‘Disrespectful and Unacceptable': Iran condemns Trump's remarks on Supreme Leader Khamenei

Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi cautioned Trump, saying that if he wishes to reach an understanding with the Supreme Leader, he would need to 'set aside' his tone.
'If President Trump truly wishes to reach an agreement, he should set aside his disrespectful and unacceptable tone towards the Iranian supreme leader, Grand Ayatollah Khamenei, and stop hurting his millions of sincere supporters,' Araghchi said in a post on social media platform X.
Trump's remarks on Khamenei came after the latter, in his first speech after the announcement of the ceasefire understanding, said that the US President had 'exaggerated events in unusual ways', while adding that he needed the 'exaggeration' .The Supreme Leader also claimed that the 'the Islamic republic won', and said that this had dealth 'a severe slap to the face of America'. 'I saved him from an ugly and ignominious death'
Hours prior to Araghchi's statement, Trump took to Truth Social, saying that he had 'saved' Khamenei from an 'ugly" death. 'I SAVED HIM FROM A VERY UGLY AND IGNOMINIOUS DEATH,' Trump said in the post.
The US President questioned Khamenei's declaration of victory in the war against Israel, asking why the Supreme Leader had 'blatantly and foolishly' said that he won the war. "…when he knows his statement is a lie, it is not so. As a man of great faith, he is not supposed to lie,' Trump said.
He said that Iran had been 'decimated', adding that the country's three 'evil nuclear sites' had also been 'obliterated. Trump claimed that he had knowledge of 'exactly' where Khamenei was sheltered, further saying that he had not allowed Israel and the US armed forces to take his life.
He also alleged that he had convinced Israel to 'bring back a very large group" of aircraft that it had sent towards Tehran for 'the final knockout'.
The US President said that if this had happened, 'tremendous damage' would have ensued, and that many Iranians would have lost their lives. He claimed that it would have been 'the biggest attack' of the war between Israel and Iran. 'Was working on possible removal of sanctions against Iran'
In his post, Trump also alleged that he had been working on the possible removal of sanctions against Iran during the last few days. He said that this would have given Iran a much better chance "at a full, fast, and complete recovery'.
However, Trump said that he had dropped all work on sanction relief and more after being 'hit' by Khamenei's statement of 'anger, hatred, and disgust'.
Trump also cautioned that Iran on getting back 'in the World Order flow', saying things would get worse for them otherwise. 'They are always so angry, hostile, and unhappy, and look at what it has gotten them - A burned out, blown up Country, with no future, a decimated Military, a horrible Economy, and DEATH all around them,' Trump said.

Last week, the US struck three key nuclear facilities in Iran amid the conflict between US ally Israel and the Islamic Republic. The following day (June 23) Trump managed to broker a ceasefire deal between the Asian rivals.

Trump administration unveils executive actions to boost energy supply for AI expansion
The Trump administration is readying a package of executive actions aimed at boosting energy supply to power the US expansion of artificial intelligence, according to four sources familiar with the planning. Top economic rivals US and China are locked in a technological arms race and with it secure an economic and military edge. The huge amount of data processing behind AI requires a rapid increase in power supplies that are straining utilities and grids in many states. The moves under consideration include making it easier for power-generating projects to connect to the grid, and providing federal land on which to build the data centers needed to expand AI technology, according to the sources. The administration will also release an AI action plan and schedule public events to draw public attention to the efforts, according to the sources, who requested anonymity to discuss internal deliberations. The White House did not respond to requests for comment. Training large-scale AI models requires a huge amount of electricity, and the industry's growth is driving the first big increase in US power demand in decades. Between 2024 and 2029, US electricity demand is projected to grow at five times the rate predicted in 2022, according to power-sector consultancy Grid Strategies. Meanwhile, power demand from AI data centers could grow more than thirtyfold by 2035, according to a new report by consultancy Deloitte. Building and connecting new power generation to the grid, however, has been a major hurdle because such projects require extensive impact studies that can take years to complete, and existing transmission infrastructure is overwhelmed. Among the ideas under consideration by the administration is to identify more fully developed power projects and move them higher on the waiting list for connection, two of the sources said. Siting data centers has also been challenging because larger facilities require a lot of space and resources, and can face zoning obstacles or public opposition. The executive orders could provide a solution to that by offering land managed by the Defense Department or Interior Department to project developers, the sources said. The administration is also considering streamlining permitting for data centers by creating a nationwide Clean Water Act permit, rather than requiring companies to seek permits on a state-by-state basis, according to one of the sources. In January, Trump hosted top tech CEOs at the White House to highlight the Stargate Project, a multi-billion effort led by ChatGPT's creator OpenAI , SoftBank and Oracle to build data centers and create more than 100,000 jobs in the US Trump has prioritized winning the AI race against China and declared on his first day in office a national energy emergency aimed at removing all regulatory obstacles to oil and gas drilling, coal and critical mineral mining, and building new gas and nuclear power plants to bring more energy capacity online. He also ordered his administration in January to produce an AI Action Plan that would make "America the world capital in artificial intelligence" and reduce regulatory barriers to its rapid expansion. That report, which includes input from the National Security Council, is due by July 23. The White House is considering making July 23 "AI Action Day" to draw attention to the report and demonstrate its commitment to expanding the industry, two of the sources said. Israel-Iran conflict: Thousands mourn top Iranian military commanders, scientists killed in strikes
Thousands of mourners lined the streets of downtown Tehran on Saturday (June 28, 2025) for the funeral of the head of the Revolutionary Guard and other top commanders and nuclear scientists killed during a 12-day war with Israel. The caskets of Guard's chief Gen. Hossein Salami, the head of the Guard's ballistic missile programme, Gen. Amir Ali Hajizadeh and others were driven on trucks along the capital's Azadi Street as people in the crowds chanted: 'Death to America' and 'Death to Israel.' Salami and Hajizadeh were both killed on the first day of the war, June 13, 2025, as Israel launched a war it said meant to destroy Iran's nuclear programme, specifically targeting military commanders, scientists and nuclear facilities. There was no immediate sign of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in the state broadcast of the funeral. Mr. Ali Khamenei, who has not made a public appearance since before the outbreak of the war, has in past funerals held prayers for fallen commanders over their caskets before the open ceremonies, later aired on state television.
