Actor Rupali Ganguly, popularly known for her role in the TV show Anupamaa, recently commented on reports of Diljit Dosanjh being replaced in Border 2. According to reports, the actor may be dropped from the patriotic drama following backlash over sharing screen space with Pakistani actor Hania Aamir in Sardaar Ji 3. While Diljit stated in an interview that the film was shot when Indo-Pak relations were normal, he continues to face criticism. Now, Rupali has taken to social media to slam Diljit for his 'confused loyalties'.
She wrote in a post on X, 'Border was a film that evoked deep patriotism among the people of our nation. It's truly disheartening and frustrating to see an actor in #Border2 who fails to recognize his responsibilities towards the country. Kudos to the makers for showing clarity and conviction by dropping that actor from the film. A film that celebrates our soldiers and national pride must reflect that spirit in every aspect. No room for confused loyalties in a film about national pride. JAI HIND.'

Amid Sardaar Ji 3 Row, BJP Leader Hobby Dhaliwal Supports Diljit Dosanjh: "Punjab, Punjabi, And Punjabiyat Are With You"
Chandigarh (Punjab): BJP leader and actor Hobby Dhaliwal has come out in support of Punjabi actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh amid the ongoing controversy over his film Sardaar Ji 3, featuring Pakistani actress Hania Aamir. Speaking to ANI, Dhaliwal expressed, "Even before this, many artists from Pakistan have worked in India. We are in favour of Diljit Dosanjh. The stages where the world's biggest artists dream of performing, our Punjabi gabru, with a turban on his head, proclaims 'Punjabi aa gaye oye '. When he goes to the same stage with the tricolour in his hand, then our pride becomes even greater. Punjab, Punjabi, and Punjabiyat are with you, Diljit." The singer-actor has been facing a massive backlash for collaborating with a Pakistani artist, Hania Aamir, in his film Sardaar Ji 3. The timing has added fuel to the ongoing controversy, as tensions between India and Pakistan remain high following the recent Pahalgam terror attack. Sardaar Ji 3 was released in theatres on June 27, 2025, but was not released in India. Meanwhile, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees had sent a letter to the makers of Border 2, urging them to cut all ties with Diljit. "Your involvement risks sending a deeply conflicting message, especially given your influence as a director known for socially resonant therefore, strongly appeal to you to reconsider your collaboration with Diljit Dosanjh and withdraw from associating with any artist who has been officially boycotted by FWICE. Upholding the dignity of our industry and the nation must remain paramount over professional or commercial interests," the letter read. Despite skipping a theatrical release in India due to backlash towards the casting of Pakistani actor Hania Aamir, the film has found success in Pakistan. The horror comedy has reportedly gone housefull in Pakistani cinemas, showcasing Diljit's enduring popularity across borders.

Diljit Dosanjh receives support from BJP amid calls to revoke citizenship over 'Sardar Ji 3'
Diljit Dosanjh faces backlash for his film 'Sardaar Ji 3' featuring Hania Aamir. BJP's RP Singh defends Dosanjh, calling him a national asset. He criticizes calls to revoke Dosanjh's citizenship. Hobby Dhaliwal and Manjit Singh GK also support the singer. They condemn the targeting of Dosanjh. They question the selective criticism against the actor. Tired of too many ads? Remove Ads Tired of too many ads? Remove Ads Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh has gotten support from BJP national spokesperson RP Singh and former DSGMC chief Manjit Singh G amid backlash for his film ' Sardaar Ji 3 ' starring Pakistan actor Hania a post on his X account on Friday R P Singh described Dosanjh as "a national asset and a global ambassador of Indian culture" and slammed the Federation of Western India Cine Employees for demanding action against the celebrity."FWICE's call to revoke his Indian citizenship over an inadvertent and pre-incident film shoot is not only unfair but shockingly disproportionate. The film featuring a Pakistani actress was shot before the Pahalgam attack. If there is anguish, it can be expressed through a boycott or by urging that the film not be screened in India. But attacking Diljit's patriotism and demanding such an extreme step is simply irrational," he wrote."Did FWICE or others object then? TV news channels routinely invite Pakistani guests to boost TRPs. Should those anchors now relinquish their citizenship too? Let's not cheapen nationalism or weaponise patriotism. FWICE should reconsider its stance—such targeting of our own talent only weakens our moral standing," he Punjabi actor and BJP culture cell convener Hobby Dhaliwal extended support to Diljit at a press conference at the party's Chandigarh said that Diljit was not just an artist but a globally respected face of Punjabi culture . "At a time of national tension, attempts are being made to defame him with baseless allegations. This is unfortunate and condemnable," he said."Diljit is the son of this soil. Punjab stands with him—and India too," Dhaliwal expressed regret and disappointment over certain elements demanding the cancellation of the artist's citizenship and a ban on his films."Every citizen is patriotic, but using this as a pretext to target a single artist is wrong. BJP stands firmly with Diljit Dosanjh," he Akali Dal leader and former Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee chief Manjit Singh GK too issued a statement in Diljit's support and questioned "selective targeting" of Diljit.(With TOI inputs)
