'Rust 'Armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed Released from Prison
She served the maximum 18-month prison sentence for committing involuntary manslaughter
She additionally faced another firearm charge after she brought a gun to a bar in New Mexico in 2021Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the film armorer convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the fatal shooting on the set of Rust, was released from prison on Friday, May 23.
Gutierrez-Reed, 27, was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins in March 2024. She was acquitted of an additional charge of tampering with evidence.
She was responsible for weapons and firearms used on the Western film set, when a loaded prop revolver was supplied to Alec Baldwin, resulting in the shooting death of Hutchins in 2021. Baldwin's case was dismissed in July 2024.
A spokesperson for the New Mexico Department of Corrections confirmed she was released in Arizona to a region near the Nevada and California borders, per NBC News. PEOPLE reached out to the NMDC for further comment but did not immediately hear back.
In 2023, a grand jury indicted Gutierrez-Reed on a felony charge of bringing a firearm into a New Mexico bar on Oct. 1, 2021. This conviction resulted in 18 months of probation.
She served 18 months in prison for the involuntary manslaughter conviction in the Rust shooting following her 2024 sentencing. Gutierrez-Reed was held at Western New Mexico Correctional Facility in Grants, N.M.
Gutierrez-Reed was released under the condition of dual supervision under probation and parole authorities to take place concurrently, spokesperson Brittany Roembach told the outlet. She will be on parole in the manslaughter case for a year, through May 23, 2026.
She is required to follow the conditions set forth by the board, some of which include electric monitoring, following a curfew, and either getting a job or enrolling in school, per her certificate obtained by CBS News.
Gutierrez-Reed received the maximum sentence for her role in Hutchins' death, during which Baldwin fired five rounds from a loaded prop gun that would kill her and injure director Joel Souza.
In January 2023 ahead of her trial, her defense attorneys Jason Bowles and Todd J. Bullion said in a statement, "Hannah is, and has always been, very emotional and sad about this tragic accident. But she did not commit involuntary manslaughter."

"These charges are the result of a very flawed investigation, and an inaccurate understanding of the full facts," they added. "We intend to bring the full truth to light and believe Hannah will be exonerated of wrongdoing by a jury."
Reed has yet to comment on her release.

Inglewood residents complain of noise from HARD Summer music festival, Lady Gaga concert
Inglewood residents are once against raising concerns over the booming noise brought on by the HARD Summer music festival, which is this time paired with Lady Gaga playing right across the street. Tens of thousands of fans flocked to Hollywood Park, next to SoFi Stadium for the HARD Summer festival and just steps away from the Kia Forum, where Lady Gaga is closing out the Los Angeles leg of her "The Mayhem Ball Tour." "I just love the energy, trying to have a good time, going to have fun," said Armando Alvarez, one of the thousands in Inglewood on Saturday for the music. "It doesn't matter where I am, just trying to have an adventure and go with the flow." While some concertgoers like Alvarez love the vibes in Inglewood, some residents are already fed up with the dueling performances. "It just sounded like a lot of banging, a lot of cheering and a lot of loud drumming," said Latrice Bates. She lives just down the street from SoFi Stadium and recalls the impact last year's HARD Summer festival had on her son. "He tosses and turns. He wakes up and says he can't sleep," Bates said. Last year, complaints came from as far as the South Bay, including places like El Segundo and Redondo Beach. City officials in the area reported more than 100 noise complaints from the festival, which led them to ban performances from the SoFi's American Airlines Plaza. Inglewood Mayor James Butts said that he wants the city to be an entertainment hub, but promised that this year's event would differ from last year's. "Last year, what happened was the main stage was American Airlines Plaza, 50 feet elevated from the floor of SoFi, and it was facing west and that, combined with atmospheric conditions, allowed the bass frequencies to run along the clouds," Butts said. He said that a changeup in where speakers were located, along with a newly-implemented concert curfew to coincide with the city curfew of 10 p.m., should help lessen residents' concerns. "It ran over last year. It will not run over this year," he said. "If I have to pull the plug myself, it will end at 10 o'clock." Prior to this weekend, HARD Summer event planners said that they were aware of last year's complaints, and that "extensive efforts" were taken "to mitigate sound levels with operational changes." Despite these promises from city officials and event organizers, some people living in the South Bay still took to social media to comment on the sound from the events, which some said they planned on reporting once again.

New entertainment venue in West Sacramento set to open at former Safeway location
A brand-new entertainment venue in West Sacramento is set to open next week. The Boulevard will feature an arcade, bowling alley and restaurant. The 37,000 square foot venue is on West Capitol Avenue and will be in what used to be a Safeway that closed in 2018. "West Sacramento is growing, and we're super happy to be a part of everything that is happening for West Sacramento," said Tami Thompson, the director of marketing. The entertainment venue has something for families and the 21-and-up crowd. "We have a lot of immersive gaming, we have over 65 of the latest state-of-the-art arcade games," Thompson said. The venue offers spark bowling, a tech-twist on the classic game with light-up lanes that follow the ball as it moves towards the pins. There's also a restaurant and bar, laser tag and billiards. But it may be the 30 televisions and 17-foot "wow" wall that puts the new business on the watch list for sports fans with Major League Baseball a few blocks away. "You can come watch the A's game, come after the game, we're trying to be a regional attraction for the greater Sacramento area," Thompson said. Thompson said the location, just off Interstate 80 and near Sutter Health Park, sets the Boulevard apart from other area attractions. "Maybe visitors who aren't from West Sacramento can come up here and reach us in a reasonable amount of time," Thompson said. With dozens of new jobs created for the city, the final step, opening day, is a week from Friday. There's a VIP event on Wednesday. A paid ticket gets you in first and all the proceeds go to three local charities: Loaves and Fishes, Habitat for Humanity and the Yolo County Children's Alliance.

1 teen killed, 2 others wounded in Coachella shooting
One teenage boy was killed and two others were wounded during a shooting in Coachella on Saturday. It happened at around 3:45 a.m. at a home in the 49000 block of Corte Molino, according to a news release from the Riverside County Sheriff's Office. "Upon arrival, deputies discovered three adolescent males suffering from apparent gunshot wounds," the release said. One of the boys was declared dead at the scene. He has not yet been identified. The two other victims were taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition, deputies said. RSO homicide investigators assumed the investigation and have yet to determine a motive or identify a potential suspect in the incident.
