Nitish slams oppn for protests in black attire

Time of Indiaa day ago
Patna: CM
Nitish Kumar
on Friday expressed strong displeasure over the continuing protest by members of the five-party Grand Alliance (GA), who have been donning black attire for the past three days to oppose the special intensive revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls being conducted by the
Election Commission
in the state.
The CM reacted sharply to the renewed protests which erupted soon after the Bihar assembly convened for the morning session. The opposition legislators, dressed in black, first stood at their seats demanding the withdrawal of the SIR and then proceeded to the well of the House. Leader of opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav was not present during the session.
Pointing at the opposition members, the CM said, "Look at them, these people who are creating 'hangama' (ruckus) in the House and what kind of clothes they have put on. These parties are all together, they have put on clothes of one colour." Addressing the women opposition MLAs, he added, "Did you ever wear such clothes that you have put on now?"
The CM added, "It has become clear that these different parties (of the GA) in the opposition have nothing else to do.
They don't know what and how much work my govt has done. It has benefited all."
"I have been looking at you all (for the last three days). You all have come together. These parties, which are different, but have come together and have also been wearing clothes of one colour. They are doing just 'ulta-pulta kaam' (senseless acts). Do you know how much work has been done?" the CM asked.
He went on, "What have you done, you all have come to the House wearing black clothes.

It had never happened in the past. It used to happen occasionally, but today they all are one," he said, sounding visibly weary. When someone seated in the front row of the treasury benches quietly urged him to sit down, the CM responded with a remark before finally taking his seat.
Despite the intervention, the protests continued unabated. The Speaker was compelled to adjourn the morning session just seven minutes after it began. As a result, the time allocated for question hour, zero hour and calling attention notices was lost.
In the post-lunch session, the Speaker directed that all written replies submitted by the govt in response to the listed questions be deemed as read on the floor of the House and entered into the official record.

Laxman accuses Cong of neglecting backward classes

Mysuru: MP and national president of the BJP Backward Classes Morcha, K Laxman, alleged that the Congress , which ruled the country for over 50 years, did nothing for the development of backward classes. He also opposed the Telangana model caste census. Speaking at a seminar on caste census organised by the Social Justice Awareness Forum, Mysuru division, he accused the Congress of discarding reports submitted by various commissions aimed at uplifting backward classes economically, socially, and educationally. Laxman claimed that former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, who governed for 17 years, ignored the Kaka Kalelkar Commission report, which recommended reservations in employment and education for backward classes. He further alleged that subsequent Congress leaders, including Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi, followed suit by neglecting these reports, effectively throwing them into the dustbin. He also accused the Congress of rejecting the Mandal Commission report. Targeting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah, Laxman claimed they portray themselves as champions of backward classes while betraying them. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like If A Cat Bites Their Owner Heres What It Really Means Gloriousa Undo He alleged that Rahul Gandhi's DNA reflects opposition to backward classes, pointing to the Congress govt's rejection of the Kantharaju Commission report in Karnataka, which led to a loss of Rs 165 crore in taxpayers' money. Laxman criticised Rahul Gandhi's suggestion to conduct a caste census in Karnataka on the lines of Telangana. In Telangana, Muslims were included in the backward classes list, increasing the reservation to 52%, which he described as an injustice to genuine backward classes. He urged that the Telangana model should not be followed in Karnataka under any circumstances.

Cong govt claims guarantee schemes improve per capita income in K'taka

Hassan: Claiming BJP is ignorant about understanding economics, chief minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday claimed that owing to five guarantee schemes implemented by the Congress govt, Karnataka today is at number one position in per capita income in India. He was addressing the gathering after launching several development programmes in Arasikere, Hassan, on Saturday. The chief minister claimed that the main reason for this achievement is the increased purchasing power of the people. "Our guarantee schemes are a major reason for this increase in purchasing power. BJP members do not understand economics, which is why they falsely claim that the state govt lacks funds for development and are spreading misinformation," he charged. Despite attempts to mislead the people with politically motivated lies, the public will not be deceived, said Siddaramaiah, adding the govt has spent Rs 1.2 lakh crores on development projects and Rs 56k crores on guarantee schemes. Siddaramaiah also said that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi clarified his understanding of backward communities during a conference of backward classes in Delhi. He explained that the Congress govt has formulated programmes needed to uplift backward classes, women, Dalits, and the oppressed from all communities. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like TV providers are furious: this gadget gives you access to all channels Techno Mag Learn More Undo Congress is the only party that formulates and implements programmes for social justice and the progress of the poor, fulfilling constitutional values.
