Cops confirm nudity at controversial ‘love programme'

Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan urged all individuals involved with the eHati marriage motivation programme to come forward to give their statements.
SHAH ALAM : Police have confirmed that the controversial eHati marriage motivation programme held last year featured an activity involving nudity.
Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan said the nudity-related acts took place during the 'Queens Night' segment on the final day of the programme, held from Sept 27 to 30, 2024.
'There were two packages offered as part of the programme – Package A, priced at about RM6,000, and Package B, at about RM9,000, which included the Queens Night,' he told a press conference at the state police headquarters here today.
This follows claims by a Facebook user alleging that a female speaker, initially dressed in a bikini, had stripped naked and danced with participants during the event's final night.
They allegedly encouraged participants to follow suit, and remove their clothes after giving them a 'mysterious' drink.
Hussein urged those involved in the programme to come forward and give their statements.
He said six people have been arrested so far, comprising four women and two men, including two married couples.
Police also seized several items, including liquids, as part of their investigation.
Statements have also been recorded from 30 people, including the event's organisers and participants.
Yesterday, police arrested Diyana Tahir and Rahim Shukor, the founders of eHati International Sdn Bhd, and raided their home after they gave their statements at the police headquarters.
The couple previously denied promoting obscene acts and insulting behaviour in their eHati marriage motivation programme, saying the activities were aligned with Islamic values.
Police are investigating the programme under criminal laws covering obscene acts, modesty, and public decency.

Cosmetics marketing assistant charged with sexually abusing stepdaughters

ALOR GAJAH: A cosmetics marketing assistant was charged in the Sessions Court here today with committing physical and non-physical sexual abuse against his two stepdaughters, aged five and six, since May. The accused, a 27-year-old divorcee, pleaded not guilty to all charges and claimed trial before judge Aiza Khairuddin. For the first and second charges, he was accused of physically abusing the two girls in a bedroom and bathroom of a house here at night between May 11 and July 5. He was charged under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act (SOACA) 2017, which provides for a maximum 20-year jail term and whipping upon conviction. The accused also faces another charge under Section 15(a)(i) of the same Act for non-physical abuse by exposing his genitals to the two victims in the kitchen of the same house on the same dates. If found guilty, this section carries a maximum jail term of 10 years or a fine of up to RM20,000, or both. Deputy public prosecutor Muhamad Ali Hussain appeared for the prosecution, while the accused was represented by Mohd Anif Rafih. The prosecution proposed bail at RM20,000 for all charges with one surety, along with conditions that the accused must report to the nearest police station once a month during the first week and refrain from contacting prosecution witnesses, including the victims. However, Mohd Anif requested that bail be set at RM12,000, citing his client's low income of RM2,000 a month as an online marketing assistant for cosmetic products. "The accused is also financially supporting both victims and his biological child, aged two, who is currently under the care of his mother in Pendang, Kedah. "My client has no objection to the additional bail conditions and promises not to disturb the victims," he said. The court then set bail at RM15,000 with one surety and imposed the additional conditions sought by the prosecution. Mention has been fixed for Aug 25.

Op Curi Air: Illegal water connection uncovered at Mantin farm

NILAI: The National Water Services Commission (SPAN) enforcement division raided a vegetable farm in Mantin late Tuesday night for allegedly stealing treated water. In a statement today, SPAN said the farm had made an illegal pipe connection to draw water for use on the premises and in its workers' quarters. "SPAN, together with Syarikat Air Negeri Sembilan Sdn Bhd (Sains), carried out Op Curi Air at a farm suspected of illegally tapping into the water supply network. "Checks revealed an unauthorised connection made without the operator's permission. "The illegal tapping was done directly from a pipe connected to a Sains meter," the statement read. Chlorine tests confirmed that the water was treated and supplied by the operator for use in farm operations and the workers' quarters. The case is being investigated under Section 89(9) of the Water Services Industry Act 2006 (Act 655), which carries a maximum fine of RM50,000, imprisonment of up to six months, or both, upon conviction. SPAN warned that unauthorised tapping of treated water is a serious offence and would result in legal action. "Further action, including cutting off the connection and a full investigation, will follow. "The public is urged to notify their local water operator if they detect any suspicious activity involving illegal water connections or the theft of treated water. "Reports or information on water pollution can be submitted via (SPAN's sisMAS system)," it added.
