King, Queen Attend 2025 Warriors' Day Celebration
The celebration, coordinated by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), carried the concept of a static parade featuring detachments from the PDRM, Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF), Veterans Association of Malaysian Armed Forces (PVATM) and the Ex-Policemen Association of Malaysia (PBPM).
The ceremony began with the playing of the national anthem, Negaraku, accompanied by the firing of a 21-gun salute by Major Hafizan Mat Ghani of the 41st Battery of the Royal Artillery Regiment (Ceremonial).
His Majesty then inspected the main guard of honour.
A total of 18 officers and 685 personnel from the PDRM and MAF participated in the parade, led by Superintendent Mohamad Ridzuan Roslan of the PDRM.
Also present were Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin and Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.
Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail and Chief of Defence Force General Tan Sri Mohd Nizam Jaffar were also in attendance.
The ceremony proceeded with the sounding of the 'Last Post', as the Jalur Gemilang was lowered.
This was followed by the recital of the poem 'Darah Yang Terpercik di Baju' by Detective Sergeant Ardiansyah Wayang of the PDRM and Staff Sergeant Siti Nur Aini Jasni of the MAF.

King's historic state visit to Russia underscores deepening bilateral ties, says Ambassador
MOSCOW: The state visit by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, the King of Malaysia, to Russia from Aug 5-10 has been described as the highlight of the diplomatic ties between the two countries, said Malaysia's Ambassador to Russia Datuk Cheong Loon Lai. He said the visit is the highest-level ever made and the first by a Malaysian head of state to Russia since diplomatic relations were established in April 1967. "His Majesty's state visit, at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir V. Putin, is a recognition of the five decades of diplomatic ties with Malaysia, which was among the earliest Asean countries to establish ties with the then Soviet Union. "This visit also reflects the crucial role of the institution of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong in the context of international relations,' he told Bernama here on Sunday (Aug 1) in conjunction with Sultan Ibrahim's state visit. Cheong said the visit will begin in Moscow, where His Majesty is scheduled to hold an official meeting with Putin at the Grand Kremlin Palace. Both leaders are expected to discuss potential cooperation in the fields of trade and investment, higher education, technology and innovation, people-to-people ties, digital transformation, agriculture and food security, as well as regional and international issues. "This highest-level visit will certainly have a high impact in increasing the momentum and positive trend of bilateral relations between Malaysia and Russia. "It sends the message that Malaysia is serious and committed to efforts to strengthen and improve bilateral relations with Russia in all fields, particularly strategic cooperation and people-to-people ties,' he said. Sultan Ibrahim is scheduled to arrive in Moscow on Tuesday (Aug 5) and will be accorded a state welcome ceremony at the Kremlin on Wednesday (Aug 6), before holding an official meeting with Putin and attending a state banquet hosted by the Russian President. His Majesty is also scheduled to receive an audience from the Russian Automotive Technology Development Company as well as the Tochka Kipeniya Technology and Innovation Hub. On Friday (Aug 8), Sultan Ibrahim will travel to Kazan, the fifth largest city in Russia, to receive an audience from the Rais (Head) of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, at the Kazan Kremlin. Both parties are expected to discuss potential collaboration in the trade, investment, halal industry sectors and agricultural technology. His Majesty is also scheduled to attend a reception ceremony hosted by Minnikhanov and visit the Kazan Helicopter Plant to observe the manufacturing operations of civilian, defence and rescue helicopters. Russia is currently Malaysia's ninth-largest trading partner among European countries and 28th globally, with bilateral trade valued at RM11.46bil (US$2.48bil) in 2024. Port Dickson school apologises for upside down Jalur Gemilang

(Facebook pic) SEREMBAN : SJKC Chung Hua in Port Dickson has apologised for mistakenly flying the Jalur Gemilang flag upside down at the school last Friday. The school, in a joint statement with the school board and parents-teachers association (PIBG), expressed regret for the incident, attributing it to staff oversight, Bernama reported. 'The incident occurred on the afternoon of Aug 1, when a school employee was installing national flags before the end of the workday. 'Due to carelessness, one of the flags was hoisted upside down,' it was quoted as saying in a statement posted on the school's Facebook page. The school said it was alerted about the error at around 5pm and immediately rectified it, acknowledging public concern following the circulation of photos of the flag on social media. SJKC Chung Hua said it remains committed to respecting national symbols and will improve internal oversight to avoid future incidents. Meanwhile, education minister Fadhlina Sedek said that stern action will be taken against the school after a full investigation is completed and the report is submitted to the ministry, BuletinTV3 reported. 'We are currently awaiting the full investigation, and I want to emphasise that once we receive the report, action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation. Fadhlina said that her ministry has repeatedly reminded all parties about this issue, and the same problem should not have happened again. 'I constantly stress the importance of sensitivity, responsibility, and commitment when it comes to the Jalur Gemilang, especially as we approach National Day. Education Ministry to take stern action over upside-down Jalur Gemilang incident in PD school
KOTA BARU: The Education Ministry will take firm action once it receives the full investigation report on the incident where the Jalur Gemilang flag was flown upside down at a vernacular school in Port Dickson, Negri Sembilan, on Friday (Aug 1). Its Minister Fadhlina Sidek said the incident was a serious issue, as all parties had been repeatedly reminded of the importance and sensitivity of the national flag. "We are currently awaiting the result of the full investigation. I want to stress that once we receive the complete report, we will take stern action. "The Education Ministry has repeatedly reminded everyone about the sensitivity, responsibility, and commitment involved in displaying the Jalur Gemilang. "Incidents like this should not have happened," she told reporters after presenting the Early Schooling Aid (BAP) to Form Six Semester One students for the 2025 session in Kelantan at the Educational Technology Resource Sector in Pengkalan Chepa, here on Sunday (Aug 3) She said her ministry is taking a very strict stance on any offence involving the improper display of the Jalur Gemilang, adding that the government do not want the spirit of the National Day celebration to be marred by such incidents. Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) Chung Hua in Port Dickson on Sunday issued a public apology over the upside-down display of the Jalur Gemilang at its premises on Friday. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today said the investigation into the death of Zara Qairina must be conducted thoroughly and transparently. The Prime Minister was reported as saying that he had discussed the matter with Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail and Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail to ensure a swift and thorough investigation. Zara Qairina, 13, was believed to have fallen from the third floor and was found unconscious in a drain near her school dormitory in Papar, Sabah, at 4am on July 16. She was pronounced dead at Queen Elizabeth I Hospital here on July 17. The student's death quickly went viral, sparking widespread public reaction on social media.
