Amazon Prime adds five seasons of 'the best show on TV' that had viewers glued to the screen

Daily Mirror24-04-2025

It is now easily accessible to a new group of fans
Amazon Prime has just dropped several episodes of a 'gripping' action series from the pen of the writer behind smash hits like Justified and Homeland.
Seal Team, which first hit screens in 2017 and ran for seven seasons, was initially an exclusive title for the Paramount+ streaming platform after it moved from its network home on CBS. However, it has since been made available on other platforms, including Amazon Prime, which has just added the first five seasons to its catalogue.

This means that not all seasons are available on the retail behemoth's streaming service, but UK viewers can find the sixth and seventh instalments on NOW. This makes it easier than ever for fans to binge-watch the highly praised show.
The show centres around an elite unit of Navy SEALs as they plan and execute some of the most perilous high-stakes missions at a moment's notice. However, the pressure of these assignments takes a toll on them and their families back home.
Seal Team is the brainchild of writer Benjamin Cavell, who has previously penned episodes for hit shows such as Justified and Homeland. He also worked on the television adaptation of Stephen King's post-apocalyptic epic The Stand and is set to bring the author's book The Institute to the small screen in the near future, reports Surrey Live.

The series boasted a writers room peppered with former Navy SEALs such as Mark Semos and Kenny Sheard, reportedly comprising 70% veterans who brought their experiences to the table for crafting authentic storylines. With over 100 episodes under its belt, the show has clinched an impressive 71% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Despite ending earlier than anticipated and scrapping a potential feature film, the drama continues to enjoy staunch fan support. In a review of its inaugural season, one critic foresaw the show's success, asserting: "SEAL Team is built for success and will probably find it. But like the members of the SEAL Team, it's better on the battlefield than on the home front."

One avid viewer enthused online that the show is "riveting and unbelievably entertaining!" Another fond themselves hooked, praising both script and cast rapport: "I have been glued to the screen for each and every season. The script is fantastic and the actors have amazing chemistry."
A fan hailed it as "absolutely the BEST show on TV. From the writers to the producers, directors, stage hands, cameramen, stuntmen and the FANTASTIC actors."

Another singled out its realism, stating: "This is one of the most authentic shows on television. It is super how the audience is let in on the actual preplanning of the Seal's next mission."
One viewer shared their initial scepticism turned enthusiasm, saying: "What a sleeper of a show. Oh my God, let me tell you, at first it was a slow burn....how wrong could I have been. After three episodes I was hooked, the show really touches on a lot of accurate and actual real live topics. Not just in a battle field way but also what our soldiers go through, their families, and loved ones."
They added: "The development of the show makes the characters kind of related, you can feel what they going through. The show is not perfect, but real nice for a chance. I recommend it, give it a chance of you have not ready taken a look."

George Ezra hails Scottish folk group Kinnaris Q

Describing them as 'some of the musicians I admire most', Ezra has invited them to play in his Hertford hometown this week, as well as use his state-of-the-art studio free of charge to record new music. The multi-platinum-selling artist first met Kinnaris Q when they were invited to play on a documentary about his walk from Land's End to John O'Groats for Amazon Prime – an invitation that band member Aileen Reid initially thought was a wind-up. It turned out to be genuine, and Kinnaris Q are the only Scottish band whose music was kept on the End To End documentary, produced by Catherine Miller who also produced the hit Freddie Flintoff documentary. READ MORE: One-woman play will explore consequences of explosion in extreme sex acts on OnlyFans Ezra said later: 'From the very start, their energy was infectious and, combined with the sheer brilliance of their music, made it one of my all-time favourite musical encounters.' Kinnaris Q were filmed playing outside in Glencoe, not long after the Covid lockdowns. 'The whole day was magic,' said Reid. 'It was funny because I was wearing a white dress and George was in his walking boots, shorts and T-shirt so some of the people who walked past didn't know who he was and thought we had just got married. 'The band is in the documentary for a brief five minutes or so but we spent a full day together blethering about lots of things, particularly about an instantaneous change as soon as they arrived all by foot into Scotland – people were so friendly and good craic. 'Needless to say they absolutely loved Scotland and that strangely made my heart sing. 'We spoke about how living away from our hometowns for years made us realise how much we loved where we came from – Glasgow, for me and Hertford, for George.' Reid said the love of their hometown had led Ezra and his sister Jess to celebrate their roots through the creation of a free magazine to nurture the community spirit in Hertford. 'Through this, they're bringing us down to perform in a local venue,' Reid said. This week's gig sold out quickly with tickets priced on a 'pay as you feel' basis. 'George's priorities are to put on good music in Hertford and enable people to experience a gig who otherwise might not be able to afford it,' Reid explained. Both the gig and the free studio time are a welcome boost for Kinnaris Q, with Reid pointing out that the pandemic and cost of living crisis have hit the music industry badly. Ticket prices are now so high for big concerts that fewer people are turning up for regular gigs from less well-known musicians. 'Live gigs are almost dead for people, it's awful,' said Reid. 'There's a big chunk of young people who didn't have that natural experience of going to festivals and gigs because of the pandemic. 'All of that stopped for several years so that culture has been skipped for that generation yet it is so important for anyone within the music industry. 'I don't just mean musicians and bands, I mean engineers and the cleaners who clean the venue. 'Everybody is on what feels like a bit of a sinking ship because that was our main income.' Streaming has also wiped out music sales, but if musicians don't stream then they automatically cut themselves off from a huge audience. 'We are blessed to have a talent but that is not the sole reason we make music,' said Reid. 'We have children, we have homes and bills to pay. It is not just a hobby for us.' With studio costs also extremely high now, the invitation to record at Ezra's has been welcomed by the band, who also see it as a chance to work with new people and bring their music to a new audience. (Image: Rockstarimages) 'It's totally magical and brought us a bit of faith in humanity,' said Reid. 'George and his sister Jess have been absolute diamonds and such generous supporters of our music and more. 'Since day one, we've run the entire KQ operation ourselves – no agent, no label, no management – so to be offered this opportunity purely out of respect for our craft and musicianship has been mega. What a boost!' Originally called Kinnaris Quintet, the name is being shortened to Kinnaris Q in order to allow more flexibility in the line-up. 'It opens us up to work with guests rather than keeping it to a quintet all the time,' Reid explained. Although the gig in Hertford on Wednesday is sold out, the band can be seen in Edinburgh at the preview night for the Edinburgh International Festival on July 30.

ITV showing 'best ever' James Bond film starring Daniel Craig tonight

Daniel Craig stars as James Bond in the 2006 film Casino Royale which ITV will be showing tonight from 8pm Deciding on the next film or TV show to watch can often be a daunting and time-consuming task. In this digital age, countless hours are wasted scrolling through Netflix and Amazon Prime, given the overwhelming array of choices. Considering this, coupled with the escalating subscription costs, many opt to abandon these platforms and return to traditional terrestrial TV. ‌ Despite Netflix's reputation for showcasing major blockbusters, it's ITV that will be broadcasting one of the finest films of recent decades - and it's absolutely free to view. ‌ There's arguably no spy film series that surpasses James Bond in terms of action, charisma, and quintessential British humour. The franchise has become emblematic of British identity. Regardless of whether your preferred 007 is Sean Connery, Roger Moore or Pierce Brosnan, every fan was captivated by Daniel Craig's arrival as the films took on a more realistic, gritty, and darker tone compared to their light-hearted (and occasionally exaggerated) predecessors, reports the Express. Bond enthusiasts are in for another treat as his iconic debut, Casino Royale, widely regarded as one of the best Bond films ever made, will be available to watch on ITV tonight, free of charge. Scheduled to air from 8pm until 10.40pm, the film, based on Ian Fleming's inaugural Bond book, follows a newly-licensed 007 tasked with bankrupting a terrorist financier known as Le Chiffre during a high-stakes poker game at Casino Royale. The ensuing narrative is a thrilling, action-filled plot culminating in a spectacular finale set in Venice and the Italian lakes. ‌ The film was a resounding success, earning an impressive 94% on Rotten Tomatoes and ranking fourth in the franchise, the highest rating for a Bond film not featuring Sean Connery. One satisfied viewer left a five-star Google Review, echoing the critic's sentiments: "A James Bond masterpiece... Casino Royale could hold the title of being the greatest James Bond film ever made!". "Like the 'Vesper Martini' it invents, the film is a rich, flavourful, and perfectly measured concoction that brings together every single right ingredient into a work of greatness!". Another viewer hailed it as the best film they had ever seen, commenting: "I've seen plenty of films of different types and genres, so this certainly isn't an 'apples-to-apples' comparison but nonetheless, Casino Royale is one of, if not, the greatest film I've seen in my life. "Daniel Craig begins his Bond franchise with a bang and as an incredible lead, obviously, but still, what truly makes this movie the most outstanding is all the other actors in combination."

Fringe previews are great time to catch cut-price world class stand-up comedy

Jack Traynor: Before I Forget (work in progress) is on June 29 - 8.30-9.30pm at Dragonfly, 52 West Port, Edinburgh Edinburgh is so saturated with live comedy in August that many people in the city are either unaware of the year-round scene or simply don't have the appetite for laughter for 11 months. But June and July are a good time to catch a show at a bargain price. Sign up to our daily newsletter Sign up Thank you for signing up! With only five weeks to go until the start of this year's Fringe, this is an ideal time to catch local Scottish comedy talent previewing their work before the city is swamped with performers from down south and overseas. The Scottish comedy scene is going through a boom period right now. There are probably more world-class stand-ups per head of population in the central belt than in any other part of the UK, if not the world. We can lose sight of this in August when Edinburgh hosts the world's biggest arts festival, and major international names with huge publicity budgets take up all the poster space on The Mound. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad If you are not sure what see at the Fringe, go to see one of the midweek shows at the city's three year-round venues. The Stand have a regular work-in-progress night called WIPLash, Monkey Barrel have their Best Of Fringe show on a Thursday and The Comedy Attic hosts a new material gig every Tuesday. At this time of year, the line-ups will include some top Scottish talent road-testing their festival routines. If you see someone you like, go back and watch their full show at The Fringe. Also, rather than adding to Underbelly's obscene profits, catch a show at The Stand, Monkey Barrel or The Scottish Comedy Festival. There is also a fair sprinkling of local talent on show at The Gilded Balloon. The added bonus to seeing shows at one of these venues is that the money is not syphoned off into some offshore bank account, it is re-invested in the city. This weekend, local promoters Good Egg Comedy are launching their month-long season of Fringe previews at The Dragonfly on West Port. I am doing my show there tomorrow evening and Good Egg are offering a limited number of tickets for £2, a fraction of what you'll be paying. What else can you get for two quid? That's less than the bus fare.
