
Federation of Labor Unions: Arab Summit in Baghdad to Strengthen Iraq's Economic and Developmental Standing
The Central National Federation of Iraqi Trade Unions affirmed on Thursday that the convening of the Arab Summit in the capital, Baghdad, will bolster Iraq's position in terms of economic and developmental progress.
In a statement, received by The Iraqi News Agency-INA, The Federation noted that: 'The convening of the Arab Summit in Baghdad will enhance Iraq's economic and developmental position, and will reflect the true image of the progress achieved across the security, economic, tourism, cultural, and social sectors in our beloved country.'
According to the statement, The Technical Advisor of the Federation, Qasim Hadi Karim, stated:'Holding the Arab Summit at this particular time marks a significant turning point that will contribute positively across various sectors, most notably the labor market.'
He pointed out that:'The efforts embedded within the government program, along with the support of all national and societal forces, unions, labor federations, and institutions of diverse orientations, are all directed toward ensuring the full success of the 34th Arab Summit in the Republic of Iraq. These efforts underscore the ongoing diligence, urban development, and investment momentum currently witnessed in Iraq.'
He added that: 'The outcomes of the summit will further strengthen Iraq's standing within the institutions of the Arab League, the International Labour Organization, and various Arab organizations across multiple sectors.'

Baghdad – INA The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday reiterated its call for international recognition of the atrocities committed against the Yazidi community as acts of genocide, while urging global cooperation to secure the release of abducted Yazidis. In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the ministry said: On the anniversary of the genocide committed against the Yazidi component and other segments of our dear people at the hands of ISIS terrorist gangs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs solemnly recalls these brutal crimes against innocent civilians and reaffirms its strong condemnation of them.' The ministry expressed its 'deep solidarity with the victims and their families,' stressing 'the importance of international acknowledgment of these violations as acts of genocide, systematic violence, and inhumane enslavement.' It noted that efforts are ongoing to provide sustained support to survivors and their families, and to work toward the recovery of the abducted. The ministry emphasized the need to ensure survivors' full access to their rights under Yazidi Female Survivors Law No. 8 of 2021, through Iraq's embassies and consulates abroad. The statement renewed Iraq's appeal to the international community 'to formally recognize the crimes committed against Yazidis and other communities as genocide,' and underscored 'the necessity of international cooperation to recover the abducted and strengthen joint efforts with governments and international organizations to prevent the recurrence of such atrocities.' The ministry concluded by affirming 'its ongoing commitment to pursuing justice, securing international recognition of the genocide, and advancing the path toward recovery and reparation for those affected by these horrific crimes committed against the people of our beloved country.'

Baghdad – INA President Abdullatif Jamal Rashid on Sunday called for intensified national efforts to fully address the enduring repercussions of the genocide committed against the Yazidi community. In a post on platform X, followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the President stated: On the anniversary of the genocidal crime committed against the Yazidis, we remember the tragedy inflicted by ISIS criminal gangs through acts of murder, enslavement, and abduction—among the most heinous forms of racial and terrorist violence in modern times, aimed at eradicating a deeply rooted and authentic Iraqi component.' He added, 'Eleven years have passed since that painful catastrophe, and this solemn occasion compels us to work diligently to complete the process of redressing its consequences. This includes ensuring the safe return of all displaced persons to their towns and homes, intensifying efforts to uncover the fate of those still missing, and consolidating security and stability in Sinjar and other affected regions across Iraq.'
