Netflix is losing its edge.

Posted Jul 14, 2025 at 7:43 AM UTC Netflix is losing its edge.
Nielsen data compiled by the Entertainment Strategy Guy newsletter shows that Netflix's original titles have gradually been losing ground to original content from rival streaming platforms, such as Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, Apple TV Plus, and Paramount Plus.
While Netflix owned 80 percent of the weekly top ten charts in 2021, that's now down to 52 percent this year so far — and Disney Plus isn't doing so hot either.

2 Surprising Reasons Investors Should Look at Ford — Is It Time To Buy, Sell or Hold?

Auto manufacturer Ford surprised its employees earlier this year by announcing that it will be cutting expected stock award bonuses by 50% for its middle managers who operate above the company's 76,000 other employees worldwide. Meaning, only 1,650 of those managers will receive their expected yearly bonus. Why? Ford claims that the 50% cut has been instituted to focus on 'driving a high-performance culture that recognizes and rewards employees for their business contributions,' as Fortune has reported. Consider This: Read More: Ford CEO Jim Farley elaborated the move was made simply to close 'our competitive gap over the next few years' with electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers such as Tesla, Chinese car makers and now the looming threat of tariff-based price hikes. 'We're changing our culture to be more focused on quality and with accountable measures for all of our engineering teams and leadership,' Farley added. However, there are some who believe this benefit-slashing strategy is about more than just incentives, and that Ford may be in more trouble that it appears — something that current and prospective stockholders should be mindful of. While Farley has characterized these cuts as being incentive-based to increase productivity, a source with inside knowledge about the situation told the Associated Press that the move as actually made to cut increasing costs. Over the last year, Ford's stock has decreased by approximately 23% in the face of stiff competition, with the expectation that President Donald Trump's ongoing trade wars (and related tariffs) will only made the auto market more challenging in the near future. As a result, cost-cutting may be a major factor in Ford's survival. Find Out: Fortune has speculated that, since benefits such as stock-based awards are implemented specifically to keep employees, a benefit-cutting move such as Ford's was likely made as a 'headcount-reduction tactic' designed to alienate some employees into quitting. Again, this would be a move that would be made to further cut costs, albeit a rather extreme one — would could indicate Ford's financial issues might be more serious than the auto manufacturer has let on. For those who are already Ford stockholders, or considering buying Ford stock, the best bet at this point may be to simply hold. If you own Ford stock, hold and monitor the situation — while automaker's stock has dropped over the last year, these cost-cutting measures may actually right the ship and help the company. Similarly, for those considering Ford stock but have yet to buy, now may be the time to monitor the company's status before making the leap to being a stockholder. What the Stranger Things season 5 teaser trailer reveals

The first trailer for Stranger Things' last season is finally here, and it looks like the Netflix series will have an ending of epic proportions. Released on Wednesday, 16 July, the teaser for the first volume of new episodes — which lands on 26 November — follows the beloved characters as they prepare to face Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) and vanquish the Upside Down. The fourth season ended with the team left at their lowest point after Vecna brought his world to Hawkins through a series of Rifts, and it seems that series 5 will find the characters right where we left them. There were many exciting moments in the trailer that tease the story to come. Here is everything we could glean from the teaser and what it could mean. The teaser opens with Steve (Joe Keery) and the gang on a mission, using a radio to find the right frequency that they need to burn the Upside Down. With characters like Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Will (Noah Schnapp) and Robin (Maya Hawke) waiting in shelters to see if their quest will be a success. Hawkins has been placed under military quarantine as a result of Vecna's actions, with the government hunting for Eleven and forcing her into hiding. Hints of this military presence is clear in the trailer as Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) and Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) are seen cycling their trusty bikes around town whilst trucks and helicopters speed past them. The final battle against Vecna is upon the group and it will take all of them to take him down. This is mirrored in a speech given by Jonathan (Charlie Heaton) to Nancy (Natalia Dyer) as they wait in the dark of the Upside Down. He says: "After what we've been through, this thing, it ties us together, forever." Eleven may be needing to dodge the government in our world but her problems may well be worse in the other, as she's seen in the Upside Down running away from a Demagorgan. She is also seen with Hopper (David Harbour) as they search and investigate the Upside Down and all the strange things that are in it — including a wall of darkness that appears to be the breeding ground for Vecna's creatures. With the Rifts all over Hawkins it shouldn't come as a surprise that the creatures are also prowling our world too. One scene that brings to mind Jurassic World sees Lucas, his sister Erica (Priah Ferguson) and Max (Sadie Sink) hiding from a Demodog in Hawkins hospital. All hell is clearly about to break loose in the small town as an array of scenes show the characters faced with raining bullets, a full-fledged Demogorgan on a rampage and Steve racing into a Rift towards the Upside Down. Eleven, meanwhile, is also seen struggling with her extensive powers as the war rages. The war to save Hawkins will clearly not be an easy one, and while it's unclear exactly what the casualties will be there are scenes showing Nancy crying as she washes her blood-soaked hands, while another shows Dustin crying with Steve. Will is also clearly continuing to be a vessel for the Upside Down as he is shown falling into a trance in one scene and facing an unknown threat in another. And as this happens Harbour's Hopper can be heard saying: "Where ever this blood leads, I need you to fight one last time." Hopper and Joyce (Winona Ryder) are very much part of the fight too as they are both seen in the midst of the action. The final moments of the trailer shows a series of different images, including the characters watching in fear as Vecna tears through a portal into the world. And the trailer ends with the chilling declaration that he has "found" them. Stranger Things season 5 lands on Netflix in three parts, with Volume 1 (four episodes) premiering on 26 November, Volume 2 (three episodes) premiering on Christmas, and the show's finale airing on New Year's Eve.
