Florida football lands first 2027 commitment from blue-chip athlete Tramond Collins
Florida football landed its first commitment from the 2027 recruiting class this weekend from four-star athlete Tramond Collins following his appearance at the program's annual Grille in the Ville event.
The 6-foot-2-inch, 183-pound prospect out of Cottondale (Florida) who is also listed at wide receiver by 247Sports chose the Gators over seven total offers, which also include the Florida State Seminoles, Kentucky Wildcats and Tennessee Volunteers. Billy Napier and Co. put on a show for the young recruit on Saturday, which was clearly enough to earn the verbal pledge.
Collins amassed 661 yards on 31 carries and nine rushing touchdowns while catching 13 passes for 402 passing yards and six touchdowns during his high school sophomore campaign. On defense, he recorded 33 tackles, two fumble recoveries and one interception.
The Sunshine State product is also a standout on the track and the basketball court. Collins earned the regional title in the 200-meter dash last season, running times of 10.89 in the 100-meter dash and 21.89 in the 200-meter dash; he averaged 13.1 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 2.3 steals per game on the parquet.
Tramond Collins' Recruiting Summary
Collins is ranked No. 179 overall and No. 8 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 272 and 10, respectively.
"Three-phase impact player as a sophomore at Cottondale, which went 9-1 in Florida's rural classification," 247Sports director of scouting Andrew Ivins begins.
"Got snaps at WR, QB, DB and LB while also serving as a return man. Carried the ball 31 times for 661 yards (21.3 YPC) and 9 TD while also catching 13 passes for 402 yards (30.9 YPC) and 6 TD on offense while totaling 33 tackles, 2 FR and 1 INT on defense. Added a KORTD."

James Harrison says Steelers could cut Aaron Rodgers midseason under one condition
Everyone has an opinion on what the Aaron Rodgers-led Steelers are capable of — but the legendary James Harrison might've just dropped the boldest prediction yet. On a recent episode of the Nightcap podcast, Harrison argued that Rodgers could be released — under one condition: Pittsburgh starts losing. "If [the Steelers] start losing and it's looking like they ain't gonna make above .500, I think it gets real ugly, real fast," Harrison said. "To the point where they may just be like, 'You know what, let's let this dude go midseason. For Aaron, let's just get him outta here and put one of these other quarterbacks in.' Mike [Tomlin] ain't going nowhere." While midseason struggles leading to a major change under center aren't unheard of — releasing Rodgers seems extremely unlikely, especially if his mentorship of rookie Will Howard continues to show positive signs of growth. Rodgers has been candid about his likely retirement after 2025 — but if Harrison's prediction comes to fruition, his career may not end on his terms after all. Two former Spartans fail to make the cut at the 2025 Rocket Classic
Two former Michigan State golfers had high hopes for their time at their hometown PGA Tour event, the Rocket Classic, but unfortunately, things did not go as planned. Ryan Brehm, a longtime PGA Tour veteran, and Ashton McCulloch, an amateur on the tour, both failed to make the cut at Detroit's PGA Tour event at the Detroit Golf Club. For Brehm, things were looking promising. After a one-under round on Thursday, he was four-under in his second round on Friday. A terrible finish ensued for Brehm, though, who ended the day even par. McCulloch had a week to forget. A six-over round on Thursday was parlayed with a two-over Friday round, making him eight-over on the tournament. Both former Spartans will not see the weekend in Detroit.
