Fintech startup Aspora, which was previously known as Vance, has successfully raised USD 53 million in a Series B funding round, co-led by Sequoia Capital and Greylock. It also received support from Quantum Light Ventures, Hummingbird Ventures, and Y Combinator. With this latest round, the company's total funding has reached $99 million, giving it a valuation of USD 500 million.
The new funds will be used to enhance Aspora's cross-border banking infrastructure, expand into new markets like the US, Canada, Australia, and Singapore, and introduce a range of financial products designed specifically for global diaspora communities. Currently, Aspora operates in the UK, UAE, and EU, serving over 250,000 users, mainly non-resident Indians (NRIs).
"The latest fundraise allows us to accelerate our mission of building a truly global financial ecosystem for diaspora communities," said Parth Garg, the Founder and CEO of Aspora. "We're just getting started—our users deserve modern financial infrastructure that works across borders."
Founded in 2022 by Parth Garg, who left Stanford University to pursue this venture, Aspora is dedicated to rethinking banking for immigrants. The company provides zero-fee remittance services, offers exchange rates that match Google's, and supplies tools for investing, banking, and accessing credit and insurance on a global scale.
Aspora rebranded from Vance to Aspora in April 2025, reflecting its ambition to serve diaspora populations worldwide, not just in India. In just six months, Aspora claims its transaction volume has increased from USD 400 million to over USD 2 billion, saving users more than USD 17.5 million in foreign exchange fees.
This latest Series B round follows two earlier funding rounds: a $5 million seed extension in September 2024 and a USD 35 million Series A in December 2024, both led by Sequoia Capital and backed by existing investors.
Luciana Lixandru, Partner, Sequoia Capital, "Aspora is bringing diaspora banking into the modern age. This isn't just about digital banking; it's about the new opportunities it creates."
Aspora is backed by notable angel investors including Balaji Srinivasan (former CTO, Coinbase), Sundeep Jain (former CPO, Uber), and Chad West (former Head of Marketing, Revolut). Headquartered in London, with offices in Dubai and Bengaluru, Aspora is positioning itself as the go-to platform for seamless financial services for the global Indian diaspora.

Germany's economic sentiment hits highest level since early 2022

Germany's economic sentiment climbed to its highest level in over three years in July, fuelling hopes that Europe's largest economy may be on a firmer path to recovery. The ZEW Indicator of Economic Sentiment, which gauges investor expectations for the German economy, rose to 52.7 points this month, up from 47.5 in June and well above economist expectations of 50.3. This marks the strongest reading since February 2022, shortly before Russia's invasion of Ukraine disrupted global trade and energy flows. 'After the strong improvements of the past two months, the positive sentiment among respondents is becoming more firmly established,' said ZEW President Professor Achim Wambach. 'Despite ongoing uncertainty due to global trade conflicts, nearly two-thirds of the experts expect the German economy to improve.' Germany's ZEW Current Conditions index rose to -59.5 in July 2025, its highest level since June 2023, up from -72 the previous month and outperforming expectations of -66. Wambach pointed to hopes of a speedy resolution to the US-EU tariff standoff, alongside the German government's proposed emergency investment programme, as key drivers of optimism. The upbeat sentiment was particularly notable in expectations for mechanical engineering, metal production and the electrical engineering sector. The positive sentiment extended to the broader eurozone. The ZEW sentiment index for the single-currency bloc rose modestly to 36.1 in July, up 0.8 points from June. The assessment of current conditions in the eurozone also improved, though it remained in negative territory at minus 24.2, a 6.5-point gain from the previous month. Related German business sentiment rises: Ifo sees sixth consecutive lift Which European economy stands to suffer the most from US tariffs? Financial markets reacted with caution. The euro gained 0.2% against the US dollar to $1.1680, on track to snap a four-day losing streak. Bund yields dropped 3 basis points to 2.69%, after hitting on Monday their highest levels since early April. Still, investor nerves were apparent after US President Donald Trump announced a new 30% tariff on European Union imports from 1 August. The European Commission has pledged to intensify negotiations to avert a trade-war escalation. Germany's DAX index was unchanged at 24,200 points, consolidating after three consecutive sessions of losses. The broader Euro STOXX 50 rose 0.3%, supported by strength in industrial and automotive names. Among top gainers, ASML Holding advanced 2.4%, followed by BASF (1.92%), Mercedes-Benz (1.74%), Volkswagen (1.45%) and BMW (1.44%). On the downside, L'Oréal fell 1.35%, Orange slipped 1.23% and Telefónica declined 0.91%.

LG Launches Wide-Ranging TV Promotion—Including Thousands Off Its Unique Transparent OLED

LG has announced that it's launching a new Summer of Women's Sport promotional campaign where buyers of any of a wide range of qualifying premium LG TVs can claim back as much as £2,000 in cash against the value of their purchase. The range of TVs included in the promotion includes everything from LG's wildly popular G5 and C5 OLED TV series through to its latest QNED LCD TVs and even its esoteric 77-inch T4 transparent OLED model. LG's remarkable transparent Signature OLED T TV (which can be made opaque at the touch of a button ... More for serious movie viewing) is now available to buy with a £2,000 cash back offer until July 22. In fact, it's this Signature OLED77T transparent OLED, which can switch from transparency to a normal black-backed screen at the press of a button, that's available with £2,000 cash back to anyone who buys one from a participating U.K. retailer before the promotion ends on July 22. The OLED77T does cost £44,999 up front, it has to be said, so it's perhaps not surprising that the cashback deal on it is comfortably the biggest in LG's new promotion. But £2,000 still adds up to a lot of 4K Blu-rays. Other more 'mainstream' highlights of LG's new Summer of Women's Sport promotion (which has been timed to coincide with the current UEFA Women's Euro 2025 football tournament) include £500 cashback on LG's 77-inch OLED77M59, £400 cashback on the 65-inch OLED65G5s, and £250 cashback on the 65-inch 65QNED93. The M5s, if you're not aware, combine the latest Primary RGB Tandem OLED panel technology with a true 'wireless' design featuring an external, low-latency cable-free connections box. The G5s again use the latest brightness- and color-enhancing Primary RGB Tandem technology on most screen sizes, but sport a different design and don't feature the wireless connectivity system the M5s get. The 65-inch QNED93, meanwhile, takes LG's LCD picture quality to the next level by, unusually for LG's LCD range, using a contrast-rich VA type of panel rather than an IPS one, and combining this with a new Dynamic Colour system and LG's most advanced picture processing yet for an LCD TV. Note that other screen sizes in the QNED93 range revert to IPS panels, which trade contrast for slightly wider viewing angles. Meta Faces New EU Tech Antitrust Clash After €200 Million Fine

By and Gian Volpicelli Save Meta Platforms Inc. is headed for another clash with the European Union after a €200 million ($232 million) fine failed to bring Facebook and Instagram into compliance with a tough new digital law. The European Commission wrote to the social network giant last week, cautioning that Meta's pay or consent service — allowing ad-free services for a fee — needs further reworking, the Brussels-based EU executive told Bloomberg.
