Outlander season 8 teased by producers as they give Faith Fraser update

Outlander's producers have shared details about Faith Fraser
The producers of Outlander are teasing the highly anticipated season eight, the final installment of the beloved Starz series.
In a recent chat, showrunner Matthew B. Roberts and executive producer Maril Davis dived into the aftermath of season seven's jaw-dropping twist concerning Faith Fraser, which will continue to unravel in the last season, reports the Scottish Daily Express.

Roberts hinted that there's more to the story of Claire Fraser's (played by Caitríona Balfe) heartbreaking loss and her subsequent healing at the hands of Master Raymond (Dominique Pinon) than initially meets the eye.

He revealed that there was "something mysteriously magical and mystical about that moment that you don't understand", insinuating that season eight will delve deeper into the mysterious circumstances surrounding Faith.
Roberts further piqued fans' curiosity with his enigmatic remark to TV Insider: "I think a lot of these things that happen in Outlander are constructed by destiny..."
"So if there's magic in Faith and there's magic in that story, then we'll see what happens."
His words imply that the final season might feature a greater emphasis on magic and mysticism.

Meanwhile, Davis touched upon the symbolic significance of the colour blue, representing healing, and advised fans to re-watch previous episodes, particularly the season two episode Faith, which might contain subtle clues foreshadowing events in the eighth season.
Interestingly, season seven also incorporated the colour blue, as seen in Claire's shawl when she gets out of bed and opens a window, echoing the imagery of a blue heron in flight from the season two episode Faith. The creators have previously indicated that they intend to steer the show in a direction distinct from the original material.

Author Diana Gabaldon has also hinted at a potential alternate timeline where Master Raymond transports a deceased Faith to a different era, reviving her so she lives on without her parents.
This year marks the ninth anniversary of Outlander's heart-wrenching baby loss storyline from season two.
The narrative, lifted directly from Gabaldon's Dragonfly in Amber, depicted Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire being profoundly altered by the death of their firstborn, Faith.

Fans have been fervently theorising about the plot, speculating whether Fanny Pocock's (Florrie May Wilkinson) mother Faith could be the child of Jamie and Claire.
Furthermore, some fans are suggesting that the forthcoming prequel series, Outlander: Blood of My Blood, might tie into the Faith storyline, with conjecture that Claire's mother Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield) could be somehow linked.

Starz has yet to announce when the eighth season of Outlander will premiere, but with production having concluded, it seems the main filming is complete and it may now just be a matter of editing.
The second part of season seven aired earlier this year, and Blood of My Blood is set to release in August. Consequently, it's likely that the final instalment will hit screens either towards the end of 2025 or in 2026.

ITV Karen Pirie season two ending explained as devastating murder case solved

Karen Pirie has returned to ITV with a second season and a new case to solve After a lengthy three-year hiatus, the much-anticipated return of Karen Pirie has graced our screens with its second series on ITV. Adapted from Val McDermid's acclaimed Inspector Karen Pirie novels, the drama features Outlander star Lauren Lyle as the eponymous protagonist, portraying a bold and spirited Scottish detective "with a quick mouth and a tenacious desire for the truth". ‌ The latest series, entitled A Darker Domain, sees Pirie embroiled in yet another cold case, peeling back layers of deception to unearth the grim realities shrouded in secrecy and a tangled web of potential motives. ‌ The three-part season exposes the 1984 kidnap of a charming heiress to a vast oil fortune, Catriona Grant, and her two-year-old son Adam. They were brutally taken and held at gunpoint outside a fish and chip shop in Fife, with the ransom notes leading to an uncontrollable press storm. ‌ However, as the kidnappers retreated into silence and the police investigation hit a dead end, the fate of Catriona and Adam remained shrouded in enigma, reports the Mirror. The discovery of a corpse connected to the original kidnapping, the first shred of evidence in decades, propels Pirie and her squad into what could be the defining case of their careers, all while under the watchful eye of Catriona's father. ‌ "As Karen delves deeper into what happened in the autumn of 1984, political grudges and painful secrets reveal themselves, and it soon becomes clear... the past is far from dead," hints the tantalising synopsis. Karen Pirie season two ending explained - what happened to Catriona Grant? In a startling revelation, it turns out that Catriona (portrayed by Julia Brown) was complicit in her own abduction. ‌ Motivated by a desire to retaliate against her father Brodie (played by James Cosmo) upon learning that he had exploited Fergus (John Michie) - Adam's covert biological father - to conceal the fatalities caused by his oil operations, Cat and her boyfriend Mick (Mark Rowley) orchestrated a faux kidnapping. Her plan was to abscond with her father's wealth and start afresh with Adam, but this scheme was thrown into chaos when Mick's mates Andy and Kevin got entangled in their plot. Mick, sceptical of Kevin, aimed to keep Cat's involvement in the kidnapping under wraps, leading to a heated debate about whether they should disclose the truth to Kevin. When Kevin eavesdropped on their dispute, he threatened to expose the truth to Brodie, prompting Cat to shoot him in the head, resulting in his death. His body was discovered years later, triggering the commencement of the investigation. ‌ However, his remains weren't the only ones unearthed. Pirie's team stumbled upon Cat's body in a cave, with viewers soon discovering that her mother, Brodie's former wife Mary (Frances Tomelty), was responsible for her death following an emotional confession. Fergus and Brodie had uncovered Cat's role in orchestrating the entire kidnapping, and arranged a meeting with Mick, Andy and Cat to hand over the money. Unbeknownst to them, Mary had trailed them armed with a gun, intending to frighten off the actual kidnappers, oblivious to the fact that her daughter had been aware of the whole situation all along. ‌ Upon reaching the cave, she fired two shots, accidentally killing Cat and triggering a collapse that left her trapped inside. Mick, Andy, and Adam managed to get away, while Brodie and Mary concealed the truth for years, clinging to the hope that Cat had somehow survived. They weren't the only ones to discover the truth however, as Adam, re-named Gabriel after Mick raised him in Italy, learned who he really was and about his biological father and mother. ‌ The case ends with the arrests of Mary and Brodie, and Adam meeting his biological father Fergus, who is also on trial, but choosing to continue living his life with Mick in Malta, as he couldn't be reached by the Scottish authorities there. "There's no joy in closing a case like this, no joy, no celebration," Karen reflects as the series draws to a close. ‌ "Because my job is about finding answers, and I hope those answers bring peace. "But sometimes they aren't the answers that anyone wants to hear, people aren't who you expect them to be, victims don't always fit the ideal narrative. "Money and power can help you re-write history until even you believe it, but [in the end] everyone needs the truth, so I'll keep looking for it."

One pondered, "Have they said whether this is intended to be a mini-series/one-season wonder, or if it's open-ended and might go on for multiple seasons?," as some speculated already that it could be billed for a second series before it's even hit screens.

Karen Pirie season two ending explained as ITV detective drama returns

Karen Pirie has returned with a mysterious new cold case to solve and here's all you need to know about season two After a three-year wait, Karen Pirie has returned to screens with a second season of the ITV detective drama. ‌ The series, which is based on Val McDermid's Inspector Karen Pirie novels, stars Outlander actress Lauren Lyle in the leading role, as a young, fearless Scottish investigator "with a quick mouth and a tenacious desire for the truth". ‌ The second instalment, titled A Darker Domain, follows Pirie taking on another cold case and uncovering the truth behind dark secrets, lies and a web of potential motives. ‌ But, when the culprits turned to silence and the police failed to secure any leads, Catriona and Adam's disappearance remained a mystery. After a man's body is found with links to the original kidnap, in the first piece of evidence from the case in decades, Pirie and her team work on what could be the biggest case of their lives to find the truth behind the kidnap, amid pressure from Catriona's father. 'As Karen delves deeper into what happened in the autumn of 1984, political grudges and painful secrets reveal themselves, and it soon becomes clear… the past is far from dead,' the synopsis teases. ‌ Karen Pirie season two ending explained - what happened to Catriona Grant? In a shocking twist, we discover that Catriona (played by Julia Brown) was involved in her own kidnapping. In a bid to punish her own father Brodie (played by James Cosmo) after discovering he had used Fergus (John Michie) - Adam's secret biological father - to cover up how his oil operations had resulted in deaths, Cat and her boyfriend Mick (Mark Rowley) set up a fake kidnapping. She wanted to start a new life with Adam and run away with her father's money, but her plans were brought into disarray when Mick's friends Andy and Kevin were pulled into the plan. Mick, untrustworthy of Kevin, wanted to hide the fact that Cat was involved in the kidnapping, and debated with her whether they should tell Kevin the truth. ‌ When Kevin overheard their argument, he threatened Cat that he would tell Brodie the truth, so Cat shot him in the head, killing him. His body was the one found decades later, sparking the opening of the investigation. But his remains weren't the only ones found. Pirie's team found Cat's body in a cave, with viewers soon learning that her mother, Brodie's ex-wife Mary (Frances Tomelty), had been the one to kill her after an emotional confession. ‌ Fergus and Brodie had discovered that Cat had plotted the whole kidnapping, and arranged to meet Mick, Andy and Cat and handover the money, but Mary had followed them with a gun, intending to scare away the real kidnappers without realising her daughter had known the entire time. When she reached the cave, she shot twice, mistakenly killing Cat and causing the cave to crumble, leaving her trapped inside. Mick, Andy and Adam escaped, while Brodie and Mary kept the truth a secret for decades, in the hope that Cat had remained alive all along. ‌ They weren't the only ones to discover the truth however, as Adam, re-named Gabriel after Mick raised him in Italy, learned who he really was and about his biological father and mother. The case ends with the arrests of Mary and Brodie, and Adam meeting his biological father Fergus, who is also on trial, but choosing to continue living his life with Mick in Malta, as he couldn't be reached by the Scottish authorities there. ‌ 'There's no joy in closing a case like this, no joy, no celebration,' Karen is heard saying as the show ends. 'Because my job is about finding answers, and I hope those answers bring peace. 'But sometimes they aren't the answers that anyone wants to hear, people aren't who you expect them to be, victims don't always fit the ideal narrative. 'Money and power can help you re-write history until even you believe it, but [in the end] everyone needs the truth, so I'll keep looking for it.'
