Unihertz is now taking pre-orders for the sequel to its BlackBerry Passport clone the Titan 2
Earlier this month we told you that Unihertz was planning to list the Titan 2 on Kickstarter. This would be the sequel to 2019's Titan, a phone that was a clone of the 2014 BlackBerry Passport, now a cult model. The Passport and the Titan both carried a 4.5-inch display with a 1440 x 1440 square resolution and it featured a hybrid physical touchscreen QWERTY keyboard. The Passport had BlackBerry 10 pre-installed while the Titan launched with Android 9 Pie and received an update to Android 10. Unihertz released a video for the Titan 2 calling it "the first QWERTY smartphone reborn for the 5G era." As the video points out, the Titan features a new design with a sub-screen on the rear panel. The Titan 2 has Android 15 pre-installed and a tactile backlit QWERTY keyboard allowing users to experience the fastest and most intuitive typing yet. The keys on the QWERTY keyboard can be programmed as shortcuts to open apps quickly with the tap of a key. Unlike the original Titan which supported only 4G LTE connectivity, the Titan 2 supports 5G.
The Titan 2 also has what Unihertz calls "Pro Features" such as NFC, Bluetooth, and an Infrared port. The Titan 2 supports multiple languages and with Dual SIM capabilities, a Titan 2 user can have a number for work and one for play. Biometric scanners can unlock the device with a fingerprint or by recognizing the user's face. The rear camera on the Titan 2 is backed with a 50 MP sensor and includes a new telephoto lens that delivers 3.4x optical zoom. On the phone's display, there is a 32 MP front-facing camera for selfies and video chats.
Speaking of the display, the Titan 2 will continue where the Titan left off with a 4.5-inch LCD screen and a 1440 x 1440 resolution. Keeping the lights on all day is a 5050 mAh battery with 33W fast charging. The handset is equipped with 512GB of storage. Unihertz says that the Titan 2 combines both form and function. Unihertz is accepting pre-orders for the Titan 2 from Kickstarter. The Titan 2 has already raised $837,858 which is well above the initial target of $100,000. Thus far, the project has attracted 2,847 backers and there are still 29 days to go. One special deal still on the Kickstarter site offers the Titan 2 priced at $269 or 33% off. vivo X200 FE's India launch teased
vivo has teased the India launch of the X200 FE, which was unveiled a few days ago in Taiwan. vivo hasn't revealed the X200 FE's India launch date and simply says that the smartphone is "coming soon" to the country in its advertisements. However, thanks to our reliable source, we know this compact smartphone will debut in India between July 14 and 19. And it's not just the X200 FE that will debut in India during the week of July 13. The vivo X Fold5, recently launched in China, will also be introduced to the Indian market on the same day as the X200 FE. However, vivo hasn't made any official announcements about the foldable's India debut yet. Circling back to the X200 FE, vivo's Indian branch is advertising it as a smartphone "perfect for one-hand usage" because of its compact form factor. The promo page set up by vivo for the X200 FE on its Indian website suggests the Indian model will have the same specs as its Taiwanese counterpart; however, it will be available in two colors in India instead of four. At least initially. vivo X200 FE's color options The vivo X200 FE comes in black, blue, pink, and yellow colors, but it appears that India will only get the black and yellow options, which is a bummer. Samsung looks at its past to test future feature for Galaxy Z Flip
Samsung has recently filed for a patent on a display interface on the edge of a phone that looks like a future Galaxy Z Flip model. The application for the patent was submitted to the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA). The patent was spotted by 91mobiles and shows a "battery level graphical user interface" on a foldable clamshell flip-style phone. There is a slight curve to the top frame of the flip phone and the interface will remind you of Samsung's curved display phones of the past. The Galaxy Note Edge was launched in 2014 with a curved edge on one side. The illustration included in the patent shows what appears to be an indicator revealing how much battery life remains on the phone. To make it easier for the user to check out the status of the phone's battery, a line made up of a solid color representing the battery percentage remaining on the phone runs up the curved display. At the bottom is the numerical equivalent of the battery percentage remaining. For example, with 90% battery life remaining the illustration in the patent shows a blue line running up the curved display taking up 90% of the complete line. The remaining 10% is in black indicating the percentage of the battery that has been used. The black color will always represent the percentage of the battery consumed while the other color gives you a quick idea about the status of the battery. With 90% battery life remaining, that line is blue indicating that your clamshell flipper has plenty of battery life left. At 50%, the line is in gold, and with 10% battery life remaining that line is in red which is supposed to be like a "red alert" warning. The patent illustration also shows that the bottom of the phone features a USB-C port for charging and data transfers and there are dual speaker grilles. The patent also shows the edge-to-edge cover display and the dual cameras. The device shown in the patent application certainly resembles a Galaxy Z Flip model. Just because Samsung filed this patent application it doesn't mean that we will definitely see a curved display clamshell foldable with a "battery level graphical user interface." If Samsung does decide to go ahead and add this feature to the Galaxy Z Flip, it wouldn't be on this year's model and would probably debut in 2026 at the earliest.
