Havlicek Stole the Pod 10: What the Celtics need still need to do this offseason, with Justin Turpin

The Boston Celtics have waived point guard JD Davison, and with that act, have dipped below the NBA's dreaded second apron. One of their most important bits of unfinished business left for the Celtics in the 2025 offseason, Boston now has a few more pending issues to address, not the least of which deciding whether to use the roster spot opened up by Davison's exit. From the near-certain departure of vet forward Al Horford in free agency to potentially trading one or both of Anfernee Simons and Georges Niang to reduce the Celtics' cap hit, there is still a fair amount of work to be done before training camp rolls around in the fall. Should Boston sign former Los Angeles Clippers big man Ben Simmons, or try to bring on Summer Celtics star Charles Bassey to shore up the big man rotation? Is there another name out there worth pursuing for Boston? The cohosts of "Havlicek Stole the Pod," Daniel Donabedian and Justin Quinn (Alex Goldberg is taking the pod off) linked up with WEEI's Justin Turpin to talk about all the latest Celtics news from Davison's departure to Jaylen Brown training with Muay Thai, so be sure to tune in to this mid-summer update of what the Celtics have been up to -- and what they might do next. Has Baylor Scheierman earned a bigger role with the Boston Celtics?

Baylor Scheierman heads into the 2025-26 NBA season with an opportunity to cement himself as a core part of Joe Mazzulla's rotation. The sophomore forward may find himself thrust into a bigger role as the Boston Celtics continue to retool the roster and push their young prospects to see what they're capable of. Fortunately for the Celtics, they got a closer look at what Scheierman brings to the table during the 2025 NBA Las Vegas Summer League, where he thrived as a ball-handler, playmaker, and help defender, but struggled when shooting the basketball. Fortunately for Scheierman, he won't be tasked with taking such a high volume of shots at the NBA level. If you're interested in what Scheierman did well during his time in Las Vegas, the Tomasz Kordylewski YouTube channel has uploaded a highlight reel of the sophomore forward's best moments. From flashy passes, lobs and strong rebounds to a tight dribble and solid defensive instincts, Scheierman showcased a wide range of skills. What did we learn from Hugo Gonzalez's Boston Celtics Summer League?

Boston Celtics fans got their first glimpse of Hugo Gonzalez during the franchise's five-game run at the Las Vegas Summer League. Gonzalez joined the Celtics as the 28th pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, having spent the past two seasons with Real Madrid. Gonzalez certainly has some room to improve, specifically with his ability to handle the ball. However, once he becomes accustomed to the increased pace and physicality, some of those issues will likely iron themselves out. Nevertheless, the rookie forward certainly showed encouraging signs of long-term upside and could potentially find himself fighting for minutes on Joe Mazzulla's roster next season. If you're looking to re-watch some of the rookie's best moments, Tomasz Kordylewski has uploaded a near four-minute highlight reel to his YouTube channel. As such, Celtics fans can continue trying to assess Gonzalez's game and how it can translate to the NBA level. You can watch the full highlight reel by clicking on the embedded video above.
