Apple TV+ axes six shows including one with perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes
Apple TV+ has revealed its lineup for the next season, and it means the end of six shows on the streaming platform. Several fan favourite programmes have been given the green light for a new series, including Trying, starring Rafe Spall and Esther Smith, Seth Rogan's smash hit Studio and German dark comedy series Where's Wanda?
There will also be a raft of new content, with upcoming possible hit s in the shape of The Wild Ones and Chief of war.
As 2025-2026 shapes up to be a belter for Apple TV+, channel chiefs will be hoping for a repeat of smash hit originals which caught the attention of fans across the globe, including Ted Lasso and the recent sci-fi hit Severance, which has surpassed the former as the platform's most watched show of this year.
Severance has been renewed for another series, which is sure to delight its army of die-hard fans. Other viewers could be left a bit disappointed by the news that six shows face the axe, which are Acapulco, Mythic Quest, Schmigadoon!, Still Up, Sunny, and Time Bandits, many of which were big hitters among critics and viewers alike.
Acapulco, an American comedy series centred around the gorgeous Las Colinas was a huge success and has a near perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes but it's not going to continue after its fourth season.
Out of those facing the chop, there are three that were in production for just one season. These include Still Up, a British drama about two friends who bond over insomnia.
Also heading for the cutting room floor are fantasy adventure Time Bandits, which is based on characters from the 1981 film of the same name, and Sunny, Rashida Jones' sci-fi set in Japan which follows a women whose husband and son have vanished after a mysterious pane crash.
Jones spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about how she wishes more people had seen the programme, which also has a 90 per cent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
She said: 'I wish there was a little bit more awareness about our show. Not gonna lie.
"I think [Sunny] is finding its audience because people seem to like it and a lot of people talk to me about it. What [Apple] do have is they have really good taste, and they do make really good shows."

Schmigadoon! was cancelled after its second season. The musical comedy fantasy series features a busy cast led by Saturday Night Live's Cecily Strong and comedian Keegan-Michael Key.
Mythic Quest, axed after four seasons, is a comedy series which follows a video game developer team and it's the brainchild of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia star Charlie Day. The programme ended on March 26 and in a rare move, show runners were allowed to edit it to give fans closure over the cliffhanger ending.
Day and the creators said via Deadline: 'Endings are hard. But after four incredible seasons, Mythic Quest is coming to a close. We're so proud of the show and the world we got to build—and deeply grateful to every cast and crew member who poured their heart into it. To all our fans, thank you for playing with us. To our partners at Apple, thank you for believing in the vision from the very beginning.
"Because endings are hard, with Apple's blessing we made one final update to our last episode—so we could say goodbye, instead of just game over."

Scots town with picturesque vista set to host fan favourite whisky festival
The whisky festival returns to Helensburgh on 20 September with two sessions running from 12pm to 3.30pm and 4.30pm to 8pm A spectacular venue with breathtaking views is set to welcome whisky lovers from all over Scotland and beyond for the Lomond and Clyde Whisky Festival 2025. Taking place at the picturesque Helensburgh and Lomond Civic Centre on Saturday September 20, the event returns for its second year following a hugely successful debut that impressed both locals and visitors alike, Glasgow Live reports. Nestled on the banks of the Firth of Clyde, the venue offers stunning vistas across the water, creating the perfect setting for an afternoon or evening of whisky appreciation. The festival will run over two dedicated sessions: the first in the afternoon from 12pm to 3.30pm, and the second in the evening from 4.30pm until 8pm. Each ticket grants access to one of these three-and-a-half-hour sessions, providing plenty of time to sample a range of whiskies and chat with exhibitors. The last pour will be served 30 minutes before each session ends. Included in every ticket is a branded Glencairn whisky glass, a detailed festival programme, bottled water, and a £10 whisky voucher that can be redeemed either at the Royal Mile Whiskies retail stand on the day or online with orders over £40. Importantly, no additional tokens are needed for general admission, as all whisky and other drinks samples from the exhibitor stands are fully covered by the ticket price. But the festival offers far more than whisky alone. Guests can expect a wide variety of artisan food and drink options available for purchase throughout the day. Popular vendors such as Bangin Pizza will be back to serve up freshly made slices, while No Limits Brewing will be supplying craft beers. An outdoor whisky and cocktail bar will also be available for anyone wanting to sip something different while enjoying the festival atmosphere. Dedicated whisky tastings from a selection of top-tier brands will run across both sessions, giving enthusiasts the chance to deepen their knowledge and palate. There will also be live music, creating a vibrant and relaxed backdrop, with a chill-out area and seating set among whisky casks for a truly immersive experience. 'This year we are making the festival bigger and better, with more top exhibitors, a renowned retail partner in Royal Mile Whiskies, and the infamous Glasgow -based independent bottler North Star Spirits as our main sponsor for this year's event.' Myth of mysterious 'Red door' in Scots city that has sparked fear among people
Scotland is full of strange and colourful urban legends like the Catman of Greenock and the Gorbals Vampire Scotland has no shortage of strange and colourful urban legends, from the infamous Catman of Greenock to the Gorbals Vampire, stories soaked in local humour and curiosity. But some myths are whispered more quietly, less shared at the pub and more buried in corners of the internet. One such tale, baffling and bizarre, is that of the Red Door of Glasgow. The legend, murky and inconsistent at best, has surfaced occasionally online, usually with a mix of comedy and ominous warning, Scottish Daily Express reports. Some say it began as a throwaway gag by Scots comic Limmy, others think it evolved from an inside joke into something with a life of its own. There's little agreement on what the Red Door is, or even if it exists, but that hasn't stopped people speculating, especially after a Reddit thread reawakened the myth. 'Has anyone ever heard of the Red Door?' a construction worker asked in a now-notorious Reddit post. 'It is supposedly located at the Clyde near the Court. I am working on one of the building sites and keep hearing about it, what is behind the door? Or is it just a lot of rubbish?' The response was instant and unnerving. 'Used to hear about the red door when I was in school,' one user wrote. 'Thought it was just a rumour but f**k knows what really happened.' Then it got even stranger. 'My Grandad said about this and said if I ever went to Scotland never EVER mention it,' one reply claimed. 'He was a paratrooper but this always made him give the 1000 yard stare. "He was so pleased I live in Portsmouth. About as far away from, well, 'it' as possible. He would be distraught knowing it was being spoken about again.' Another added, more bluntly: 'Leave it where it is fella. It's best for all.' Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! One user seemed spooked just by the mention: 'Maaaaaaate, I can't believe you've brought this up. Let's hope it goes no further than this. I mind what happened last time, f**k that. It's honestly not worth the risk and you're better off not knowing! Safer that way.' But not everyone was convinced. Some users quickly poked holes in the tale, questioning its authenticity. 'Is this some massive inside joke that the whole of Glasgow is in on or something?' asked one sceptic. Another dismissed it entirely: 'Absolute sh***e patter.' Some even suggested more mundane explanations, with one theory claiming the Red Door is just a nickname for a pub on Admiral Street, or a reference to the venue at the Old Toll Bar. Frustration mounted in the thread as others demanded real answers. 'So what is it is?' one person asked. 'All these comments are non-answers and there's nothing online. Is it just a Glasgow in-joke?'
