Patriotic Alliance replaces Kenny Kunene

The leader of the Patriotic Alliance, Gayton McKenzie, has announced 24-year-old Liam Jacobs as the replacement for Kenny Kunene. This comes a week after Kunene was placed on 30-day leave by the party.
'We want him to get the experience and to help us fix the potholes and continue the good work that the dp [deptuty president] has been doing,' said McKenzie
McKenzie said Jacobs will be deployed as the new councillor for the PA in the city of Joburg.
Earlier this month, Kunene came under a cloud of controversy after police found him in the home of a suspect in the murder case of Oupa 'DJ Sumbody' Sefoka.
He has maintained that he has no connection to the murder and claimed that it was a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Despite this, on 22 July, the PA place Kunene on leave pending the investigation and have temporarily relieved him of all his duties.
Jacobs joined the PA last month. He was previously a member of the Democratic Alliance and served as the leader of DA's Students Organisation (DASO). He had been president of the organisation since 2022.
He has been dubbed a 2026 Mayoral candidate in the City of Tshwane.
Apart from his love for politics, he is also a professional wrestler.

Father dead, mother critical after domestic shooting in Pretoria's Elardus Park

A mother is fighting for her life and a father is dead after a domestic dispute turned violent in the early hours this morning at their Elardus Park, Pretoria, home. Pretoria Rekord reports that their teenage daughter, who was asleep during the shooting, is now in the care of trauma counsellors. According to police spokesperson Captain Johan van Dyk, the shooting happened at approximately 03:30 this morning. 'Members of the Lyttelton SAPS responded to a report of a shooting incident at a residence in Rietvalleirand, Elardus Park. 'Upon arrival at the scene, members were met by security and emergency medical personnel, who confirmed that a woman had sustained four gunshot wounds to the upper body. 'She was stabilised on the scene and airlifted to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment.' Van Dyk says preliminary investigations revealed the body of a man, who was found deceased at the scene with a visible gunshot wound to the head. 'A 9mm pistol was recovered next to his body, along with several live rounds and spent cartridges believed to have been discharged from the same firearm.' Medical officials declared the man dead at the scene. The couple's daughter had been placed in the care of trauma counsellors, as there is currently no immediate family available in Pretoria, says Van Dyk. He adds that the daughter said that her mother had recently returned home late after attending a work-related training session. 'It is believed that this led to an argument between the victim and the suspect. The daughter reported that she later awoke to the sound of gunshots, but was unable to confirm the exact events that followed. 'Crime scene experts attended the scene and conducted a thorough investigation. The firearm was seized and will be sent for ballistic analysis as part of the ongoing investigation.' Police are investigating a case of attempted murder and have opened an inquest docket relating to the suspected suicide.
