Jenna Ortega Appears in Dark First Glimpse at 'Wednesday' Season 2 — Watch!

Yahoo31-01-2025
It looks like classes at Nevermore Academy are back in session for Wednesday Addams! But this time around, things are seemingly taking a darker turn.
On Thursday, Jan. 30, Netflix unveiled a first look at the upcoming second season of the Jenna Ortega-led series in a promotional sizzle reel teasing the many titles hitting the streamer in 2025.
The video begins with a young woman who attempts to stream Stranger Things in a work meeting being transported through the many different worlds of Netflix's programming. From there, we see her encountering the guards of Squid Game and the iconic Black Mirror logo.
We then see the woman donning Wednesday Addams' signature braided ponytails while wearing a Nevermore Academy uniform before Ortega, herself, appears as the character.
The clip shows the gates of Willowhill Psychiatric Hospital, where Tyler Galpin's (Hunter Doohan) mom Francoise was admitted due to her transformation as a hyde — a mutated species of monster that was previously banned from Nevermore Academy.
As Ortega's Wednesday hits the screen, she stares down Tyler as he's chained to a wall.

Wednesday, produced by Tim Burton (who also directed the first season), was an instant hit upon making its Netflix debut in November 2022. The series follows Ortega's titular Wednesday as she navigates her teenage years at Nevermore Academy.
Ortega, 22, starred alongside Joy Sunday, Emma Myers, Hunter Doohan, Moosa Mostafa, Victor Dorobantu, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Isaac Ordonez and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo, all of whom are set to return for season 2. However, fellow season 1 stars Percy Hynes White, Jamie McShane and Naomi J Ogawa are reportedly not coming back for the upcoming installment, per Deadline.

Production on season 2 recently wrapped and will arrive on the streamer later this year. Ahead of its eventual premiere, Ortega had teased that the new installment is dialing the scare factor up a notch.
"I think the feel that we're going for is a little bit more horror-inspired," she told Vanity Fair in August 2024. "Not to say that suddenly we're the goriest show of all time. I mean, there's six-year-olds watching. We're doing this thing now where Wednesday just kind of appears. She is a little bit of a jump scare herself."
Season 1 of Wednesday is available to stream in full on Netflix.

How to Watch Hitchcock: 5 Steps to Unlock the Master of Suspense

Look up 'suspense' in the dictionary, and there should be a little sketch of Alfred Hitchcock's silhouette next to it. He never won an Oscar — the academy finally gave him an honorary one in 1968 — but the British director is inarguably one of cinema's most influential auteurs, the kind of filmmaker even a casual movie watcher has heard of. Even if you don't know his movies, chances are you can recognize the shower scene from 'Psycho,' or have seen a spoof of his work on 'The Simpsons.' My own introduction to Hitchcock came at the tender age of 3 or 4: In 'Sesame Street Presents: Follow That Bird,' a plane flies over Big Bird in a cornfield to get his attention — a homage to a famous scene from 'North By Northwest.' Hitchcock's work is marked by carefully framed images and a fondness for playing with our emotions, but his greatest talent was making us freak out, and showing other filmmakers how to do that, too. With a selection of his movies now on Netflix, here is a beginner's guide to understanding how the Master of Suspense creates suspense. 'Rear Window' (1954) Step Inside a Character's Point of View Hitchcock loved to stick us right in the minds of his characters — many of whom are in the throes of obsession and desire — and thus play on our own passions and nerves. 'Rear Window' centers on an all-too-familiar pastime for city dwellers: peering curiously, and a tad illicitly, into the neighbor's window. Jeff (Jimmy Stewart) is a photojournalist who's stuck in his Greenwich Village apartment because his whole leg, from hip to foot, is encased in a cast. Thus stranded and frustrated, he becomes intrigued by the lives of the people living across the way, an assortment of typical New Yorkers — a composer, a dancer, a lonely single woman, a bickering couple — and he starts to wonder if one of them is a murderer. Netflix is losing its edge.

Posted Jul 14, 2025 at 7:43 AM UTC Netflix is losing its edge. Nielsen data compiled by the Entertainment Strategy Guy newsletter shows that Netflix's original titles have gradually been losing ground to original content from rival streaming platforms, such as Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, Apple TV Plus, and Paramount Plus. While Netflix owned 80 percent of the weekly top ten charts in 2021, that's now down to 52 percent this year so far — and Disney Plus isn't doing so hot either.

Theo James Means Business in Church's Campaign

LONDON — Theo James is back with Church's for another campaign in his recurring role as an English gentleman. This time, the British actor means business as he moves around an Oxfordshire manor. Did Trump's Latest Tariff Move Give Shoe Shoppers A Holiday Reprieve? The campaign is titled 'A Day in the Life,' with James in his silk pajamas and robe as he enjoys a cup of tea with a pair of boots on. It's an oddly eccentric image that feels naturally English. In another shot, the actor is in a suit and tie with a paper airplane in his hand resting his sleek black boots on a wooden desk. James roams around the manor on a bike and then rests up in bed with pages of a newspaper around him — all while wearing a selection of smart Church's shoes. The role of an English gentleman is nothing new to James. He's the star of Netflix's 'The Gentlemen,' playing Edward 'Eddie' Horniman, the new 10th Duke of Halstead, who overnight goes from being a United Nations peacekeeping officer to a duke to a gentleman gangster, swapping his camouflage uniform and plaid shirts for fisherman jackets, car coats and sharp smoking suits. The busy actor has been getting busier as of late as he recently partnered with Ed Templeton, cofounder of Carousel on Charlotte Street, to open Lupa, a Roman-style neighborhood restaurant in Highbury. James and Templeton have enlisted a helping hand in the kitchen from chef Naz Hassan, a former head chef at Pidgin in Hackney.
