The TTD, however, strongly refuted the allegations, calling them baseless, politically motivated, and harmful to the institution's global reputation.
Former Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Chairman and senior YSRCP leader Bhumana Karunakar Reddy has criticised the TTD administration and the ruling NDA government for allegedly compromising the sanctity and traditions of the Tirumala Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple.
Speaking to the media in Tirupati, Reddy condemned the comments of a TTD official who suggested that Vedic chanting in the Sriwari temple was unnecessary and should be discontinued.
Describing these statements as 'sacrilegious" and 'arrogant," Reddy asserted that all four Vedas are continuously recited in the temple, and highlighted that the TTD operates six Vedic schools to promote these ancient scriptures.
He also mentioned that several religious leaders had raised concerns about these issues with RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, which led to TTD officials being reprimanded. The TTD, however, strongly refuted Reddy's allegations, calling them baseless, politically motivated, and harmful to the institution's global reputation.
In an official statement, the TTD clarified that the recitation time has been increased and the divine chant 'Om Namo Venkatesaya' now resonates throughout the temple premises, including queue lines, Annaprasadam halls, and footpaths. Officials stated that the reforms were introduced to enhance transparency and improve services for devotees.

Baseless Allegations Against Dharmasthala Deeply Hurt Devotees: Scholar Somayaji

Dharmasthala: Renowned Vedic scholar and Dharmasthala devotee, Daivajna Somayaji, has strongly criticised what he termed as 'unfounded and mischievous propaganda' against the sacred town of Dharmasthala. Speaking to the media during his visit on Sunday, the Bengaluru-based scholar said the recent allegations have pained thousands of devotees across the country. 'Dharmasthala is a spiritual centre grounded in values of truth, justice, and inclusivity. Attempts to tarnish its sanctity through irresponsible claims are not only baseless but also deeply offensive to the countless people who revere this place,' Somayaji said. He lauded Dharmadhikari Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade's decades-long commitment to public welfare and religious harmony. 'As a person of immense discipline, Heggade has undertaken service without any expectation of recognition or reward. His work stands as a model of selfless dedication,' he added. Responding to the state government's formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) following recent controversies, Somayaji remarked that while such a probe may not have been necessary, the government had done its duty. 'We only pray that God grants wisdom to those misleading the public and that the good work of Dharmasthala continues without hindrance,' he said.

Telangana Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy vows to stop Banakacharla Project by AP

Telangana Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy has vowed to resist the Banakacharla project being pursued by the Andhra Pradesh government. He stated that the Central Water Commission (CWC), Godavari River Management Board, and the Polavaram Project Authority have all rejected permits for the project due to objections raised by Telangana. The Centre has halted environmental clearances in response to concerns raised by the state's irrigation department. Reddy made the remarks while participating in a ration card distribution event in Dharmaram, Peddapalli district, alongside Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar, Tummala Nageswara Rao, and Adluri Laxman Kumar. The minister stressed that Telangana had strongly voiced its objections during a recent Chief Ministers' meeting in Delhi. He argued that the project violates the State Bifurcation Act and the 1980 Godavari River Water Distribution Agreements. Reddy also criticised Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders for making irresponsible statements despite these concerns.
