Full Strawberry Moon expected to rise in Kentucky sky
LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — June's full moon, also known as the Strawberry Moon, will be the lowest full moon that has appeared in the night sky in nearly 20 years.
The moon will be visible in the sky Tuesday night and the morning of June 11, rising around 8:30 p.m. EST and peaking at around 3:45 a.m.
The Strawberry Moon's name doesn't come from its color but rather from its appearance, originally occurring around the time of the summer strawberry harvest.

The 2025 Strawberry Moon is special because it will appear during a major lunar standstill, an event that occurs approximately every 18 to 19 years, during which the moon appears lower in the sky.
Tuesday night's forecast will bring optimal viewing conditions with a mainly clear sky expected. Wildfire smoke is back in the region and likely provides hazy skies but shouldn't obstruct the view.

Storms cause damage in Southaven, flooding in East Memphis
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Brief but intense thunderstorms on Sunday knocked down trees and may have overturned a truck in Southaven, and created flash flooding in East Memphis, according to photos and videos. In Southaven, several trees and lights were down on Airport Industrial Drive near Airways and Stateline Road. A tractor trailer appeared to be overturned. There were not yet any official wind measurements, but radar suggests winds may have been around 60 mph in the Southaven area when the damage occurred. In East Memphis, Poplar Avenue had deep standing water near Clark Tower. RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — After Tropical Storm Chantal made landfall near Litchfield, South Carolina, around 5 a.m. early Sunday morning, the storm turned northward — with a major portion of rain dumped to the west of the circulation. Chantal weakened to a tropical depression and generally went north, crossing over Raleigh, but the western location of the storm's intense rainfall cells took the flooding over an area generally south of the Triangle, then northwest to Moore County, and then northward. The path of the storm — along with the rotation of torrential rainfall repeatedly over some areas — took the worst of Chantal over Lee, Chatham, Durham, Orange, and Person counties. The track and continued rotation of sheets of rain meant massive amounts of water in a generally vertical band running just west of Wake County and east of Guilford County. FEMA authorizes funds for fighting Deer Creek Fire
SAN JUAN COUNTY, Utah () — The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced on Saturday it has authorized the use of federal funds to help fight the Deer Creek Fire. The Deer Creek Fire, which started on Thursday, is estimated to be at 7,500 acres and is zero percent contained as of Saturday afternoon. FEMA approved the state of Utah's request after it was received this afternoon and determining that the fire threatened such destruction that it would constitute a major disastser. The Deer Creek Fire has destroyed ten homes and was threatening another 140 homes and 600 other structures, and mandatory evacuations are in place for 400 people. The authorization allows FEMA funding to become available to pay 75 percent of the state's eligible firefighting costs under approved grants. These grants do not cover individual home or business owners and do not cover other infrastructure damage caused by the fire.
