Elle Fanning Finally Reacted To 'Sunrise On The Reaping' Fans Calling For Her To Play Effie
Here's what Elle Fanning said about playing Effie Trinket in Sunrise on the Reaping.
Who's playing Effie Trinket in Sunrise on the Reaping?
Elle Fanning will step into the role of a young Effie Trinket (played by Elizabeth Banks in the original Hunger Games series), who serves as the District 12 stylist in the 50th Hunger Games. And Elle's convinced the fans had something to do with the role.
'I think fans made this happen in a way. [Lionsgate] said they were getting kind of hounded online, like, 'Elle needs to play Effie,'" Elle told MTV. "Effie has always been my favorite character. I think Elizabeth Banks, she brought...layers to that character. I love her."
"I'm super excited. I texted the producers as well, and I think she's perfect," Elizabeth Banks told at her The Better Sister premiere May 21. "I think everyone's really happy. And I'm really happy about that. I'm excited for the next generation to have their Effie."
And the internet has gone crazy. "The most locked in casting director of recent memory," one X user , while another , "she's so perfect for the role."
"if this is true then their casting is on point!" a third person . (It is true, and it is on point).
But could we see Elizabeth Banks return, too? The actress told that she'd be open to returning — maybe in a Sunrise on the Reaping epilogue? "Yeah, of course, I love her," she says. "I would, if the fans want to."
"I love Effie, it's one of my favorite characters," she continues. "She was not really in Mockingjay, so a lot of that came from the empathy that I got to bring to that character and the community I built with all of the collaborators on that film, including Suzanne Collins, and I think that Effie and Haymitch together became such a phenomenon that it's no surprise to me that Haymitch is getting a story now too."
Who else do you want to see in the cast? Check out our with producer Nina Jacobson for more!

Roku Just Launched an Ad-Free Streaming Service for $2.99 a Month
If you're fed up with rising streaming service costs, Roku has some good news for you. Roku founder and CEO Anthony Wood says that the company's just-launched streaming service cost 'less than a cup of coffee.' However, he added, it is not meant to directly compete with Netflix and other streamers, but rather, complement them. Roku's new ad-free service, Howdy, dropped today, and it comes at a time when the cost of commercial-free streaming has skyrocketed. It's almost expected now that streamers will raise their prices annually. For example, Netflix hiked its rates earlier this year and its premium plan, which is ad-free and supports 4K streaming, now costs $24.99 a month. And just last month, Peacock bumped up its prices to the point its ad-free plan now costs $16.99 a month. 'We're meeting a real need for consumers who want to unwind with their favorite movies and shows uninterrupted, and on their terms,' says Wood in a press release. Howdy now provides a more budget-friendly option at just $2.99 a month. The service will offer 10,000 hours of content from partners like Lionsgate, Warner Bros. Discovery, and FilmRise, along with some Roku Original titles. This includes classic movies like The Graduate, Reservoir Dogs, and Dirty Dancing. 'With engagement of over 125 million people a day, Roku is the perfect partner to launch a more accessible complement to the higher-priced SVODs,' says Jim Packer, President of Worldwide Television Distribution at Lionsgate. Howdy will be available initially exclusively on Roku devices, but will roll out to mobile and other platforms soon. The new ad-free offering joins the company's other streaming service, the Roku Channel, which is a free, ad-supported TV platform. These services, which include Fox's Tubi and Paramount's PlutoTV, have grown in popularity in recent years and have created a new revenue stream for media companies. The Roku Channel is the most popular of these services and accounted for 2.5% of all television viewing in the U.S. this past June, according to Nielsen. In June, the company signed a major advertising deal with Amazon Ads aimed at making it easier for brands to reach viewers across both companies' streaming platforms. The partnership gives advertisers access to more than 80 million U.S. households through a combination of Roku and Fire TV devices. The launch of Howdy also comes just months after Roku acquired the live-TV provider FrndlyTV for $185 million. The service provides users access to 50 live channels, including the History Channel, A&E, and the Hallmark Channel for plans ranging $8.99 to $12.99 per month.

Roku Expands Streaming Options With New Ad-Free Service At $2.99/Month
Streaming pioneer Roku, Inc. (NASDAQ:ROKU) introduced Howdy on Tuesday, a new subscription video-on-demand service priced at just $2.99 per month. The addition underscores Roku's strategy to diversify revenue by expanding both third-party and first-party subscription offerings. The ad-free platform goes live nationwide in the U.S. on Tuesday, aiming to fill a gap for viewers seeking uninterrupted, high-quality reporting its second-quarter results on July 31, the firm said, 'We see a significant opportunity to serve digital-first, performance advertisers, and capture incremental ad dollars beyond traditional TV in digital budgets.' Howdy will be accessible on Roku devices beginning August 5, with a rollout to mobile and additional platforms planned soon. According to Benzinga Pro, ROKU stock has gained over 63% in the past year. Investors can gain exposure to the stock via ARK Innovation ETF (BATS:ARKK). The service debuts with thousands of movies and series, nearly 10,000 hours of content, curated from inaugural partners Lionsgate, Warner Bros. Discovery and FilmRise. At a subscription cost comparable to a daily cup of coffee, Howdy positions itself as a complement to premium services. CEO Anthony Wood stated that the service is built for viewers who want flexibility, no contracts, no trials, just a low flat rate and zero ads. Lionsgate's Jim Packer applauded Roku's scale, reaching over 125 million U.S. viewers daily, as ideal for monetizing a broader audience. FilmRise parent Radial Entertainment's Johnny Holden added that Howdy opens new avenues to maximize content value and audience reach. To celebrate the launch, Roku will light up Times Square billboards with a friendly 'howdy' message through August 31, showcasing premiere titles and inviting passersby to subscribe. Howdy joins The Roku Channel, the most-watched free ad-supported streaming service in the U.S., and Frndly TV, the second-ranked live TV subscription among cord cutters. Last month, Roku raised its full-year outlook for Platform revenue to $4.075 billion. Devices revenue is expected to decline year-over-year, impacted by tariffs. The company expects full-year revenue of $4.65 billion, up from a prior guide of $4.55 billion. Price Action: ROKU shares are trading lower by 1.48% to $84.56 at last check Tuesday.
