Tesla Model Y long wheelbase announced for China with three rows
Just days after making its India debut, Tesla has announced plans to launch the Model Y L, the long-wheelbase variant of the Model Y, in China. The new automaker dropped the teasers for the new Tesla Model Y L on Weibo, one of the most popular social media platforms in China, while details of the upcoming offering were leaked online as the automaker applied for a new sales license with China's Ministry of Information Technology.
Tesla Model Y Long-Wheelbase: Longer & Taller With 3 Rows
The new Tesla Model Y long-wheelbase will be a six-seater version with three rows. Leaked details reveal the Model Y L will be 4.98 metres long, 1.92 metres wide, and 1.67 metres tall. Compared to the standard version, the long-wheelbase model will measure 179 mm longer and 44 mm taller, with no change in the width of the vehicle. Notably, Tesla retails the three-row version of the Model Y in China, albeit as an option with limited legroom. Apart from the longer wheelbase and new seating configuration, the Tesla Model Y L will get a modified rear and a new spoiler.

The Tesla Model Y L is expected to arrive with the dual-motor setup with all-wheel drive. The motor on the front axle produces 190 bhp while the rear-axle motor develops 265 bhp, making for a combined output of 456 bhp. The top speed is restricted at 201 kmph. The full details, including the battery and range, haven't been revealed.
The Tesla Model Y L will arrive later this year in China. This will be the second major update for the Model Y lineup since the heavily updated Model Y Juniper went on sale earlier this year in the market, but failed to liven up the automaker's flagging sales. Globally, the Model Y is Tesla's bestselling offering with over 1.1 million units sold since 2019. In China, Tesla has sold over 171,000 units of the Model Y since the start of this year, while the brand's total sales stood at 263,400 units, ending June 30, witnessing a 5.4 per cent drop year-on-year.

The new long-wheelbase Tesla Model Y is also being seen as the carmaker's response to newer three-row EVs in China. The Model Y L will be produced at Tesla's Gigafactory in Shanghai with LG Energy Solution supplying the batteries. It will be positioned between the Model Y and Model X in the brand's lineup. Tesla Model Y India Launch
Tesla announced its India entry with the launch of the Model Y. The automaker also opened its first experience centre in Mumbai. The Tesla Model Y is priced from ₹ 59.89 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards and arrives in the rear-wheel drive guise. The Full Self-Drive (FSD) option is available at a premium of ₹ 6 lakh but will be rolled out later. The Model Y comes to India as a full import from China.

MG Cyberster electric roadster debuts in India at ₹72.49 lakh for pre-bookers: Features, powertrain and more
MG Motor has officially launched the Cyberster, its electric convertible roadster, in the Indian market. The vehicle is priced at ₹72.49 lakh (ex-showroom) for customers who had placed pre-reservations. For others, the price stands at ₹74.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The Cyberster is the second model to be retailed through MG's premium 'MG Select' dealerships. The model made its Indian debut earlier this year at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, following its international unveil. Brought to India as a Completely Built-Up (CBU) unit, the Cyberster enters a niche segment with no direct rival, though it may be considered alongside high-performance models such as the Tesla Model Y, BMW Z4, Porsche 718 Boxster, Kia EV6, Mini Cooper SE, and Hyundai Ioniq 5. Design and Exterior The Cyberster features a low-slung, two-door convertible body with electric scissor doors. It is based on a dedicated electric vehicle platform and has a wheelbase of 2,690 mm. The aerodynamic design offers a drag coefficient of 0.269 Cd. The model rides on 20-inch staggered alloy wheels, with a sloping rear profile and smooth shoulder lines that give it a streamlined silhouette. The vehicle will be offered in four colour combinations: Nuclear Yellow with a black roof, Flare Red with a black roof, Andes Grey with a red roof, and Modern Beige with a red roof. Performance and Powertrain Powering the Indian-spec Cyberster is a dual-motor setup paired with a 77 kWh battery pack mounted between the axles. This configuration delivers 510 PS and 725 Nm of torque, allowing the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 3.2 seconds. MG claims a range of up to 510 km on a full charge. International markets also receive a rear-wheel-drive version with a 64 kWh battery and a single motor generating 295 bhp. That version, despite having less power, is said to offer a slightly higher range of 519 km. Interior and Features Inside, the Cyberster is equipped with two 7-inch digital displays and a 10.25-inch central infotainment screen. The cabin materials include a mix of suede and vegan leather. Other features include dual-zone climate control, a BOSE audio system, an MP 2.5 air filter, and performance-style seats. The steering wheel is flat-bottomed and includes integrated audio and display controls, while paddle shifters enable adjustment of regenerative braking. A rotary selector is dedicated to launch control. Safety and Engineering Chassis development has been led by former Formula 1 engineer Marco Fainello. The braking system uses Brembo callipers, bringing the car to a stop from 100 kmph in 33 metres. Safety features include Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), a Driver Monitoring System, electronic stability control, multiple airbags, and a reinforced structure designed to resist rollovers. MG states that the Side Stability Factor (SSF) is rated at 1.83. Bookings and Warranty Bookings are currently open online and at MG Select showrooms in 13 Indian cities. The listed price includes a portable 3.3 kW charger, a 7.4 kW wall box charger, and standard installation services. MG is offering a lifetime battery warranty for the first owner, along with a three-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty for the vehicle.

Tesla share price: Elon Musk-led EV firm falls out of trillion-dollar club after weak earnings. Opportunity to buy?
Tesla share price: Slowdown in sales, evolving EV tax policy in the US and Elon Musk's stark prediction of "few rough quarters ahead" did not sit well with Tesla investors. The shares of US-based electric vehicle (EV) firm crashed over 8% in the last session, dragging the company out of the trillion-dollar market cap club. Tesla's share price closed Thursday's session following the announcement of its June quarter results 8.20% lower at $305.30. The stock was trading marginally lower in pre-market trade today, signalling a tepid start for the stock in the US market. Following the sharp selloff yesterday, Tesla's market capitalisation also declined $984.73 billion. The automaker reported one of its most difficult quarters in over a decade, marked by a second consecutive revenue slide. Tesla's revenue declined 12% and profit fell 16% amid rising competition in the key markets such as Europe and China. Moreover, its core EV business deteriorated due to an ageing lineup, with many prospective buyers being turned off by Musk's foray into right-wing politics. Moreover, with no affordable vehicles on the horizon until the last three months of the year and the upcoming elimination of a $7,500 US tax break for EV buyers, Musk acknowledged that the company could have "a few rough quarters." Additionally, the company is looking to transition to a future focused less on selling cars and more on offering people rides in self-driving cars. Musk spent the earnings call talking less about car sales and more about robotaxis, automated driving software and robotics, which he says is the future of the company. According to a Bloomberg report, Wall Street has slashed 2025 profit estimates for Tesla by 28% over the past three months. For the second quarter, analysts are projecting adjusted earnings of 42 cents a share on revenue of $22.6 billion, down 18% and 11%, respectively, from the same period a year ago. That would represent the biggest drop in quarterly sales since 2012. Ross Maxwell, Global Strategy Lead at VT Markets, said weaker demand, the loss of US EV tax incentives and production line changes saw Tesla's revenue fall sharply in Q1 and forcing it to adjust its Q2 earnings per share down to $0.40. "This caused a selloff." Tesla stock has now slumped over 35% from its 2024 highs, dragging its market cap below the $1 trillion mark — which was once a psychological moat for tech-investors, said Harshal Dasani, Business Head at INVasset PMS. He believes that more than the numbers, the bigger challenge is leadership distraction. The EV stock, down 19.5% for the year, is also the worst-performing stock in 2025 among the 'Magnificent Seven'. Ongoing macroeconomic uncertainty, intensifying tariff wars, and evolving US EV regulatory policies continue to cast a shadow over the company's business model, said Prashanth Tapse, Senior VP-Research at Mehta Equities. "These factors have led to sustained negative sentiment around Tesla's near-term performance. Growth pressure has also been exacerbated by geopolitical dynamics, including a perceived strain in the relationship between Elon Musk and former US President Donald Trump," Tapse added. Despite such concerns and stock price crash, Tesla shares remain richly valued at 142 times projected profits, compared with 27 times for the Nasdaq 100 Index, according to Bloomberg. This reflects a significant disconnect from the company's declining financial prospects. Against this backdrop, analysts largely see short-term pressure for Tesla stock. Putting it simply, Dasani said that unless margin pressures and leadership focus stabilise, Tesla may remain a trader's stock, not an investor's conviction buy. Meanwhile, Tapse continues to see more pressure in near term from shrinking deliveries, tariff exposures, and macro downturns as market competition and regulatory hurdles remain key challenges. As per Maxwell, the answer to whether the current downturn in Tesla is an opportunity or concern, depends on the time horizon and risk appetite. He said that Tesla is still a strong global brand and its diversification into robotaxi, robotics, AI, and energy services are strategic opportunity for it to improve earnings in the future. Its access to the growing Indian market could also help give it a boost in the future. "However, this will take time to play out and have an impact on Tesla's earnings, and in the short-term there is still huge competition and much cheaper alternatives available, especially from China, which are impacting Tesla's margins and reducing demand. Political volatility surrounding Elon Musk and Donald Trump's relationship can also put Tesla under pressure in the short term as it loses its EV tax incentives," he added. Anshul Jain, Head of Research at Lakshmishree Investment, Tesla has been trading within a symmetrical triangle for the past 44 days, signaling a phase of consolidation after recent volatility on tech charts. "The stock remains far from a breakout, and a few more sessions of tight range movement are likely before a directional move unfolds. The pivot point for a bullish breakout is placed at 336, and a decisive breach above this level will likely trigger a strong rally. If confirmed, the breakout has the potential to drive the stock towards the 400 zone in the short to medium term," Jain added. Disclaimer: This story is for educational purposes only. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang says AI will create more millionaires in 5 years than the Internet did in 20
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang believes that AI will create more millionaires in five years than the internet did in 20 years. The CEO was part of the recent All In podcast hosted by American venture capitalist Chamath Palihapitiya. He was joined by other luminaries like Chase Lochmiller, and James Latinsky. Huang is steering a trillion-dollar company that is backing the AI revolution. Owing to his company's involvement with AI, the CEO is seemingly aware of the roadmaps followed by major AI companies. In essence, Huang is privy to what Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk, or Sam Altman is building much before any of it is public. Insider intelligence is Huang's major source of influence. In the same talk, Huang also shared his unique perspective on AI and job displacements. The CEO seems unperturbed by claims of AI taking over jobs; however, he is worried that we are not moving fast enough to create jobs. 'AI in my case is creating jobs; it causes people to create things that other people would like to buy. It drives more growth, more jobs, and all that goes together. AI is the greatest technology equaliser of all time,' said Huang. When asked why he thinks AI is a 'great equaliser,' Huang said that everybody is now a programmer. According to him, programmers are required to know languages like C++, Python, etc., but now they just need to talk to AI. Huang believes that the barrier between ideas and execution has collapsed. He feels that every creative is becoming technical and every technical is becoming more creative. 'Everybody is an artist now; everybody is an author now.' He said that one thing is certain: anybody who is not using AI is going to lose their jobs to someone with knowledge of AI. Further into the conversation, Huang predicted that going forward, every company will have two factories—one for their actual product, another for the AI that powers it. He cited the example of Tesla, which has separate setups for building cars and building AI that powers them. Huang said that this will not be limited to tech companies, but every industrial company will become an AI company. When it comes to infrastructure, the CEO said that in Arizona and Texas, his company will produce about half a trillion dollars worth of AI supercomputers in the next four years. And this infrastructure will drive a few trillion in AI industry value. The CEO revealed that 150 AI researchers at DeepSeek or OpenAI can create value worth about $20 to $30 billion. According to Huang, that is about $200 million per person in value creation. The CEO, while lauding small teams with massive impact, said that no industry in history has ever had this kind of leverage.
