
Dubai Chambers organises four workshops to enhance awareness of key laws and regulations among the business community
Interactive workshops covered key legal requirements relating to cybersecurity, the workplace environment, trade digitalisation, and corporate tax.
Dubai, UAE – Dubai Chambers organised four workshops recently aimed at enhancing companies' awareness of business environment regulations and strengthening compliance with legal frameworks governing economic sectors.
The sessions attracted 260 private sector representatives, equipping participants with valuable insights on key topics including cybersecurity, employment and workplace-related legal matters, trade digitalisation, and corporate tax.
The first workshop was organised in collaboration with Al Sahlawi & Co and Morgan, Lewis & Bockius. The session covered strategies for meeting employee expectations, ensuring legal compliance in employment policies, handling workplace grievances, and clarifying the legal obligations of employers and employees.
The second workshop, which was held in partnership with the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC-UAE) and Fichte & Co Legal, focused on trade digitalisation requirements and global trade transformations. The session highlighted the UAE's achievements in reinforcing its position as a leading hub for digital trade. Key topics covered included the role of the ICC Digital Standards Initiative, the Model Law on Electronic Transferable Records, the legal standing of electronic trade documents in the UAE, and best practices in digital identification of trade counterparties.
The third workshop addressed the UAE's evolving cybersecurity landscape. Hosted in collaboration with Kreston ME Consulting and Galadari Advocates and Legal Consultants, the session addressed the security challenges businesses face in digital adoption, compliance requirements for cybersecurity laws, and the key pillars of the Dubai Cybersecurity Strategy.
The fourth workshop was organised in collaboration with Al Tamimi & Company and provided valuable insights on corporate tax in the UAE. The discussion covered areas including tax compliance requirements, the key features of the UAE's tax system, and corporate taxation in free zones.
The interactive workshops came as part of Dubai Chambers' commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment by providing access to vital legal information and promoting best practices in compliance. Dubai, UAE – Dubai Chambers organised a roundtable in Beijing recently with the China Machinery Industry Federation (CMIF), to attract companies specialised in advanced technologies in line with Dubai Economic Agenda (D33). The event was aimed also at strengthening collaboration and supporting the expansion of Chinese industrial companies into Dubai. On the sidelines of the roundtable, Dubai Chambers signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CMIF in the presence of H.E. Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, President and CEO of Dubai Chambers, and Niansha Xu, Chairman of the China Machinery Industry Federation. The MoU seeks to enhance bilateral cooperation, strengthen ties between the business communities in Dubai and China, and establish a framework for exploring joint opportunities across key sectors. H.E. Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, President and CEO of Dubai Chambers, commented: 'We are committed to strengthening the economic ties between Dubai and China and advancing bilateral cooperation in priority areas, particularly the industrial sector. Discussions focused on increasing bilateral trade and investment in these areas and exploring how Dubai's specialised exhibitions can serve as a platform for Chinese manufacturers to expand regionally and globally. Participants also reviewed Dubai's growing focus on future-facing sectors, including artificial intelligence and robotics. Dubai, UAE – Dubai Chamber of Commerce, one of the three chambers operating under the umbrella of Dubai Chambers, has successfully organised a workshop in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Trade to explore the role of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreements (CEPAs) signed by the UAE in driving the growth of the local services export sector. The session was attended by representatives of Business Groups operating under the chamber that specialise in the service industries. The workshop focused on how CEPAs are creating promising commercial and investment opportunities for the private sector, expanding the global reach of the local services industry, and increasing the potential for the export of services. Participants learned more about how various sectors can benefit from CEPAs and how these agreements support the growth and international expansion of local companies engaged in the delivery of services. This includes business services; communications; engineering and construction; distribution; environmental services; education; financial and insurance services; healthcare and social services; and travel and tourism; as well as recreational, cultural, sports, and transport services. The session also explored the provisions of the agreements and their role in strengthening the UAE's position as a key gateway for the export of goods and services. The workshop highlighted the advantages of CEPAs, including improved access to international markets, reduction or elimination of customs duties, streamlined customs procedures, and the establishment of clear and transparent regulations.
