Israeli airstrikes target Eastern Lebanon
Israeli warplanes launched a series of airstrikes on Monday in Lebanon's eastern Beqaa Valley, targeting areas near Baalbek in what the Israeli military described as strikes against Hezbollah.
According to the Israeli army, the raids hit multiple sites near the Syrian border, an area it considers a stronghold of Hezbollah. Unlike Lebanon's south, which has seen near-daily exchanges of fire since October 2023, eastern regions such as the Beqaa Valley have rarely been attacked since the November ceasefire.

Lebanese media reported that Israel carried out more than 15 strikes, including three on the mountainous outskirts of Buday and Brital, located in the Anti-Lebanon range. Additional strikes targeted the towns of Nahle and the outskirts of Shmustar.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or material damage.
The Israeli military said the targeted locations were used by the Radwan Force, an elite Hezbollah unit responsible for operations along the Israeli-Lebanese border.

Since the ceasefire agreement in November, Lebanese authorities have recorded over 3,900 Israeli violations of Lebanese territory, including airspace breaches, artillery shelling, and cross-border attacks.

Shafaq News – Damascus The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced on Wednesday the signing of a comprehensive agreement with local representatives in Suwayda aimed at restoring security, ending internal conflict, and fully integrating the province into the framework of the Syrian state. The agreement includes a 14-point plan addressing ceasefire arrangements, re-establishment of state authority, and mechanisms for civil and institutional reintegration. According to the official text, the provisions are as follows: 1. Immediate and comprehensive ceasefire for all military operations, with a commitment from all parties to halt escalation or any form of attack on security forces and checkpoints. 2. Formation of a joint monitoring committee comprising representatives from the Syrian state and Suwayda dignitaries to supervise the implementation of the ceasefire and ensure compliance. 3. Deployment of state-affiliated security checkpoints in Suwayda city and surrounding areas, with participation from local police officers, to strengthen security and protect civilians. 4. Appointment of qualified and respected individuals from Suwayda to take on leadership and executive responsibilities in the province's civil administration. 5. Respect for the sanctity of homes and private properties, with a pledge to prohibit any violations or harassment throughout urban and rural areas of Suwayda. 6. Agreement on a mechanism to regulate the possession of medium and heavy weapons, in cooperation with the Ministries of Interior and Defense, including removal of arms outside state authority and coordination with social and religious leaders while respecting Suwayda's local and religious particularities. 7. Full integration of Suwayda into the Syrian state, reaffirming national sovereignty over all provincial territory and restoring the authority of state institutions. 8. Reactivation of all state institutions across Suwayda, ensuring compliance with national laws and administrative regulations. 9. Safeguarding citizens' rights through the application of legal principles, ensuring justice and equality among all Syrian societal components, and promoting civil peace. 10. Establishment of a joint investigative committee to uncover the facts surrounding crimes and violations, identify perpetrators, compensate victims, and ensure swift judicial procedures under existing legal frameworks. 11. Securing the Damascus–Suwayda road by state forces to guarantee the safety of travelers. 12. Turkiye urges international pressure on Israel after airstrikes on Syria
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on Wednesday condemned Israel's recent airstrikes on Syria's capital, Damascus, and the southern province of Suwayda, warning that the escalation threatens regional stability. Speaking to reporters in New York during the informal 'Expanded Format Meeting on Cyprus,' Fidan accused Tel Aviv of pursuing a long-standing policy of regional destabilization without regard for sovereignty, international norms, or civilian life. 'Israel must abandon its destabilizing policies before it's too late — this is not only dangerous for the region but for Israel itself,' Fidan said. 'The United States, the European Union, and regional countries must all tell Israel to stop. Otherwise, it is likely that undesirable consequences will emerge in the region.' Turkiye, he said, remains in close dialogue with Jordan, Saudi Arabia, the United States, and other key players, and has delivered its concerns directly to Israeli officials through intelligence channels. The Turkish top official reiterated Ankara's rejection of any effort to divide Syria through isolated zones of control, warning that such moves would prolong the conflict. 'Small zones of influence built in contradiction to the will of Syria's central authority will only ensure the continuation of chaos,' he said. 'We are working with our close partners in the region — and with the US — and we hope that in the next few hours we can move toward calm and a ceasefire.' Earlier, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs described Israel's strikes on Damascus as 'an act of sabotage against Syria's efforts to secure peace, stability, and security.' In an official statement, the ministry said, 'The Syrian people now have a historic opportunity to live in peace and integrate with the world. All stakeholders committed to seizing this opportunity must contribute to the Syrian administration's efforts to establish calm.'
