The Office's Jenna Fischer Defends ‘Really Good' Show After Steve Carell's Exit
Fischer, who played Pam Beesley for all nine seasons, recently wrapped Office Ladies, a rewatch podcast series with fellow cast member Angela Kinsey. After watching all 201 episodes, Fischer has some thoughts about the later seasons.
One of the more heated debates involving The Office revolves around the show's final two seasons. Noticeably absent from Seasons 8 and 9 is Carell, who played Michael Scott. Carell exited the show after the seventh season. Many consider Michael's departure a turning point in the show, as The Office's final two seasons were less celebrated and received more criticism.
Fischer recently spoke about The Office on Fly on the Wall with Dan Carvey and David Spade. After completing the podcast, Fischer defended the quality of Seasons 8 and 9.
'My biggest takeaway from having rewatched it was that it's really good the whole time,' Fischer told Carvey and Spade.
Fischer is aware of the criticism the show received post-Carell. However, Fischer notes that some of her favorite moments happened in those final two seasons.
'I think there was this lore, especially among the cast and the creatives, that maybe we hit our peak in Season 3 or Season 4,' Fischer explained. 'And also this belief that the two seasons after Steve left, we were just treading water and maybe they weren't as good. But when I watched everything, some of my favorite episodes were in Seasons 8 and 9 after Steve had left. There were still these amazing storylines.'
Fischer's favorite moments occurred between Seasons 4 and 6, which include the Dinner Party episode and the Michael Scott Paper Company storyline.
The Office ran for nine seasons from 2005 to 2013. All 201 episodes are streaming on Peacock.

Grimm Reboot: Elizabeth Tulloch Offers ‘Exciting' Update on Potential Peacock Series — Would She Return?
It's been seven months since news first broke of a Grimm reboot being developed at Peacock, and we've been practically woging with anticipation ever since. So when TVLine recently connected with original series star Elizabeth Tulloch, we couldn't resist asking for an update, and the woman formerly known as Juliette (or Eve, depending on the day) was happy to oblige. 'I don't think they would do a reboot or a spinoff or whatever it's going to be without David's involvement.' Grimm originally aired for six seasons (2011–2017) on NBC, starring Giuntoli as Nick Burkhardt, a detective who descends from a long line of Grimms — aka slayers of fairytale monsters known as Wesen. 'It's pretty exciting,' Tulloch says of the show's still-growing fanbase, which she attributes to the show's multiple streaming homes. 'A lot of people are sort of finding Grimm. We did 123 episodes, and it has like 90% on Rotten Tomatoes still.' As for whether Tulloch would like to reprise one or both of her roles in a potential continuation of Grimm… you'll have to watch the interview: In addition to Giuntoli and Tulloch, Grimm also starred Claire Coffee, Russell Hornsby, Silas Weir Mitchell, Bree Turner, Reggie Lee, Sasha Roiz and Jacqueline Toboni. Both are reportedly involved in Peacock's potential reboot, along with original series producers Lynn Kouf, Hazy Mills Productions and Universal Television. 'Jurassic World Rebirth' releases on digital this week: Where to watch
It's dinos vs. humans once again with the release of "Jurassic World Rebirth," the seventh film in the popular franchise. In the five years after the events of "Jurassic World Dominion," the planet's ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs and those remaining only exist in "isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived," the film's synopsis says. "The three most colossal creatures across land, sea and air within that tropical biosphere hold, in their DNA, the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind," it adds. Zora Bennett (Scarlet Johansson) is tasked to lead a skilled team on a top-secret mission to secure the genetic material. Variety The reports of Craig Robinson's retirement from comedy appear to have been greatly exaggerated. Turns out 'The Office' star's so-called 'retirement' is believed to be part of a new brand marketing campaign expected to be unleashed in the coming days — and perhaps for a division of AT&T. A good indicator that this is part of a teaser campaign, as it is doubtful Robinson would actually spend that kind of outdoor advertising cash to reveal a career change. Those billboards were in AT&T-style blue, furthering the suspicion that this is part of a new campaign for the telco giant. Why is it believed to be AT&T? Robinson has previously starred in AT&T commercials, jokingly calling himself the company's 'Chief Technology Officer' in one AT&T Business Internet ad, alongside his former 'The Office' co-star Brian Baumgartner. Another spot featured Robinson and Baumgartner along side more 'The Office' alums, including Rainn Wilson, Jenna Fischer, Creed Bratton and Kate Flannery. AT&T and Robinson's reps did not respond to multiple requests for comment. The 'Craig Robinson is Quitting Comedy' billboards went unreported, but then Robinson last week upped the ante by posting on his Instagram account that he had a 'Life update: I'm officially quitting comedy to focus on my true calling. Stay tuned. I'm working on something huge.' That post eventually made its way to the media, and many outlets posted Robinson's note at face value, without noting that he made is announcement with a wink and a nod. (Yes, Variety is included.) Robinson followed up that post with another video, where he made his true intentions even more clear: 'Hey guys, big shout out to all my small business owners. Hey, you guys got any advice for me while I'm trying to get my business afloat? I hit a few bumps in the road and I sure would appreciate you guys' tips.' We're guessing AT&T has some internet tips for small business owners that Robinson will be sharing in no time. Meanwhile, here's another reason it's pretty clear that Robinson isn't really quitting comedy: He's got a full slate of shows booked for the rest of the summer. Robinson is scheduled to appear at the Omaha Funny Bone club later this week, followed by a gig in Los Angeles at the Comedy Store on July 14. Next month, he has dates lined up in Orlando, Seattle, Nashville, Detroit and Toledo. He also has plenty of projects in the works too, including the Netflix animated adventure 'In Your Dreams' and 'The Bad Guys 2.'
