Mother, boyfriend arrested over alleged rape and planned assault of 13-year-old daughter

Mother accused of conspiring in daughter's rape case This disturbing case serves as a reminder of the critical need for child protection and vigilance against abuse, even within the confines of a home. SHAH ALAM – Police have arrested a 36-year-old mother and her 61-year-old boyfriend to facilitate investigations into both a planned rape at a Kuala Lumpur hotel and a prior alleged rape of her 13-year-old daughter in 2024. According to media reports, the victim discovered text messages between her mother and the suspect. Police are investigating the horrific alleged abuse of a 13-year-old girl, with two suspects, including her mother, remanded for questioning in a case that has shocked the community. - Photo courtesy of PDRM In these messages, the man explicitly stated his intention to have sexual intercourse with the girl. The mother allegedly consented to the act and arranged a meeting at an unspecified hotel in Kuala Lumpur. Upon realising the danger, the teenager fled to a friend's home before filing a report at Pandan Indah police station on June 25. Ampang Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azam Ismail confirmed that both suspects were arrested on the same day. The woman, a security guard and her boyfriend, a local trader, were detained by the Ampang Jaya Criminal Investigation Department (CID) personnel. Investigators cited damning text messages proving the mother's active involvement in planning the assault. 'The correspondence unequivocally shows the boyfriend's intent to rape the victim, with the mother's full approval. 'Further investigations revealed the girl had previously been raped by the same man in 2024, an assault that her mother allegedly witnessed," he said in a statement today. Federal Police Sexual, Women and Child Investigation Division's (D11) principal assistant director Senior Assistant Commissioner Siti Kamsiah Hassan revealed the victim had been previously assaulted at age 12. The girl awoke during the mid-2024 incident to find the suspect raping her, as her mother observed. Initial investigations found that both suspects tested negative for drugs and had no prior criminal records. The court approved a seven-day remand until July 4 for further interrogations. The case is being investigated under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code for rape, which carries a maximum penalty of 20 years' imprisonment and caning. Authorities have recorded statements from five individuals, including the two suspects. The victim is scheduled to give her formal testimony at the Child Interview Centre (CIC) on July 1. The arrests took place at 6.30pm last week. More Like This

Parents alarmed as TikTok trend distracts teens, drains pocket money

GEORGE TOWN: Young people are becoming increasingly fixated on the TikTok trend known as "Player Knockout Battle" or "PK Battle", to the point that some are missing school and using their money to buy digital gifts. According to Kosmo!, PK Battle is a live competition between two social media users who compete to earn digital gifts from viewers. Losers are often subjected to various punishments, such as having flour thrown on their faces, being drenched with water, or being made to run outside late at night. Marketing officer Aina Azli, 45, said her 16-year-old daughter's behaviour had changed drastically after getting hooked on the trend, which is commonly livestreamed at all hours of the day. "She no longer focuses on her studies. She spends her time glued to her phone, laughing out loud and pointing at the screen, sometimes staying up until early morning and even skipping school just to watch it," she said. Another parent, known only as Rohaida, 46, said her 13-year-old son had been using his daily RM10 pocket money to buy digital gifts for PK Battle participants. "These gifts can cost as little as 35 sen or up to RM4. He has spent as much as RM50 a week on them," she said. Father of four Hakim Ismail, 42, urged the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to block the trend, warning of its potential impact on children's mental health. "We also urge the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) to investigate platforms that can negatively influence users' emotions and behaviour," he said. Previously, Pertubuhan Damai Revolusi Masyarakat president L. Francis said the MCMC and PDRM should take action, describing PK Battle as a harmful form of online gambling that wastes time and could trigger social issues, including extortion, bullying, and sexual exploitation.
