2025 MLB Home Run Derby participants ranked by most likely to win
The 2025 Home Run Derby is set to take place Monday at 8 p.m. ET at Truist Park in Atlanta, and with no past champions in the field of eight, we're guaranteed to have a new winner for the fourth year in a row.
In fact, only one of the participants has even been in a past derby, and that's Matt Olson of the home-town Braves, was last participated in 2021. So, there's perhaps even more unpredictability than usual with this field, which should make for an exciting finish.
Here's a ranking of the field along with odds on a winner from BetMGM.
8. Jazz Chisholm Jr. (+1400)
If Chisholm gets in a groove, he can be dangerous. It's just hard to project a strong finish in a field of superior power hitters.
7. Junior Caminero (+1000)
If nothing else, Caminero will be a ton of fun to watch in this competition. I'm just not sure the 22-year-old's swing is ready to go the distance.
6. Matt Olson (+550)
There have been other years I would have picked Olson to win the derby. This just doesn't feel like one of those years as Olson steps in as a replacement for injured teammate Ronald Acuña Jr.
5. Byron Buxton (+900)
With the second-longest home run hit in 2025, I'm confident saying Buxton will hit a ball to the stars in this competition. But will he get a hold of enough balls to keep up?

4. Brent Rooker (+900)
Rooker consistently hits the ball hard. It wouldn't be a surprise to see him walk away a winner as he trends towards a third-straight 30-homer season.
3. James Wood (+475)
With his opposite-field power, Wood easily has the lowest pull percentage of any player in this field. I have questions about how well that will bode in this kind of competition.
2. Oneil Cruz (+310)
Cruz has the best barrel and hard hit percentages of any player in the field, and leads the majors in average exit velocity. In a contest where he only has to worry about pitches up the middle, he's the betting favorite to win.

1. Cal Raleigh (+360)
Raleigh has five hits this month, and they've all been home runs. In other words, if he makes contact, there's a good chance the ball is leaving the park, which bodes well for MLB's home-run leader (38) in a derby.

2025 MLB All-Star Game to take place at Braves' home park after it was taken away over voting law controversy
The MLB All-Star Game will take place Tuesday night at Truist Park in Cumberland, Georgia, with the American League looking to continue its dominance over the National League. The American League has won 10 out of the last 11 games, not including the 2020 season in which the game was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. The National League won the game in 2023, but the American League rectified their loss last season in Arlington, Texas. This year, the game heads to the home of the Atlanta Braves. It's the first time the All-Star Game will be played in their stadium since they played at Turner Field in 2000. The Braves were initially supposed to host the 2021 All-Star Game at Truist Park, but it was removed over an uproar about a voting law the state passed. The Election Integrity Act of 2021 placed new restrictions on voting by mail, added voter ID requirements and limited ballot drop boxes. Then-President Joe Biden criticized the law as "Jim Crow on steroids." On Monday, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp praised MLB for returning the game to Atlanta and creating economic opportunities for businesses in the city. "We're excited about the game finally being here. It should have been here several years ago. They never should have pulled it to start with, but thankfully the game's coming back," Kemp said in an appearance on "Fox & Friends." "It's good for the Braves organization. It's good for all the vendors and small business people in and around the ballpark and in the city of Atlanta up in Cobb County and really for our whole state." The law is presently still in place as the baseball world descends on the city. As far as the game goes, reigning American League Cy Young pitcher Tarik Skubal, of the Detroit Tigers, is set to start against National League Rookie of the Year, Pittsburgh Pirates star Paul Skenes. New York Yankees' All-Star Max Fried handed Skubal the opportunity to start the game as he felt that Skubal had earned the honor. Read below for the projected starters of the American and National League teams. American League National League The American League will be managed by the Yankees' Aaron Boone. The Dodgers' Dave Roberts will manage the National League. The MLB All-Star Game will be played on FOX at 8 p.m. ET. Full coverage begins at 7 p.m. ET. Francisco Lindor, Mets All-Stars booed by Atlanta crowd at 2025 All-Star Game
Francisco Lindor knew the type of reception he would get for the 2025 All-Star Game, and the Atlanta crowd did not disappoint. After alluding to it leading into the All-Star break, the fans at Truist Park greeted the Mets' shortstop and his teammates to a chorus of boos. Advertisement During the introductions for the All-Star Game reserves and pitchers, once Pete Alonso, David Peterson and Edwin Diaz were introduced, the crowd booed them. Alonso reveled in the boos and gave a big wave to the Atlanta crowd. Lindor, hitting eighth in the starting lineup, was introduced with the rest of the National League All-Star starters and received even bigger boos after he was introduced as "Mr. Smiles." The Mets shortstop gave a big smile and gave peace signs as he ran onto the field. Lindor voted an All-Star starter for the first time in a Mets uniform and the reception isn't too surprising considering the heated rivalry between the Mets and Braves. The All-Stars from the Marlins and Nationals were not greeted as enthusiastically.
