
Miss World 2025: Contestants from Portugal, Ghana, and Ireland arrive in Hyderabad today
On Monday, representatives from Portugal, Ghana, and Ireland are scheduled to land at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), Shamshabad, where the Telangana Tourism Department has arranged a traditional welcome with full honours.
The arriving contestants include Maria Amelia Antonio from Portugal, Jutta Ama Pokuhaa Addo from Ghana, and Jasmine Gerhard from Ireland. Special attention has been given to security and accommodation arrangements to ensure a smooth and memorable experience for all participants.
Several prominent delegates have already arrived in the city, including Zoyalize Jansen van Rensburg (Miss South Africa), Jessica Scandiuzzi Pedroso (Miss Brazil), Julia Evelyn Morley (Miss World CEO and Chairperson), and Emma Deanna Cathryn Morrison (Miss Canada).
On May 10, Miss World Chairperson Julia Morley is expected to review the final preparations and hold discussions with government officials regarding the grand opening ceremony at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium, official sources said.

Amarnath Yatra: Fresh batch of 3,536 pilgrims leaves Jammu base camp
Jammu, July 22 (UNI) A fresh batch of 3,536 pilgrims left the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu today to offer prayers at the 3,880-metre-high holy cave shrine of Amarnath in the South Kashmir Himalayas, officials said. 'A fresh batch of 3,536 pilgrims this morning left for the Shri Amarnath Yatra cave shrine in Kashmir from the Jammu base camp amid tight security arrangements,' they added. The pilgrims were escorted by security forces to ensure a safe and smooth passage. Of the total pilgrims, 2,286 have taken the traditional Pahalgam route, while 1,250 opted for the shorter but steeper Baltal route. The group is travelling in a fleet of 132 vehicles, including both light and heavy motor vehicles. The 38-day annual yatra commenced on July 2 from the twin routes of Nunwan–Pahalgam in Anantnag and Baltal in Ganderbal, and is scheduled to conclude on August 9. According to official data, over three lakh pilgrims have so offered prayers at the cave shrine, located at an altitude of 3,888 metres, making this year's yatra one of the most attended in recent times. New Delhi, July 20 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi has exhorted motor cyclists to visit Kutch in Gujarat and explore its beauty. The Prime Minister who met Mr Venu Srinivasan, Chairman Emeritus of the TVS Motor Company, and Mr. Sudarshan Venu, tweeted 'Glad to have met Shri Venu Srinivasan Ji and Mr. Sudarshan Venu. I commend them for the effort to chronicle the beauty of Kutch and also encourage motorcyclists to go there.' Mr Srinivasan and Mr Sudarshan Venu had called on the Prime Minister yesterday. Air India Express flight aborts journey to Phuket: Snag reported at 10,000 feet; alternate aircraft flown
HYDERABAD: An Air India Express flight bound for Phuket, Thailand, returned to the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) here less than half an hour after take-off due to a technical snag. The aircraft was carrying more than 100 people, including passengers and the crew. The Boeing aircraft, operating as IX 110, had already experienced a 20-minute delay at the airport. Originally scheduled for a 6.20 am departure, the flight took off at 6.40 am but returned by 6.57 am. GMR authorities told TOI that Air India arranged for an alternative flight for the passengers which reached Phuket at 11.45 am. 'Safety of flyers our top priority' Airport officials added that after take-off, the pilots noticed the technical issue at 6.49 am. "The crew elected to return out of an abundance of caution. An alternative aircraft was arranged, and the flight has since departed. We regret the inconvenience caused and reiterate that safety remains our top priority in every aspect of our operations," said an Air India Express spokesperson. A month ago, a Tirupati-bound flight from Hyderabad had faced a similar situation. On June 19, a SpiceJet aircraft carrying 80 passengers had returned 10 minutes after departure due to intermittent illumination of baggage door light.
