Rohit, now focused solely on One-Day Internationals, next cricketing assignment is scheduled for August, when India tours Bangladesh for a three-match ODI series starting on August 17.
A year ago it was under Rohit Sharma's captaincy that India ended their 13 year long wait to win an ICC Trophy.
'Barbados will forever be in my veins. This is the proudest moment of my cricketing career. To lift that trophy, to be crowned ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 Champions—it was surreal.
I played in the inaugural 2007 T20 World Cup and we won under MS Dhoni's captaincy. And now, to win it again with Rahul Dravid as head coach—it meant everything to this group.
'We've seen heartbreak. We've come so close. That's why this one was so special. We worked and planned relentlessly—every day. And when we finally won, all the emotions came pouring out. The younger players, especially those playing their first World Cup, realised how hard it is to win one.
Nothing can be taken for granted. It was magical,' said Rohit to JioHotstar.

What was going through his mind before taking the field for the final, which also became his last game for India in T20Is after the championship glory was achieved? Rohit admitted that he didn't sleep well in the night before the final and nervous energy led to him waking up much earlier than expected.
'Thirteen years is a long time. Most people don't even have a 13-year career.
So, to wait that long to win a World Cup… the last one I won was in 2007. For me, it couldn't have gotten any bigger than this. I didn't sleep the whole night. I was only thinking about the World Cup. I was nervous. I couldn't feel my legs. Did I feel nerves? Of course.
'I just don't show it—but inside, it was a lot. We were supposed to leave around 8:30 or 9 in the morning. But I woke up at 7. From my room, I could see the ground and just kept watching it. I remember thinking—'In two hours, I'll be there. And in four hours, the result will be out. Either the Cup will be here or it won't."

New Delhi [India], June 30 (ANI): Former India skipper MS Dhoni's application to trademark the phrase 'Captain Cool', which has been associated with him due to the calm demeanour that he maintains on the field, has been officially accepted and published by the Trademark Registry of India, according to ESPNcricinfo. The trademark will granted if any third party does not object within 120 days of the acceptance of the trademark, which was on June 16 this year. The trademark has been filed under the categories related to sports training, coaching, and the provision of sports training facilities and services. According to ESPNcricinfo, Dhoni had applied in June 2023 but was informed by the registry that Prabha Skill Sports (OPC) Private Limited had already registered the trademark 'Captain Cool'. In reply, Dhoni filed a rectification petition for the cited mark, alleging that the company was attempting to exploit his brand and the term's popularity. 'This is a case of bad faith registration on the part of the company, aimed at deceiving the public and unlawfully enriching themselves by trading on the name of a well-known individual,' Dhoni stated in his application. The 43-year-old's application was accepted after at least four hearings. Dhoni was last seen in action while leading the Chennai Super Kings in the 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He took over the captaincy midway through the tournament after designated skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out of the tournament due to an injury. Chennai finished at the bottom of the table for the first time in 16 seasons, which summed up their disappointing season. During his international stint, from lifting India's first T20 World Cup in 2007 with a young, untested squad to guiding the Men in Blue to a historic 2011 ODI World Cup win at home and adding the Champions Trophy in 2013, Dhoni remains the only captain in cricket history to win all three ICC white-ball trophies. Global players' union: Weather issues cloud Club World Cup
Players are contacting the international players' union to voice growing concern over matches played when maximum temperature allowances are exceeded during the Club World Cup, FIFPRO said Monday. HT Image The global players' union argued intense heat should have resulted in the postponement of matches between Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid and between Chelsea-Esperance because gametime temperatures rose above the Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) of 28 degrees. FIFA's guidelines mark 32 degrees as the recommended limit. Dr. Vincent Gouttebarge, the medical director for the union, said the factor is readily prevalent in midday games during the summertime, and is a concern again this week and into the 2026 World Cup. "Obviously we have a threshold where the game should be postponed and rescheduled," Gouttebarge said. "The answer is quite straightforward, of course. The threshold? It is a WBGT of 28 degrees. According to our position, these games should have been postponed to a better place in the day and, if not available (to be played later), then rescheduled."
