Woman, 20, arrested for murder of 3-month-old baby in Limpopo village
A 20-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly choking a 3-month-old baby to death. The police were notified of the child's death on Friday evening after two people took the child to a clinic in Vleifontein in the Vhembe District of Limpopo, according to police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba. The two people told police that they were at a house in the area along with the 20-year-old woman, who was holding the baby. The woman went inside, and when they went to check on her, they caught her choking the baby. They intervened and rushed the little boy to the clinic, but it was too late. 'A case of murder was immediately opened, and the suspect was traced and subsequently apprehended for the murder of a 3-month-old victim. The motive behind the incident is unknown,' Ledwaba added. The woman, who is a relative of the deceased, will appear in the Makhado Magistrate's Court on a charge of murder.

Traditional healer arrested after heads of woman and her 2-year-old daughter found
A Limpopo traditional healer faces two murder charges after he was found in possession of two human heads - those of a 34-year-old Limpopo woman and her 2-year-old daughter. Rendani Tshigwil and her daughter, Ndingatshilidzi Muronga, went missing in May. According to police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, police initially arrested two people on Wednesday after police found them in possession of the decapitated bodies of Tshigwil and her daughter. The two people, Tshilidzi Phalandwa, 43, and Balangani Sedzani Tshivhombedze, 32, appeared in the Thohoyandou Magistrate's Court on Friday and the case was postponed for further investigation to 12 August. During an operation on Friday to find the missing heads, the traditional healer was arrested. A 55-year-old man was also taken into custody for his alleged role in the murders. The man and the traditional healer are expected to appear in the same court on Monday.

Ukrainian officials arrested in ‘large scale' drone bribery scheme
At least four Ukrainian officials have been arrested in a 'large-scale corruption scheme' involving the purchase of drones designed to defend Kyiv against Russia, President Volodymyr Zelensky said. Just three days after Zelensky restored the independence of Ukrainian's top anti-corruption agencies following fierce public backlash, the prez said the National Anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine and the Specialized Anti-corruption Prosecutor's Office unveiled a plot by a sitting lawmaker, two local officials and several national guard service members to skim money meant to defend their nation. 'The essence of the scheme was to conclude state contracts with supplier companies at deliberately inflated prices,' the agencies added Saturday in a statement, noting the kickbacks to the officials were up to 30% of the contracts' inflated costs. Drones have proven to be key to Ukraine's attacks on Moscow, too, with the majority of Ukrainian attacks on Russian military assets involving UAVs, including a recent overnight strike on an oil depot. 'There can only be zero tolerance for corruption. The agencies have previously targeted some of Zelensky's close allies, including former Deputy Minister Oleksiy Chernyshov, with the cases often causing major shakeups in Kyiv while its leadership tries to focus on the war. Critics have warned Zelensky that ongoing corruption undermines Ukraine's ability to fight back against Russia, as well as threatens the country's hopes of joining the European Union.
