Hot conditions peak as monsoon moisture arrives in Utah for the middle of the week
A Red Flag Warning has been issued for parts of central and southern Utah Tuesday for the risk for dry lightning and possible fire ignitions due to the lightning. Tuesday high temperatures will be in the upper 90s to 100 for the Wasatch Front and near 106° for SW Utah.
A Heat Advisory is in effect for eastern Box Elder county, the Wasatch Front, and Tooele Valley for this afternoon through Tuesday late evening. The combination of near triple digit heat Monday, and triple digit heat Tuesday will help to increase the heat risk danger for northern Utah Tuesday.
Increasing moisture thanks to a monsoonal tap will help to aid in more clouds and moisture around the Beehive state for the middle of the work week. Look for chances for showers & storms on an isolated to scattered basis to increase. No washouts are in the forecast, but the chance for some pop-ups will become more widespread. Highs will cool due to the extra clouds and showers to the low to mid 90s along the Wasatch Front, and potentially below 100° for SW Utah.
Later this week, just in time for the 4th of July, we will begin to dry things out and heat things up. Friday will feature mostly sunny to partly sunny skies, with a very slight chance for a pop-up across northern Utah. Southern Utah will be dry and hot. Highs across southern Utah will warm back to near 100°, while highs across northern Utah will warm into the low to mid 90s. It gets even hotter and drier for the weekend with sunny skies and hot temperatures. Highs will warm back to the upper 90s across the north, and 100°+ for SW Utah!

Hot conditions peak as monsoon moisture arrives in Utah for the middle of the week
SALT LAKE CITY () — Happy Tuesday, Utah! Our Tuesday afternoon will feature a mix of clouds and sunshine across the state. We may begin to tap into a bit of monsoonal moisture, leading to a chance for isolated storms to develop over the higher terrain, and possibly drift into the valley areas. A Red Flag Warning has been issued for parts of central and southern Utah Tuesday for the risk for dry lightning and possible fire ignitions due to the lightning. Monsoonal moisture is on the move through Utah for the midweek
SALT LAKE CITY () – Happy Wednesday, Utah! We're into July, and after a hot start to the month with heat advisories, we will see highs drop about five degrees today. We will remain a few degrees above seasonal norms with temperatures along the Wasatch Front expected to hit the low to mid-90s, with Washington County closer to the St. George average of 100 degrees. You may also notice more cloud cover today as monsoon moisture continues to stream into the state with a southerly flow in place. Bottom Line? Increasing clouds and isolated thunderstorms today with an elevated flash flood threat. A monsoon set up is in place with a large area of high pressure near the Four Corners, and an area of low pressure to our west gradually moving inland. Our monsoon flow is grabbing some of this monsoon moisture to the south and ushering it into Utah meaning we have the chance of isolated thunderstorms today. As the low gets closer to Utah, we will see an uptick in storm potential especially Wednesday evening and into Thursday afternoon. Nocturnal storms are possible into Thursday morning and these storms will pack gusty winds, lightning and the chance of brief, heavy rain. With more moisture potential, the flash flood risk will increase today. Flash flooding is possible at all of our National Parks and surrounding recreation areas like Red Cliffs, Canyonlands, Grand Staircase and near Lake Powell. It's important to mention that you should never cross flood waters and seek higher ground if you are caught in the path of a flash flood. Slot canyons and normally dry washes in southern Utah are not safe. Looking ahead to your Independence Day, drier air will return with only a slight chance of a pop-up thunderstorm in Northern Utah. Daytime highs will be right around seasonal norms, so highs will be near 90 along the Wasatch Front and 100 in Washington County. High pressure will regain control with a chance of an uptick in winds, leading to potential fire danger. The holiday weekend looks sunny, hot and dry as of last check. Summer conditions can shift quickly, so stay weather aware this weekend. We'll keep you updated in our 4Warn Weather forecast both on-air and online, we are Good4Utah! Sunny weather settling into Central Ohio, peek at Red, White, & BOOM! forecast
Today: Drier sunshine, high 86 Tonight: Mainly clear, low 67 Thursday (Red, White, & BOOM!): Mixed clouds, stray spritz, high 88 (67) Friday (Independence Day): Mostly sunny, high 90 (68) Saturday: Few clouds, high 92 (71) Sunday: Late pop-up storms, high 93 (72) Good Wednesday morning! After yesterday's heavy rain, dry skies have quickly settled back into the area. Sunshine remains steady today and we can hopefully keep that trend strong into the holiday stretch! Skies remain on the mostly sunny side for today. A few clouds will try to pop up by the afternoon, but they won't be anything to add in any wet weather. Temperatures will find their way back to the mid 80s. Going into Red, White, & BOOM!, skies will remain mostly dry with a mix of sunshine and clouds. Temperatures will be building into the upper 80s. There is a trace amount of moisture trying to move in, allowing one or two showers to pop up throughout the day. July 4th will be much clearer and sunnier. The warming trend continues to build us into the 90s for the end of the work week. Going into the weekend, we're steady in the lower 90s. This will be a shorter stretch of heat as we start to fall again into next week. Spotty showers and storms will start to pop back up on Sunday and last through the first half of next week. Temperatures begin to cool, but still keep above average. We're falling to the upper 80s through Monday and Tuesday. -Joe Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
