Hyderabad: The Telangana fire disaster response, emergency and civil defence department on Monday launched operations at a new Fire Command and Control Centre, aiming to revolutionise fire management, enhance public safety, and expedite building plan approvals across the state.
As part of the initiative, an AI-powered software system named the 'Auto Drawing Scrutiny System' was also unveiled, claimed to be the first-of-its-kind in India's firefighting domain. The state-of-the-art control centre features a sophisticated video wall system, intelligent video wall controllers, and a computer-aided dispatch system. Designed for real-time emergency monitoring and response, it enables seamless integration of multiple data sources, improving situational awareness for emergency personnel.
It has been integrated with the Telangana Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) of the police, enabling real-time data sharing and coordinated multi-agency responses. The system facilitates collaboration between departments such as the police, GHMC, electricity board, and HMWS&SB, helping to minimise communication delays, support better decision-making, and ensure quicker and more effective emergency responses.
Meanwhile, the department introduced the AI-powered Auto Drawing Scrutiny System, aimed at automating the review of fire safety diagrams submitted during building approval processes. Developed in collaboration with IT&EC, TGTS, and CGG departments, the software performs both value-based and positional checks, ensuring fire safety drawings meet regulatory standards with consistency and precision.

Valve installation completed for 24x7 water supply pilot project in Trichy

Trichy: Trichy Corporation has completed the installation of major valves as part of its 24x7 drinking water distribution pilot project. These valves will help ensure uniform water pressure and equitable supply to around 14,819 domestic and commercial connections in the selected wards. Under the District Metering Area (DMA) system, already implemented, water connections have been divided into zones to facilitate continuous supply. This zonal classification is designed to eliminate disparities, such as low pressure in high-elevation areas, that are common under the conventional supply system, which typically provides water for only 3–4 hours a day. The pilot project aims to deliver round-the-clock access to drinking water, regardless of location. It also introduces a shift from slab-based billing to consumption-based charges, encouraging more responsible water usage. "Reducing non-revenue water loss and promoting judicious usage are key objectives of the project. A test run may be conducted soon, as most of the pipeline and valve work is complete," said an official source. The estimated daily water requirement for the pilot is 19.5 million litres (MLD). Water flow and usage will be monitored through the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system at the Integrated Command Control Centre (ICCC) in the Corporation's main office.

Vaishno Devi shrine gets new AI-powered surveillance system with facial recognition, crowd management tools

Inaugurating a CCTV surveillance system with an integrated command and control centre for the Vaishno Devi shrine, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said the 'cutting-edge technology' would ensure a hassle-free pilgrimage, with real-time monitoring and crowd management. According to a statement, the system features AI-based analytics and features like gesture recognition, automatic number plate recognition (ANPR), facial recognition, an intrusion detection system, and crowd management tools. An integrated command and control centre (ICCC) located at Katra and seven sub-control centres along the pilgrimage route have been established for localised monitoring and coordination, ensuring 24×7 monitoring of all vulnerable and high-traffic zones and enabling prompt response to crowd build-up, security breaches and medical emergencies. Over 700 cameras have been deployed across the shrine area, including 170 new high-definition cameras and integration of more than 500 existing cameras, covering all critical and vulnerable locations, the statement said. Sinha said the AI-powered system would significantly enhance safety and security, and improve crowd control measures and operational efficiency within the shrine area. Anshul Garg, the CEO of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, gave a detailed presentation on the ICCC's technical features and expected benefits in day-to-day shrine functioning. He said the centre is equipped to generate automated alerts for crowd congestion, route blockages, landslides or other emergencies, thereby enabling swift decision-making and response. The Lieutenant Governor interacted with the engineers and operational staff at the centre, and emphasised the need for the regular training of staff and seamless collaboration with security agencies and other stakeholders to maximise the centre's utility. The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board recently provided security equipment to security agencies deployed for yatra management, including X-ray baggage scanners, door frame metal detectors, hand-held metal detectors, and under-vehicle search mirrors/scanners, to enhance security at the shrine area, in pursuance to the joint security review conducted last year on the directions of the Lieutenant Governor. Ashok Bhan, a member of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board; Bhim Sen Tuti, the IGP of Jammu; Nidhi Malik, the Deputy Commissioner of Reasi; and other senior police officers and security personnel were present on the occasion.

Himachal CM inaugurates integrated command centre in Dharamshala

Chief minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu on Wednesday virtually inaugurated an integrated command, control and crime response centre (ICCC) located at the superintendent of police (SP) office in Dharamshala under the Smart City Mission. Under this project, 229 CCTV cameras have been installed at prominent places in the city, out of which seven sites have been installed under the Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS). This system will be helpful in better implementation of traffic management, surveillance, public safety and law and order, officials said. This state-of-the-art centre has been established at a cost of ₹2.72 crore. 'This centre is an important step towards strengthening urban governance and other civic services in the city. This centre will act as a central system for monitoring, coordination and rapid response management, ensuring public service delivery and urban security. It is planned that in the near future, all the cameras installed in Kangra will be monitored at one focal point through this server,' police officials said.
