The Double Filet-O-Fish has arrived — but McDonald's fans have one issue with it
It's finally the moment Filet-O-Fish fans have been waiting for… the Double Filet-O-Fish has arrived! McDonald's in the UK has launched a brand new twist on the iconic burger for the very first time in its 50 year history. The new item, which costs £5.29, features not one but two pollock fish patties in crispy breadcrumbs, melted cheese and tartare sauce inside a steamed bun. Brits raced to get their hands on it after it dropped at 11am on July 1, with those who tried it hailing it as 'perfect', 'truly amazing', 'the best' and 'worth the wait'. However, some who tried ordering it via the McDonald's app and as well as other apps like Deliveroo, have pointed out one issue with the new product. Currently, you can't customise your Double Filet-O-Fish order via apps to add anything extra – you can only take away existing ingredients completely. So, you can remove the cheese or the tartare sauce from the burger, but you can't substitute these for anything else, like swapping tartatre sauce for ketchup. Instead, your only option when ordering this way would be to add a ketchup dip to your order for an additional 20p. This was an issue Chris Cuthill experienced, as he shared: 'No Tartare sauce for me, but no option to add tomato sauce!' But this only seems to be the case when ordering via the app or on the screens in restaurants. Those who pyhsically went up to a cashier were able to make changes to their order in person. Alexis Victoria proved this in The Filet-O-Fish Facebook Society of 2012 group when she posted a snap of her Double with extra pickles. You should also expect the unexpected when it comes to the 'placement' of your Double Filet-O-Fish. Hilarious snaps of wonky burgers have been shared all over social media, and according to Will Davenport, 'most shops are making it wrong'. He claims the slice of cheese should be sandwiched in between the two patties and it should be a full slice of cheese – unlike in the regular Filet-O-Fish where customers only get half a slice. However, some people have received burgers with cheese on the bottom of the two patties and some have only been given half a slice of cheese. According to food reviewer, Bald Food Guy, if you're served a Double Filet-O-Fish with cheese on the bottom, it's a 'waste of time'. In his YouTube review, he claimed that the cheese was 'lost' at the bottom of the burger and he couldn't taste it. He urged the fast food chain to add more cheese. And @emilyjade felt similarly about her Double Filet, claiming without cheese in the middle, the whole thing was quite 'dry'. And while more cheese never goes amiss, these niggles don't seem to have put the vast majority of people off, with many absolutely obsessed with the new product. On TikTok, a user known as @sarahxgriffiths went as far as to brand the new burger 'orgasmic', while @elieeewbu claimed 'life couldn't get any better' after trying it, adding it had 'answered all her prayers'. If those reviews don't make you want to grab your car keys and head out to Maccies, I don't know what will… This comes as McDonald's unveiled its new Happy Meal collab for July and a fan-favourite is returning. After two years, Squishmallows are back in the iconic red boxes from July 2, with 15 cute little plushies to collect from the fast food chain. More Trending The rarest toy you can get is Halley – a never-before-seen Intergalactic Axolotl that's exclusively available in McDonald's meals. Other toys available include a pickle named Charles, a cactus known as Maritza, a cat called Cam, Babs the penguin and Junie the banana. Each Squishmallow toy has its own backstory and 'personality' according to the brand and they have proved incredibly popular in McDonald's branches around the world. The new Squishmallows, including Halley, launched in the US in May, and customers went wild over the toys. They've also recently been available in New Zealand and Australia where they caused a stir too. Do you have a story to share? The Vivienne found in bathtub by neighbour after lying dead in water for a ‘couple of days', inquest told
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) THE Vivienne was found in a bathtub by a neighbour after lying dead in the water for a "couple of days", an inquest heard today. James Lee Williams, who won the first series of RuPaul's Drag Race UK, was discovered at home near Chester on January 5. Cheshire Coroner's Court heard today that a neighbour had found Williams in the bath after friends were unable to get in touch with them. Janine Gobold said she had last spoken with Williams two days before their death when they arranged a shopping trip. She told the inquest she then received a call from the star's friend on January 5 asking if she had heard from them. Janine said she would use her key to check on Williams and immediately noticed there were no footprints in the snow that showed they had been outside. She added: "I went into the kitchen and Ryan [her son] went into the living room, we were calling his name and there was no answer. All the lights were on. 'As we got to the top of the stairs, Ryan went one way and I turned right. James' bedroom is there and there is a door to the ensuite. "I looked at James' bed which was all ruffled, I initially thought Panda [Williams' dog] had ragged the quilt on the bed. 'And then I walked past James' bed and into the bathroom and saw James in the bath, he just looked like he was sleeping." Janine said she rushed over to stop their face going in the water then screamed at her son to call an ambulance. Dancing on Ice's Holly Willoughby pays touching tribute to The Vivienne following tragic death as new series begins Describing the scene at Williams' home, she said there was a Deliveroo bag in the kitchen but told the court she saw no evidence of drug taking. A paramedic who was called to the home said rigor mortis had already set in and it was evident Williams had been in the water for a "couple of days". Cheshire Police previously confirmed Williams' death was not being treated as suspicious. The inquest was told the star had a "significant history of substance misuse, including the use of ketamine, cocaine and alcohol." Williams' best friend Bobby Musker said in the days leading up to the tragedy, the pair had been sending memes, videos and voicenotes to each other. Bobby said Williams had been to Liverpool a couple of times, which he believes was to pick up ketamine. He last spoke to the drag queen on January 3 at 8.22pm in a video call. Bobby, who knew Williams for around 16 years, added: "I could kind of tell when he was on [ketamine], so I could tell he had taken some." The witnesses told how he received a call the following day from Williams' manager asking if anyone had heard from the star. After telling Janine to let herself into Williams' home, he then got a call from her screaming: "He's in the bath, he's in the bath." Bobby immediately drove to the home and spoke to paramedics, who asked what Williams' drug of choice was. He added: "Him taking drugs didn't define him as a person. He did so much for the good. "I don't want the public to see him just as what has happened, with drug use, that wasn't the person that defined him. There was a lot more to him." The tragedy was announced by publicist Simon Jones, who paid tribute to the "incredibly loved, warm-hearted and amazing person". 7 Police confirmed they were not treating the star's death as suspicious Credit: Getty 7 The Vivienne finished third place on Dancing on Ice Sister Chanel Williams previously said Williams had "a really long period of sobriety" before relapsing, which the family only discovered after Williams' death. She said they will be working with the substance abuse charity Adferiad to raise awareness. Williams had spoken about their drug addiction on RuPaul's Drag Race UK. They said: "It was party, drugs, but I couldn't leave the drugs at the party, it was constant for me." He added that Williams would be remembered for their "immense talent" and "the light they brought to every room was astonishing". Williams won the first season of RuPaul's Drag Race UK, which aired in 2019. They went on to compete in an all-winners season of the franchise in the US in 2022 - the only Brit to do so. Williams also starred on BBC Three show The Vivienne Takes On Hollywood in 2020 and appeared on Channel 4's Celebrity Hunted For Stand Up To Cancer in 2022. In 2023, Williams came third place on Dancing on Ice - with judge Oti Mabuse leading tributes to the "phenomenal entertainer" and "trailblazer". Presenter Holly Willoughby also shared her heartache at the start of last month's new series. She said: "Before we move on, like us, many of you will have been saddened by the tragic news of The Vivienne's passing last weekend. "Now they were a huge part of our show, making it all the way to the final in 2023. "They'll be very sorely missed and our thoughts are with The Vivienne's loved ones at this time. So sad." RuPaul's Drag Race judge Michelle Visage also paid tribute to Williams, writing that their death was "heartbreaking". Williams was born in Wales but moved to Liverpool as a teenager to launch a career as a make up artist. They met husband David Ludford after moving to Gran Canaria in 2017. The couple announced their separation in April 2023. The inquest continues. 7 They also appeared on Celebrity Hunted, Emmerdale and Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway Credit: PA

M&S's viral Dubai-style pistachio chocolate bar is bound to sell out – but how does it taste?
Unless you've taken a digital detox of monumental proportions, you'll have heard about the chocolate sensation taking over social media. 'Dubai chocolate' as it's become known, has racked up more than 120 million views on TikTok, sparked a global craving for pistachio cream, and even contributed to international nut shortages. Yes, really. The original Dubai chocolate bar was made by luxury confectionery brand, Fix Dessert Chocolatier, in the UAE. The now treat is a nod to the traditional Knafeh dessert, which is made with spun pastry dough, layered with cheese, soaked in a sweet, sugar-based syrup and finished with a sprinkling of pistachio. The chocolate bars feature a filling of pistachio cream, crispy Kadayif (a fine vermicelli pastry), and a hint of tahini. Think Ferrero Rocher meets baklava, but richer, and infinitely more difficult to track down. Fix Dessert Chocolatier's creations aren't available outside Dubai, but that hasn't stopped brands from attempting to cash in on the viral momentum. First it was Lidl, whose affordable sold out within days. And now Marks & Spencer has joined the pistachio party. Its bar, which launched to fanfare in April, immediately flew off the shelves. It is now back. But does M&S's version live up to the viral hype? And is it worth its £8.50 price tag? I found out. How I tested It will come as no surprise that the testing process for this review involved me eating a lot of chocolate – a particularly hard day in the office for me. For context, I have tried a number of Dubai-style chocolate bars in the past, including Lidl's now sold-out special. So I knew what I was looking for: a good bar is thick and indulgent with high-quality milk chocolate shell, generous lashing of pistachio cream and a satisfying crunch. This is more expensive than your average chocolate bar, so I considered if it really is worth the price – assessing the size, quality of ingredients and if it tastes as luxurious as the price tag suggests.
