AVEVA recognises that its biggest opportunity to make a positive climate impact is through its core products and customers. For the first time, the company has released an annual saved and avoided emissions figure, reflecting the material energy savings observed for a specific portion of its products. AVEVA is committed to refining and expanding this calculation of measurable saved and avoided emissions over time.
'As we enter the final year of our 2025 targets, we're focused on meeting our goals and chartering an even bolder path with our sustainability framework. We know that the biggest impact comes from our software handprint – how we work with our customers to enable them to drive decarbonisation, become more resilient and support circularity. This is why we're publicly reporting our 2024 customer saved and avoided emissions data for select industry sectors. We're committed to expanding our methodology to capture and quantify our broader impact. At AVEVA, we are continuing to advance towards a sustainable future, driving digital transformation through our software and leading by example with responsible operations,' adds Lisa Wee, CSO, AVEVA.

Egypt Declares Thursday Paid Public Holiday to Mark July 23 Revolution Anniv.

Ahmed Emam The Egyptian government announced that Thursday, July 24, 2025, will be a paid public holiday, in lieu of Wednesday, July 23, to mark the anniversary of the 1952 July 23 Revolution. The move aligns with a Cabinet decision to shift official holidays to the end of the week to provide extended breaks for workers. According to the Prime Minister's Decree No. 2474 of 2025, the holiday will be granted to employees across ministries, public authorities, state administrative bodies, public sector companies, and public business sector enterprises. The private sector will also observe the holiday under the provisions of Egyptian Labor Law No. 12 of 2003. The Ministry of Labor issued Circular No. 15 of 2025, clarifying that private sector workers covered by the labor law are entitled to a fully paid day off on Thursday, July 24. The decision is made in accordance with Article 52 of the labor law, which grants employees paid leave on official public holidays as determined by the competent minister. The circular emphasized that employers may require employees to work on the holiday if necessary for business operations. In such cases, workers are entitled to double their standard pay for the day, in addition to their regular wage. The Ministry urged all central administration heads and labor directorates across the country to implement the circular at workplaces and production sites and ensure full compliance with its provisions. The July 23 holiday commemorates the 1952 revolution led by the Free Officers Movement, which ended the monarchy and laid the foundations of modern republican Egypt. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks

UN Report Calls for Urgent Shift to Clean Energy in 'Moment of Opportunity

Ahmed Emam The United Nations has released a major new report urging immediate global action to accelerate the transition from fossil fuels to clean energy, describing the current moment as a historic opportunity to reshape the world's energy systems for the better. Titled 'Seizing the Moment of Opportunity: Supercharging the New Energy Era of Renewables, Efficiency, and Electrification,' the report was prepared by the UN Secretary-General's Climate Action Team, with the support of UN specialized agencies, funds, programs, and leading international institutions. It offers a comprehensive overview of the global energy landscape and makes the case for why a rapid shift toward renewables, electrification, and energy efficiency is not only necessary, but economically and socially beneficial. UN Secretary-General António Guterres launched the report in a special address delivered at 9:00 a.m. ET, highlighting what he called a 'hopeful story' emerging from the global climate crisis — the rise of a new energy era. He described the decline of fossil fuels as both inevitable and essential, and emphasized the vast economic and humanitarian benefits of embracing clean energy systems. 'The future is clear,' Guterres said. 'The only question is whether we move fast enough to meet it.' The report outlines the global imperative to scale up renewable energy infrastructure, electrify key sectors such as transportation and heating, and improve energy efficiency across the board. It stresses the need for bold leadership and international cooperation to ensure that the transition is inclusive and equitable, particularly for developing countries most vulnerable to climate change and energy poverty. In his address, the Secretary-General called on governments, industry leaders, and financial institutions to act swiftly and decisively. He warned that the window for meaningful action is closing fast, but insisted that the tools and technologies needed to drive transformation are already within reach. 'This is not just a climate emergency — it is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to reshape our economies, improve lives, and build a future powered by clean and affordable energy,' Guterres said. The report is expected to play a central role in upcoming international climate discussions and will serve as a foundation for mobilizing greater investment and political will ahead of the COP30 summit in Brazil in 2026. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks

Egypt's Non-Oil Trade Deficit Narrows as Exports Surge in Q1 2025: Cabinet Report

Ahmed Emam The Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) of Egypt's Cabinet has released the 17th edition of its quarterly report on non-oil merchandise exports, offering an in-depth analysis of Egypt's non-oil trade balance for the period spanning Q1 2024 to Q1 2025. According to the report, Egypt's non-oil trade deficit shrank to $5.6 billion in the first quarter of 2025, down from $6.4 billion in Q1 2024—marking a 12.5% decrease. The improvement is attributed to a significant rise in non-oil merchandise exports, which outpaced the growth in imports. Egypt's non-oil exports climbed to $13 billion during Q1 2025, up from $9.7 billion in the same quarter last year, reflecting a robust year-on-year growth of 34%. Meanwhile, non-oil imports increased to $18.6 billion from $16.1 billion, representing a 15.5% rise over the same period. The report also highlighted quarter-on-quarter progress. Non-oil exports in Q1 2025 grew by 17.1% compared to Q4 2024, when export value stood at $11.1 billion. Among Egypt's top export groups, 'Natural or Cultured Pearls and Precious Stones' led in value, reaching approximately $2.9 billion in Q1 2025—a dramatic surge from $305.3 million in Q1 2024. This group alone accounted for 22.4% of Egypt's total non-oil exports, up from just 3.1% a year earlier, making it the only group among the top ten export categories to increase its relative weight. In contrast, several other major export categories saw a decline in their export share. These included: >> Edible fruits and nuts (from 8.9% to 6.6%) >> Iron and steel (from 5.3% to 3.3%) >> lPlastics and plastic products (from 6.6% to 4.8%) >> Vegetables and edible roots and tubers (from 7.1% to 5.4%) The report also includes an analysis of Egypt's trade balances with key global partners, though further details were not disclosed in the summary. This latest edition underscores Egypt's improving trade performance and diversification of its export base—driven notably by a surge in precious stones and jewelry exports—despite global economic headwinds. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks
