BiH Court lifts detention for Serb leaders
Under the new measures, Stevandic and Viskovic must report every 14 days at the local police stations. The Court will review the enforcement of these measures bi-monthly.
The Court had also lifted the detention of RS President Milorad Dodik on July 4, after he gave a statement to prosecutors. At the same time, a measure was imposed requiring Dodik to report periodically to a designated state authority.
Goran Bubic, attorney for the RS leaders, said their voluntary cooperation removed the legal grounds for continued detention. He accepted the reporting measures and waived any right to appeal.
All three had previously been detained for failing to respond to summonses in a case concerning alleged attempts to undermine BiH's constitutional order.
BiH is made up of two autonomous entities, the RS, with a predominately Serbian population, and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with mostly Bosniaks and Croats. The two entities have coexisted under a weak central government.

China to take more active part in promoting comprehensive strategic partnership with Australia: FM
KUALA LUMPUR, July 11 (Xinhua) -- China is ready to promote the comprehensive strategic partnership with Australia through a more proactive approach, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said here on Friday. China is willing to work with Australia to prepare for the next stage of high-level exchanges, maintain the momentum of improvement in bilateral ties and properly manage their differences, Wang said. Wang made the remarks during a meeting with Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong in the Malaysian capital on the sidelines of the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting and related meetings. Over the past three years, China-Australia relations have stabilized, turned around and achieved positive results, said Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee. It proves that as long as the two countries uphold a correct positioning of their partnership, bilateral relations can develop steadily and continue to yield results, Wang said. The Chinese foreign minister noted that Australia's rational and pragmatic policy toward China serves the interests of both countries and aligns with the trend of the times. For her part, Wong said that Australia is committed to developing a positive and pragmatic relationship with China. Both sides are making every effort to prepare for high-level exchanges and look forward to achieving positive outcomes, she said, adding that dialogue and cooperation between Australia and China in trade, tourism and other fields have continued to make progress, and personnel exchanges have become increasingly active. Wong noted that Australia remains firmly committed to the one-China policy and does not support "Taiwan independence." Australia is willing to engage in candid communication and deepen cooperation with China to promote the sustained and positive development of bilateral relations, she said. Wong said that Australia supports the central role of ASEAN and is committed to maintaining regional peace and stability. The two sides also exchanged views on issues including the South China Sea and the Ukraine crisis.

Roundup: OPEC seminar highlights energy transition, cooperation
VIENNA, July 11 (Xinhua) -- The 9th International Seminar, hosted in Vienna by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) from July 9 to 10, has attracted widespread attention to the possible paths for countries toward energy transition. OPEC Secretary General Haitham Al Ghais said that OPEC believes each country has its own path toward energy transition, and there is no one-size-fits-all solution. "The energy pie is growing. The mix is growing," he added. Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer, Austria's minister for economy, energy and tourism, said the energy sector is undergoing transformation, and all stakeholders should be included in the conversation to ensure a successful transition. Under the theme "Charting Pathways Together: The Future of Global Energy," the event saw global energy leaders discussing hot issues including energy security, investment and emissions reduction within the context of energy transition. Noting the current complex geopolitical situation, Mukhtar Babayev, special representative of the president of Azerbaijan on climate issues, stressed the importance of enhancing multilateral cooperation and international agreements. Solar and wind energy sources can offer new opportunities for energy security, he said, adding, "Financial assistance is crucial for investing in energy infrastructure and renewable energy projects in developing countries." Luz Elena Gonzalez, Mexico's secretary of energy, highlighted the importance of the sustainable use of hydrocarbons while advancing an energy transition that prioritizes access, social justice, and inclusion. She called for broader investments to ensure all people can benefit from modern energy access, particularly women and indigenous communities. Mohammad A. Abunayyan, founder and chairman of the Board of Directors of ACWA Power, spoke highly of China's performance in broadening its energy mix and advancing its energy transition during a high-level roundtable on Thursday. He also emphasized the potential of green hydrogen and other renewable sources. During the seminar, OPEC launched its 2025 World Oil Outlook, which forecasts a 23 percent rise in global energy demand by 2050. Global oil demand is expected to continue growing steadily, the report noted. The analysis reflects recent developments in energy and the global economy, including major shifts in energy policy as leaders respond to challenges related to energy security, affordability, and emissions reduction, according to an article on the OPEC website.
