Yahoo5 days ago
Scottie Scheffler has ascended to a level that few other professional golfers have before.
His three majors wins, including two at The Masters, can only be matched by some of the sport's most well-known stars, and he just keeps going. Each time a major comes around, it's become an expectation that Scheffler will be in contention.
When he does come out on top, the American star can often be seen celebrating with his family, including his wife and young son.

Scottie Scheffler wife: Meredith Scudder
Long before Scottie Scheffler became world No. 1 in golf, he met his future wife, Meredith Scudder, in high school. Both being from Dallas, they began dating their senior year at Highland Park High School.
"I had to woo her for a few years," Scheffler said with a laugh in 2023.
While they met in high school, the couple spent some time apart in college. While Meredith attended Texas A&M, Scottie Scheffler went to the University of Texas, and they dated from a distance for all four years.
'At the beginning of high school I always thought he had a super humble ambiance about him, that he was just a really down-to-earth guy that doesn't take himself too seriously,' Meredith told Golf Digest of Scottie. 'Even when he had amazing accomplishments, that wasn't the most important thing about him.'
The couple got married in December 2020. Photos from the wedding can be seen in Scheffler's 2023 anniversary Instagram post:
Meredith is also in charge of curating opportunities for Behind Every Door (BED), a faith-based nonprofit which provides sport, educational and creative programs for youth in underdeveloped neighborhoods in the Dallas area.
"I believe everyone has unique gifting. I love being part of an organization that is showing kids their giftings and giving them a chance to not only discover those gifts but see who God created them to be," Scudder told Veritex Community Bank for Essential Golf.
Meredith can often be seen supporting Scottie Scheffler at his tournaments, whether walking the course with him or celebrating his wins.
Scottie Scheffler son: Bennett Scheffler
Scottie and Meredith Scheffler welcomed a son, Bennett, in May 2024.
"Welcome to the world little one," Scheffler wrote in an Instagram post. "Your mom & dad love you so much."
"I can't really describe the feeling of dreaming of just coming and playing on the PGA Tour, to be sitting at home with the girl I dated in high school with our child and then the Green Jacket sitting in the closet is a pretty insane feeling, and I just wanted to be as thankful as possible," Scheffler said after his son was born, per National Club Golfer.

Scottie Scheffler mother: Diane Scheffler
Scheffler's mother is Diane Scheffler, who grew up in Park Ridge, New Jersey. Until Scheffler was six years old, the family lived in New Jersey, where his father is also from. They later moved to Dallas.
Scheffler said in 2023 that growing up, his mom was the one "who was working and supporting our family financially, which I would say is a little bit different." She worked as a business manager at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP & Affiliates in the 1980s, according to People, then later became a Chief Operating Officer at various law firms, including Thompson & Knight LLP, Troutman Sanders LLP and Foley Hoag LLP. Currently, she is a consultant for Scout's East Coast Ranch in New York City.
In his 2024 Masters speech, Scheffler thanked both of his parents.
"To my parents, thank you for taking me to way too many golf tournaments as a kid. I love y'all both very much," he said. "I can't put into words what it means to have your support out here, win or lose. I love y'all."
Scottie Scheffler father: Scott Scheffler
Scheffler's father, Scott Scheffler, is from Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey. He was a carpenter and stay-at-home dad throughout Scottie's youth, and he played a role in the star golfer's interest in the sport as a kid, including taking him to the driving range and with Diane, eventually getting Scottie access to Royal Oaks Country Club in Dallas.
Because of Diane's job, Scott was often the one at home, which Scottie told AP in 2022 that he "didn't know any different."
"It's just what you do as a father for your children ... I've done for all of them. They've given us great joy," Scott Scheffler told AP in 2022. "[Scottie's] the one that did all the hard work, not me. I just raised him and tried the best I could to be a good dad.'
Scott Scheffler, who often watches his sons tournaments in-person alongside Diane, has spoken of his son's accomplishments plenty of times in the past.
'I used to wonder, 'Can Scottie really be that good at his craft, at the game of golf?' And he is. He truly has been given a gift and he uses it," Scott told the New York Post in April 2023. "It does surprise me ... He's my child. He's my son. Sometimes you just say to yourself, 'Wow.' '

Scottie Scheffler sisters: Callie, Molly, and Sara
Scheffler has three sisters, the oldest of whom is Callie. She was born in 1994, while Scottie was born in 1996.
'[Callie] was the classic first child. She felt a responsibility to look after her younger brother when she caddied for him in all those big junior tournaments," Scottie's manager, Rocky Hambric, told Power Fades of Callie and Scottie in April 2023.
When Scottie competed in the 2016 U.S. Open as an amateur, Callie was his caddie. She played collegiate golf at Texas A&M, and Callie now has two children with her husband, Andrew.
Diane and Scott also welcomed two more daughters, Molly and Sara. Molly, who also went to Texas A&M, now works for the PGA Tour as a communications specialist, per her LinkedIn. More specifically, she currently works in "Player & Agent Communications."
Sara, like Scottie, graduated from the University of Texas and recently got married.

Cowboys HC Schottenheimer ID'd as one of NFL's most under-pressure people in 2025

Brian Schottenheimer wasn't the most talked-about coaching hire of 2025, but he may be under more pressure than any of them. Head coach of the Dallas Cowboys is arguably one of the most intensely scrutinized jobs in all of sports. Heading into the 2025 season, that challenge goes to Brian Schottenheimer, named the 10th head coach in franchise history in January, after Dallas parted ways with Mike McCarthy following a five-year run that concluded with a 7-10 finish last season. No matter who roams the sidelines for Dallas, winning a Super Bowl is something no Dallas coach has been able to accomplish in three decades. Adding to the pressure is the feeling the current window could be close to shutting when considering the team's All-Pro quarterback, Dak Prescott is just days away from his 32nd birthday and , coming off another major injury. Several of the team's notable players over the past five seasons have moved on, most recently future hall of fame guard Zack Martin who retired earlier this offseason. ESPN's Bill Barnwell reecently listed 15 players, coaches, or GMs under the most pressure in 2025, with Schottenheimer as one of four head coaches mentioned. "I've argued that Chicago's Ben Johnson is the most-hyped first-time hire with no prior head coaching experience in decades... On the other end of the spectrum is Schottenheimer, who is a decade removed from his last head coaching interview." Once seen as a hot coaching candidate during his time with the Chargers and Jets, "those rumors dried up," as he bounced around the league. Outside of a brief spark in Seattle during the first half of 2020, "there haven't been any hints that he was on radar as an NFL head coach." Still, "things have a funny way of resolving themselves," and after three seasons in Dallas, Schottenheimer "went through the interview process and won over team owner Jerry Jones." Now, he's leading the Cowboys, 'the league's highest-profile job,' despite a promotion that "didn't inspire much excitement." And while some might question the hire, history reminds that "we don't know much about head coaching hires or their chances of succeeding." Barnwell explains that for every uer-successful Sean McVay or Kyle Shanahan, there's a Adam Gase or Nathaniel Hackett cautionary tale. Schottenheimer 'might turn out to be a great coach. He might also be overmatched." Schottenheimer, the son of the late great Marty Schottenheimer, has long waited for this moment. His credentials, however, may not have carried much weight with critics who were stunned by the move. The 51-year-old head coach has had past stints as an offensive coordinator with the New York Jets, St. Louis Rams, Seattle Seahawks, and before becoming named head coach, was the OC of the Cowboys in 2023 and 2024. While the rookie head coach has shown flashes of promise, most notably during his run in Seattle from 2018 to 2020 when the Seahawks regularly ranked top 10 in red zone and scoring offense, his overall track record has told a different story. The 2020 season marked Russell Wilson's statistical peak, as he set career highs in completions (384), completion percentage (68.8), and touchdown passes (40) under Schottenheimer's guidance. His first season as offensive coordinator in Dallas brought similar highs: the Cowboys led the league in scoring, ranked third in passing yards, and finished second on third downs, while Prescott concluded that season second in MVP voting, finishing with a career high in completions, passer rating, and a league leading 36 touchdown passes. However, despite those standout campaigns, consistency has eluded him. Across 14 years as an NFL offensive coordinator, Schottenheimer has produced just one top-10 total offense finish, back in 2019 with Seattle. Now elevated to head coach, he'll be tasked with more than just calling plays and trying to help Dallas jump back into top 10 territory. The big question: can he help Prescott rediscover his 2023 form after an underwhelming and highly paid 2024 season that saw major regression in an offense that ranked 17th overall a season ago and saw a drop-off in yards and points. Dallas added several new pieces this past offseason most notably WR George Pickens via trade and rookie first round guard Tyler Booker, while revamping the backfield with three new faces. Schottenheimer brought in several new assistants to try and help steer the ship back into the right direction. Only time will tell how Jones' latest coaching experiment will go for the 2025 Cowboys and beyond. On one end, Schottenheimer could surprise the NFL world the same way Sean McVay and Dan Quinn did during their first seasons leading their respective teams, or things could fly south, and the pressure could mount up quickly not just for the head coach, but for Jones, who has been rather more patient with his last two head coaches, to evaluate his decision sooner rather than later. Scottie Scheffler kills Rory McIlroy battle cry stone dead as world's best brutally underlines his brilliance

Sizzling Scottie Scheffler silenced a partisan home crowd as chants backing home hero Rory McIlroy were swept straight into the Atlantic Ocean. Supporters in Portrush turned the dial up to 11 to back McIlroy for his final round but the brilliance of the World No.1 soon told as he raced out to a three under start as he closes in on his fourth major. McIlroy received a rock star ovation on the first tee in scenes akin to the reception players receive when starring in A-list team events such as the Ryder Cup. And the cries from the crowd continued onto the course but they had little effect on Scheffler who marched to the beat of his own tune. He said: Not to say it was a Ryder Cup atmosphere earlier but there were certainly a good number of "let's go Rory" shouts as Scottie Scheffler walked up the fairways. "Those have died off as that gap on the leaderboard grows between the world number one and the world number two." Scottie Scheffler ally insists he'll never be the same as Tiger Woods because he's missing one thing

Jordan Spieth insists Scottie Scheffler will never be the same as Tiger Woods. The World No.1 is racking-up milestones to match the 15-times major winner and drawing big comparisons from his peers. Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele and Shane Lowry were amongst those who talked about the historical context and sizzling nature of Scheffler's blistering current run. Spieth says his fellow Texan's his very differing traits and explained: "I think more so maybe it's less the golf swing and maybe more of his personality. He doesn't care to be a superstar. He's not transcending the game like Tiger did. He's not bringing it to a non-golf audience necessarily. 'He doesn't want to go do the stuff that a lot of us go do, corporately, anything like that. He just wants to get away from the game and separate the two because I know at one time, he felt it was too much, that he was taking it with him and, whenever he made that switch, I don't know what it was, but he has hobbies. 'He's always with his family. They're always doing stuff. I think it's more so the difference in personality from any other superstar that you've seen in the modern era and maybe in any sport. I don't think anybody is like him. 'He has that unique ability, from best I can tell, to separate. But again, when I see him, I'm at the golf course. I see him here and there off the course, but when we're playing on the course at home, he sh*t talks. He's very witty. You can't really go at him because he's smart and he's got good bulls***. 'I mean, it's not necessarily just to me. It's normally the other people that we're playing with. But not that I want to say it, I'm not going to quote him on that kind of stuff. 'But then when a tournament starts, he's incredibly competitive, as you see. He's kind of plotting along. You won't see that much emotion as he continues to strike it like this because the only time you're going to see it is when he's on the greens if he misses putts because he's not missing many shots. 'I wouldn't necessarily think that the golf swing makes as much of a difference as the personality match. I'm thinking about so many other sports. Nikola Jokic is the only guy I can think of that's a superstar that's equally unassuming in any sport in the modern era and I'm happy if anybody else can find another example, but it's very rare. Most people lean into it and take advantage of it. 'Roger Federer, he's maybe the same kind of demeanor and person. As a person he's different, but he made more off the court than he did on all the time and he cared to. When Scottie is done playing, he's not going to show back up at tournaments. I can promise you that.' Spieth and Scheffler came up through the ranks at roughly the same time in Texas and the 2017 Open champion, who will go back to the scene of his Birkdale triumph next year, said: 'Obviously he won a US Junior, like he was a great junior, but I think maybe after the Ryder Cup, watching him when he beat Jon [Rahm] and then when he came and won in that playoff in Phoenix, it's like, now he knows he didn't have to do anything different and he's good enough to win any week. 'He's obviously well-deserving of it, probably the most deserving player of it {The Open]. And I've thought the way that his game is the last few years, the harder the conditions, the better for him over here. "If there's ever a chance for someone to take him down, it's when it's benign. But he's been putting so well, I have a hard time thinking anybody else would get it done.'
