancers performed in perfect rhythm to devotional hymns in the newly developed Rajagopuram Mandapam. The temple authorities later honoured the troupe with prasadam and special darshan of the goddess.
Kanaka Durga temple authorities have made preparations for the auspicious 'Ashada Masam Utsavams', which began on Thursday and will continue till July 24. The temple authorities expect a large number of devotees during the occasion. Multiple festivities have been lined up in honour of Goddess Kanaka Durga. Apart from the Ashada saare, the 'Varahi Navratri' (Gupta Navratri) will be observed from June 26 to July 4, followed by the 'Sakambari Devi Utsavams' from July 8 to 10.

1 2 Vijayawada: Dasara festivities at the Kanaka Durga temple atop Indrakeeladri Hill in Vijayawada will be held on a grand note from September 22 to October 2 for 11 days, said temple executive officer (EO) VK Seena Naik. During this period, the presiding deity, goddess Kanaka Durga, will be adorned in 11 different avatars and bless devotees at the temple. Unveiling the invitation poster at Indrakeeladari on Monday, Seena Naik said that the Dasara festivities of the Sri Viswavasu Nama Samvatsara will commence on September 22. On this day, goddess Kanaka Durga will be adorn as Bala Tripura Sundari Devi and bless devotees. The festivities will conclude on October 2, commemorating Vijaya Dasami, the final day of the 11-day Dasara festivities, when the goddess will be adorned as Rajarajeswari Devi. "Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu will present silk robes to the presiding deity, Kanaka Durga Devi, on Moola Nakshetram on September 29, marking the birthday of the goddess, who will bless devotees as goddess Saraswathi Devi," the EO said. He further added that Maha Purnahuthi will be performed at 9:30 am on the last day of the 11-day festivities. Kanaka Durga temple gears up for month-long Shravana Masam celebrations
Vijayawada: The iconic Kanaka Durga temple atop Indrakeeladri in Vijayawada is gearing up for the month-long Shravana Masam (Telugu month Shravanam) celebrations, scheduled from July 26 to August 24. Temple's executive officer (EO) Seena Nayak announced that elaborate arrangements are underway to facilitate smooth darshan and participation of thousands of devotees during the auspicious Telugu month. The EO highlighted that after Dasara, the Shravanam celebrations are the second-most significant festival at the temple. Special pujas will be held every Tuesday and Friday, with a major focus on the grand Varalakshmi Vratham . On the second Friday of Shravanam month, falling on August 8, the presiding deity, goddess Kanaka Durga, will be specially adorned in the form of goddess Varalakshmi, and the Varalakshmi Vratham will be performed in solitude within the sanctum. Around 40,000 devotees are expected for darshan that day and elaborate arrangements will be made. In a major attraction, the temple is organizing a free Varalakshmi Vratham on August 22, the fifth Friday of Shravan. This large-scale event is expected to draw nearly 2,000 women devotees. To manage the turnout effectively, prior registration has been made mandatory. All registered participants will receive free prasad and pooja material. The EO further stated that special festivities will be conducted from August 8 to 10, including garland offerings and traditional rituals. Another highlight is the Sri Krishna Janmashtami celebrations, to be held on August 16, which includes elaborate pujas and a ceremonial cow worship in the evening. To ease crowd management, the temple authorities have urged devotees to book darshan tickets in advance and avoid last-minute rush during weekends and festival days. "We are committed to provide hassle free darshan to devotees. The auspicious month of Sravanam will be observed with utmost devotion. Vijayawada: In a proactive move to enhance safety at the Kanaka Durga temple at Indrakeeladri, temple authorities initiated comprehensive fire safety measures to protect the thousands of devotees who visit daily. Temple executive officer VK Seena Nayak held a crucial meeting with fire safety officials at the temple premises on Monday, following a written request seeking expert assistance to prevent fire accidents, especially in sensitive areas such as the Maha Mandapam, kitchens, and laddu and annadanam preparation zones. With daily footfalls running into thousands, and festival crowds expected to cross one lakh devotees, officials emphasised the urgent need for robust fire prevention strategies. A team of fire officers, along with the temple engineering staff, conducted a detailed inspection of the Indrakeeladri temple premises on July 11. The team submitted their findings and recommendations during Monday's meeting.
