Tommy Fleetwood has spoken out about his wife and manager who is 23 years older than him
Tommy Fleetwood, who will be part of Rory McIlroy's group for the first two rounds at The Open, has spoken openly about his relationship with wife and manager, Clare Tommy Fleetwood once confessed his life with manager-wife Clare is not what most people would describe as 'normal'. The 34-year-old, who begins his Open Championship campaign at Portrush on Thursday, married Clare, 23 years his senior, in 2017. She had been his manager before their relationship took a romantic turn. Due to the significant age difference, Clare initially resisted his advances before they eventually got together. They have one child together, Frankie, while Clare has two children from a previous marriage. Tommy credits Clare for positively impacting his life both on and off the course. Speaking ahead of the 2018 Ryder Cup at Le Golf National, he spoke warmly of the couple's preparations for the tournament and her passion for Manchester City. Everton supporter Fleetwood told The Telegraph:"We had a lovely time searching for a dress for the gala dinner. "She's a big Man City fan and she's going to bring a little bit of north-west football fannage to the Ryder Cup." He then added: "No, I don't think we've ever been called the norm." The couple have successfully juggled their personal and professional lives after Clare considered stepping back from her managerial role. But after testing the waters, they decided to continue their player-manager arrangement. Tommy said: "It works very well. I do as I'm told when needed to. When we started, we obviously never knew how it was going to go, and I think we were always open to the idea if it didn't work, then we'd try something else. But luckily for us, we get on so well. "I guess it's our relationship in a way, but we've not had any trouble yet. But then, my entire backroom is formed with people I class as friends first and colleagues second. It's just the way I am." They set a six-month trial period after considering other management possibilities for Tommy. Reflecting on their decision during the couple's appearance on the Performance People podcast in 2023, Clare said: "As we were sat there listening to different proposals, I'm like, 'I can do this.' "But I just for some reason at the beginning thought I couldn't and I shouldn't. Then we gave it six months, and it worked, so we carried on." Clare also delved into how they strike a balance between business and pleasure, adding: "I talk about work a lot, I can't help it, but I do make a conscious effort [to switch off]. I can see sometimes in his face that he's had enough, which is quite often! "We put an office in the house and if I need to talk to him about work, he'll come in. The only thing we needed to get right was me not talking about work all of the time. "Tommy's happier going off reading a book, listening to podcasts, he meditates. I'll go off to work if I've got a spare hour. That's my weakness in a way. It was never the plan to work together." Tommy will be in a star-studded group containing home hero Rory McIlroy and Justin Thomas for the first two rounds at Portrush. The trio are late-starters in round one, teeing off at 3.10pm.

Prince George's old-school nickname for Prince William at Wimbledon spotted by lip reader
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info A lip reader has revealed that Prince George affectionately referred to his father, Prince William, as 'Papa' during their visit to Wimbledon today (July 13). The father and son were spotted in the Centre Court's royal box, where they watched Carlos Alcaraz play against Jannik Sinner. During the match, the young prince reportedly asked William: "Papa... is that where the players walk out down there?" William, 43, confirmed his son's query with a simple: "Yeah, it is yeah." It's not the first time the children have used the endearing term 'Papa'; for Father's Day in 2024, a social media post featuring William hugging his kids was captioned: "We love you, Papa. Happy Father's Day. G, C and L." (Image: Karwai Tang, WireImagevia Getty Images) Additionally, the lip reader decoded an earlier interaction between George, his sister Princess Charlotte, and Wimbledon men's doubles champions Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool. The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, also 43, enquired about the pair's playing history before informing her children: "Wow, how about that? So, they only just started playing together ten months ago. "And go on to win Wimbledon." Charlotte expressed her amazement with an excited "Oh, wow." George gave a more relaxed response, "Mmm nice, yeah." Their mother then added: "Not bad is it." (Image: Getty Images) Charlotte is an avid tennis enthusiast, and royal commentator Ingrid Seward has previously shared with The Sun: "Charlotte has always loved tennis, and mum Kate took her to Hurlingham when she was quite young to play tennis there. "Tennis is a big family thing on both sides." Princess Kate, who holds the role of patron for the All England Lawn Tennis Club, was present at Wimbledon yesterday, witnessing the women's singles final clash between Iga Swiatek and Amanda Anisimova. The mother-of-three, currently in remission from cancer, was honoured with a standing ovation, and lip-reading expert Jeremy interpreted her response as: "Sweet, very nice to hear!"

Kate ushers in 'new era' for monarchy as she abandons tradition at Wimbledon
The Princess of Wales has attended Wimbledon for a second day, bringing Prince William, Prince George, and Princess Charlotte along for the men's finals on Sunday The Prince and Princess of Wales beamed as they arrived at the All England Club for the men's Wimbledon finals this afternoon, but according to a body language expert, their appearance speaks volumes about their relationship dynamic. 'This very charming and unequivocal role-reversal by William and Kate showed beyond doubt how much the new era of monarchy will be based on equality rather than traditional status,' Judi James, speaking on behalf of VBET ( explains. Prince George, 11, and Princess Charlotte, 10, also attended the games alongside their parents, dressed in their Sunday best as they greeted officials. Kate has been patron of the All England Lawn and Tennis Club, also known as the AELTC (which organises the day-to-day running of the prestigious tournament), since 2016. Judi believes it was clear this was 'Kate's event,' with William and their children 'very much her 'plus ones'.' As the family arrived at SW19, Kate was shown confidently greeting officials and engaging in lively conversation. William, meanwhile, walked behind with George and Charlotte, 'very much bringing up the rear,' says Judi. Far from any sign of tension, Judi observed that William's choice of outfit - a perfectly tailored blazer, tie and pocket square - appeared to be a subtle homage to the occasion and to his wife. 'His outfit showed loyalty and respect,' she said. 'Dressing for the occasion like this emphatically showed total respect for his wife and an ongoing desire to please her. Royal men tend to dominate the style mood of any event they appear at, but William's unique outfit here looked like an homage to both Wimbledon and to his wife.' In her striking cobalt blue dress, Kate took centre stage as she chatted with ease and introduced her family. 'There was an air of increased confidence here as she instigated conversations and turned occasionally to her family to explain details and introductions,' Judi adds. Meanwhile, William's body language projected a calm and supportive presence. 'He looked like a very compliant and proud 'plus one' to his wife here, with his hands clasped in front of his torso as he chatted. His eyelid-stutters and cut-off rituals hinted at a more passive approach than his confident and very popular wife.' Judi also noted that this dynamic is particularly significant for the monarchy's future. 'He even seems happy walking in her shadow. For him, it seems a matter of utter pride,' she adds. The Princess also attended Wimbledon solo on Saturday, presenting the trophy at the women's final. She sported her ' Wimbledon bow' - a brooch featuring the tournament's iconic colours - which it's believed she has worn every time she has visited Wimbledon.
