Elon Musk's X tests highlighting ‘opposing views' feature
Elon Musk-owned X is testing a new feature designed to expose users to a wider range of viewpoints by highlighting posts that have been liked by individuals with "opposing views. The experimental feature aims to break down

'Starting today, a subset of
Community Notes
contributors — representing a wide range of viewpoints — will occasionally see a new callout in the product. The callout shows based on early and limited Like signals on the post. Contributors can then rate and provide feedback about the post, helping to develop an open source algorithm that could effectively identify posts liked by people from different perspectives,' said the company.
How the feature works
The experiment identifies posts that receive likes from users who typically disagree, signaling content that resonates across ideological lines. A subset of Community Notes contributors will be asked to rate and provide feedback on these posts, selecting options like 'I learned something interesting' or 'I don't agree with it.'
X stated that the feature aims to highlight insights that bridge perspectives, encouraging users to share ideas that resonate broadly.
The company hopes it will motivate more balanced discussions and reduce polarization on the platform.
'People often feel the world is divided, yet Community Notes shows people can agree, even on contentious topics. This experimental new feature seeks to uncover ideas, insights, and opinions that bridge perspectives. It can bring awareness to what resonates broadly. It could motivate people to share those ideas in the first place.
Ultimately, it could help move the world forward in ways that the people want,' added the company.

"Will Lose Their Primary": Musk's Big Threat To Lawmakers Backing Trump's 'Big, Beautiful Bill'
Washington: As the US Senate inches closer to a vote on the White House's massive tax and immigration agenda, tech billionaire Elon Musk has renewed his criticism of President Donald Trump's flagship spending bill-- "One Big Beautiful Bill"-- and threatened to unseat the lawmakers who support the unpopular package, which is expected to slash social welfare programs and add an eye-watering $3 trillion to the national debt. Lawmakers in the US Senate were bogged down in a marathon session of amendment votes on Monday as Republicans sought to pass the "big, beautiful bill", which would extend Trump's tax cuts passed in 2017. "Every member of Congress who campaigned on reducing government spending and then immediately voted for the biggest debt increase in history should hang their head in shame," Musk, who was Trump's presidential advisor till May, said in a post on X. "And they will lose their primary next year if it is the last thing I do on this Earth," he added. Every member of Congress who campaigned on reducing government spending and then immediately voted for the biggest debt increase in history should hang their head in shame! And they will lose their primary next year if it is the last thing I do on this Earth. — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) June 30, 2025 New Party Threat Musk also warned that he would launch a new party -- the American Party-- an alternative to the Democrat-Republican uniparty, if lawmakers pass Trump's spending bill in the Senate. "If this insane spending bill passes, the America Party will be formed the next day. Our country needs an alternative to the Democrat-Republican uniparty so that the people actually have a VOICE," he wrote on X. Trump's 'One Big Beautiful Bill' President Trump wants the "One Big Beautiful Bill" to extend his expiring first-term tax cuts at $4.5 trillion, boost military spending and fund his plans for unprecedented mass deportations and border security. But senators eyeing 2026 midterm congressional elections are divided over savings that would strip around $1 trillion in subsidised health care from millions of the poorest Americans and add more than $3.3 trillion to the nation's already yawning budget deficits over a decade. The Republicans are aiming to have the package in the Oval Office by the time Independence Day festivities begin on Friday. The process had ground to a glacial pace by early evening, but, after members considered dozens of amendments as part of the so-called "vote-a-rama" required before final passage, they managed to complete only 14 votes in the first seven hours. But, given Trump's iron grip on the party, he is expected to get what he wants in the Senate, where Republicans hold a razor-tight majority. All Democrats in that chamber are expected to vote "nay." The passing of the bill will be a huge win for the Republican leader, who has been criticised for imposing many of his priorities through executive orders that sidestep the scrutiny of Congress. But approval by the Senate is only half the battle, as the 940-page text will have to pass a separate vote in the House of Representatives, where several rebels in the slim Republican majority are threatening to oppose it. Musk-Trump Feud Over Bill The former Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) head, Musk, took to X on Saturday, issuing a blistering critique of the Senate's latest draft of tax-and-spending bill, calling the legislation "utterly insane and destructive" right as the chamber prepared to open debate on the nearly 1,000-page proposal. "The latest Senate draft bill will destroy millions of jobs in America and cause immense strategic harm to our country! Utterly insane and destructive," Musk wrote in the post. The post was a continuation of Musk's opposition to the Grand Old Party's legislation, which he had previously described as a "disgusting abomination" filled with wasteful spending. Musk's criticism of the bill triggered an online feud between him and Trump, with both men bashing one another on social media accounts. The disagreement escalated when Musk posted about an alleged connection between Donald Trump and the Epstein files -- a post he later deleted.

'The America Party': Elon Musk warns lawmakers against Donald Trump's 'Big, Beautiful Bill'; says alternative needed if 'insane spending bill' passes
US President Donald Trump and Tesla CEO Elon Musk US President Donald Trump and former DOGE chief Elon Musk seem to have locked horns again over the same topic, "Big Beautiful Bill." Tesla chief Elon Musk on Monday demanded the establishment of a new political movement and indicated his willingness to support primary opponents against all Republican Congressional members, saying people will have a voice if new party comes. Musk issued this bold statement, contingent upon Republican lawmakers passing President Trump's comprehensive domestic policy legislation '. Although Musk's statements often remain mere declarations, his criticism of Republicans has intensified considerably in recent days. On Monday, he indicated his readiness to establish a new "America Party" should the GOP legislation succeed. "If this insane spending bill passes, the America Party will be formed the next day," he posted on X to his 220 million followers. "Our country needs an alternative to the Democrat-Republican uniparty so that the people actually have a VOICE." By evening, Musk offered concrete support for Representative Thomas Massie of Kentucky, a notable opponent of Trump's bill. Despite various GOP groups expressing reservations about the legislative package, potentially endangering its passage, nearly every Republican in Congress supports some version. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với sàn môi giới tin cậy IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo Later, Musk stated that almost all House and Senate GOP members "will lose their primary next year if it is the last thing I do on this Earth" - an ambitious claim even for the world's wealthiest individual, who contributed nearly $300 million to Republican candidates in the 2024 election. Musk specifically criticised two House Republicans known as fiscal conservatives within the House Freedom Caucus: Representatives Andy Harris of Maryland and Chip Roy of Texas. He also engaged in disagreement with Senator Markwayne Mullin of Oklahoma. He expressed renewed interest in establishing a new political party whilst criticising legislators from both parties, labelling them as members of the "porky pig party" due to government expenditure levels. Musk's association with the Republican Party has been brief and uncertain. A former Democrat, he began identifying as Republican only in 2022, initiating substantial public contributions to the party before last November's election. His notable dispute with Trump in early June accelerated his expressed interest in forming a new party. During this disagreement, he conducted an X poll asking: "Is it time to create a new political party in America that actually represents the 80% in the middle?" Establishing a viable third party would require enormous effort, and on Monday, there was no evident indication that Mr. Musk or his advisers were taking concrete steps. Just five weeks previously, the technology billionaire had expressed different intentions, stating he would reduce his election spending in the 2026 cycle.

Musk lashes out at tax bill supporters, threatens to unseat lawmakers
Musk warned that the proposed cuts to EVs and other clean energy credits would be "incredibly destructive" to the country, destroying millions of jobs and giving "handouts to industries of the past" Bloomberg Elon Musk once again threatened to ramp up his political spending, this time targeting nearly every sitting Republican in Congress who has signaled support for President Donald Trump 's multi-trillion dollar tax bill. 'Every member of Congress who campaigned on reducing government spending and then immediately voted for the biggest debt increase in history should hang their head in shame!' Musk posted on his social media platform X. 'And they will lose their primary next year if it's the last thing I do on this Earth.' But earlier this month, shortly after leaving his formal government role as an adviser to Trump, the billionaire lambasted the president's signature tax and spending deal in a series of posts that sparked an online feud and an explosive, hours-long public meltdown between the two men. It is obvious with the insane spending of this bill, which increases the debt ceiling by a record FIVE TRILLION DOLLARS that we live in a one-party country – the PORKY PIG PARTY!! Time for a new political party that actually cares about the people. — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) June 30, 2025 Over the weekend, Musk warned that the proposed cuts to electric vehicle and other clean energy credits would be 'incredibly destructive' to the country, destroying millions of US jobs and giving 'handouts to industries of the past while severely damaging industries of the future.' 'I haven't spoken to him much, but I think Elon is a wonderful guy, and I know he's going to do well always,' Trump said on Fox News's Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo, which aired Sunday but was recorded on Friday before the billionaire's most recent posts. 'But he got a little bit upset, and you know that wasn't appropriate.'
