Dora and the Search for Sol Dorado review – plucky teen explorer goes looking for lost Incan magic
Lorraine plays Dora, a teenage explorer who's grown up in the Amazon, raised on her grandfather's stories about the Incas. For years, Dora has been searching for clues to find Sol Dorado, a legendary golden sun that will grant one wish, joined by her cousin Diego (Jacob Rodriguez). The scriptwriters deserve credit for resisting the temptation to bolt on a love interest; instead, we have cousin Diego in the role conventionally given to a female character: the pretty but non-essential sidekick.
The movie's villain is celebrity archaeologist Camilla the Crusader (Daniella Pineda) who runs a theme park called Jungle World, where Dora and Diego have summer jobs. When the pair go off in search of Sol Dorado with their pals, Camilla dispatches a band of desperadoes to chase them through Inca tombs booby-trapped with giant bugs and spiked floors. The movie is not lacking in adventure, perhaps what's missing is a sense of fun. Dora didn't have the kids hooting with laughter like they did at the real Indiana Jones.
Dora and the Search for Sol Dorado is on Paramount+ now.

The completely free streaming service with 10,000 titles
Between Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney Plus and the rest, many of us are spending hundreds each year to watch our favourite shows. But not every streaming service comes with a monthly fee. In fact, there are a few free streaming services out there with huge catalogues of film and TV shows. You've probably heard of Tubi and Pluto, but let us introduce you to a lesser-known platform: Rakuten TV. Rakuten is what's known as a free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) platform, meaning users can watch TV channels and shows for free with adverts, as a compromise for not handing over your bank details. It boasts more than 10,000 titles in total, as well as live channels across sport, lifestyle, cooking, crime and mystery, reality, news and more. Where Rakuten differs from other free streamers, however, is that users can also buy or rent the latest film and TV releases on the platform. Simply pay to watch whatever takes your fancy, without footing the bill for an additional subscription fee on top. There are plenty of hugely popular titles ready to stream, with shows including House of the Dragon and The Last of Us available from £14.99 for one season. As you might expect, the free-to-stream options are less popular and well-known compared to the paid-for titles, but they're great for those looking for something nostalgic. Metro writer Caroline Westbrook has used Rakuten before, and shared her verdict on the free streamer: 'If nostalgia is your thing, then you can't go far wrong here. Want to dive into some Baywatch? Vintage episodes of 21 Jump Street? You've come to the right place. And there's no shortage of British TV favourites either, with the likes of Hell's Kitchen, Pointless and even classic episodes of The Graham Norton Show. 'But if it's the latest blockbusters you're after, it'll cost you. Yes, you can watch Final Destination: Bloodlines, the Minecraft movie and other recent hits, but you'll pay for the privilege. The free movies are a bit limited and obscure by comparison, but there are some familiar titles thrown in among the lesser-known offerings (and even a few box office gems). 'And Rakuten adds new free-to-watch content all the time, so it's worth keeping an eye on, as you never know what might show up.' TV series that are available for free include apocalyptic horror series Z Nation, as well as Clink, a Channel 5 drama set in a women's prison. There's also sci-fi series Sanctuary and Gordon Ramsay's Hell's Kitchen. Meanwhile, free on-demand films include 2018 romcom I Feel Pretty, starring Amy Schumer, hit mystery thriller Gone Girl, the critically acclaimed Tangerine and 00s classics like Just My Luck and Bring It On. TV shows that have their own linear channels (meaning the episodes run back-to-back at all hours of the day) include Kim's Convenience, Mr Bean, Ninja Warrior, Great British Menu, Andromeda and The Graham Norton Show. On the Rakuten TV store, users can rent or buy early home releases of films like Final Destination: Bloodlines, The Amateur, which stars Rami Malek, and The Salt Path with Gillian Anderson and Jason Isaacs. These popular titles generally cost £15.99 to rent or £19.99 to buy, while older titles are available for less. Rakuten is compatible with a wide range of smart TVs, including models from Samsung, LG, Philips, Hisense, Panasonic and Sony. The app is also compatible with Chromecast, Android TV, Fire TV, Apple TV and TiVo. There's a mobile app too, or users can watch on a browser by visiting More Trending To rent or buy titles, you'll have to register for a free account, but this isn't necessary to watch the free on-demand content or live TV. Registered users have other benefits too, including access to a wishlist function and a library that stores bought or rented content. You can also watch on up to three devices at the same time with an account. View More » This article was first published on June 24, 2025. Got a story? 'Feminine' little known Ghost perfume that 'lingers all day' under £30 on Amazon
The famed brand offers many alternative scents that can be hard to find. Many of us will be well acquainted with Ghost perfumes. Famed for its iconic bottles and lush scents, the brand has earned its cult-like reputation over the years. Of course, the particular bottles that come to mind are either the bestselling Deep Night or its Original Fragrance, although there are a few other little known alternatives that can be hard to come by. One of them is the Whitelight Eau de Toilette, with a 50ml only available to buy from Amazon for £29.30, and budget high street store Savers where it is a touch cheaper for £24.99. Launched in 2016, this "feminine" perfume boasts notes of fruits and florals, with the beloved firm itself saying that it is was inspired by the moon entering a new phase, creating a scent that was "cool, clear and futuristic." It opens with top notes of crunchy pear and crisp mandarin, with iced violet, jasmine and rose making up its heart. The scent then finishes on notes of patchouli, powdery vanilla orchid and amber for a "bold, ultra-modern finish." Ghost Whitelight Eau de Toilette, 50ml £29.30 Amazon Buy here Anyone who is familiar with Ghost perfumes will instantly recognise the crescent-moon shaped bottle that houses the Whitelight fragrance, with this version boasting an iridescent style finish. For a similar scent that boasts top fruity notes, we'd suggest checking out the bestselling Vera Wang Princess Eau de Toilette that opens with apples, apricot and mandarin, with Superdrug stocking a 100ml bottle for £26. Perfume fans who'd prefer something that is more of a woody, amber based scent, might be more keen on the MUGLER Alien Goddess, with a 60ml now on offer for half-price at Boots for £48.50. Despite the Whitelight Eau de Toilette being a less common scent for Ghost, it's still a winner for many beauty fans, as it averages an impressive 4.8 rating on Amazon for its "long-lasting" and "summery" aroma. One five-star review read: "This Ghost perfume (the white one is currently the cheapest on Amazon) is absolutely lovely! It has a soft, sweet, fruity-floral scent with hints of peach and vanilla that isn't overpowering but still lingers all day, especially on clothes. "I was pleasantly surprised by how long-lasting it is for the price, and it smells far more expensive than it actually costs. Perfect for everyday wear or as a gift – great value and definitely recommend." Beauty deal of the week YSL Black Opium remains an iconic perfume - and we know where to bag the newest edition for its cheapest price. The YSL BLack Opium Le Parfum offers a more vanilla-heavy fragrance that has been hailed as "intoxicating" in reviews, with a 50ml now half-price at Boots after being dropped from £115 to £57.50. Massive saving aside, it's the cheapest it can be bought for at the moment, as rival retailers Superdrug, Lookfantastic and The Perfume Shop still stock it at full-price. This interpretation of the iconic perfume was only launched in 2022, with its original floral gourmand fragrance still offering its famed notes that include pear accord, green mandarin, orange flower petals, jasmine sambac and cinnamon. However, the iconic coffee accord has been twisted with four different, yet still complimentary, notes of vanilla, which is said to be its most important ingredient, to create an "unexpected smoothness, with uncompromising intensity." Meanwhile, the unique glossy bottle that has been crafted from a precious black stone, with its dazzling glitter emblem at the heart, eludes to the luxuriousness of the fragrance contained within. As for the YSL Black Opium Le Parfum, Boots shoppers wanting to take advantage of the half-price discount will be glad to hear it has amassed a 4.7 rating from thousands of customers who say it "lasts all day" and "literally turns heads" when it is worn. One five-star review read: "I love the fragrance. I used a lot the first time, not realising how intense it was. It lasts all day and continues to smell great. I literally turn heads when I wear it." Don't miss Boots' half-price discount on the YSL Black Opium Le Parfum (50ml) that is now £57.50, down from £115. A second shopper said: "I love all the Ghost perfumes but this has become my favourite. It's light and summery, not overpowering in the least and it lingers." Someone else added: "Love the smell, lasts long. Do not regret buying it. It is very feminine. Compare to other ghost perfumes it is sweeter and softer would recommend for younger ladies." There was one review that criticised longevity, reading: "The bottle is lovely but the scent is practically non existent. Not impressed at all I'm afraid." Although, someone else who didn't have this issue wrote: "I love Ghost perfume. I didn't know about this one. I sprayed some on my wrist, and I can still smell it 2 hours later. It's a nice clean fresh smell. I love it and would highly recommend." Amazon and £24.99 at Savers.

Woman avoids 'holiday packing stress' with Shein trick that 'makes so much room'
One TikTok user claimed 'this will be a game changer' If you're getting ready to jet off on holiday with a whole new wardrobe, a TikTok user suggests keeping the packaging from any Shein orders that arrive for a handy reason. Laura, known as @ on TikTok, shared her smart packing trick last summer. And it seems many Shein customers are planning to follow suit for their holidays this year. Rather than folding clothes and struggling to accommodate every potential outfit, Laura offered a "genius" solution that allowed her to fit an entire wardrobe into her suitcase with ease. Each outfit was neatly stowed away in a zip-up Shein package bag, granting her 'heaps of extra suitcase space '. In the clip, she said: "You can shove [the packages] in and just push all the air out. It makes so much room." In the caption, she explained: The best packing hack!!!!! I feel like an organised queen!!!!" She continued: "This is a game changer and squishes your clothes together so you can fit more in." During the video, she showed off how she'd sorted her clothes into categories, including pyjamas, shorts, dresses, and tops. In one pouch, she managed to stuff 12 swimwear sets. After packing 11 Shein parcels worth of clothing in her case, Laura still had room to fit toiletries and other essentials for her trip. Many people in the comments were impressed by her 'holiday packing hack'. One said: "What a good idea!" Another added: "I always do this. Shein bags are great. I used to buy A4 zip folders before Shein came along!" A third wrote: "I've just dug out all my SHEIN bags for my holiday. This will be a game changer!" Someone else suggested: "Could you not just use packing cubes? It's basically the same thing." Some leapt to Laura's defence, adding: "The air holes make them easy to flatten on top of each other. No way you'd get that with packing cubes!" A fifth asked: "Do they not get really creased?" Laura responded: "No because they are rolled up just like they would be in my case - if anything it's better because it keeps them together." Someone else offered a great use for your bags once you arrive on holiday too. They said: "SHEIN bags are also fab for keeping stuff dry in your beach bag/ pool bag! Love them!" Someone else replied: "Wow! I need to stop throwing mine away." They added: "Who knew they could be so useful!" Most Shein orders come inside one of these bags, so it's worth stocking up to get your money's worth. Alternatively, you could buy similar ziplock bags yourself from places like Amazon if you don't shop from Shein.
