Thurs 27 1-2pm: 'History Hash Outs— Cultural Diplomacy on the Eve of War: The 1939 New York World's Fair", a talk by James J. Fortuna, Associate Lecturer in U.S. History at the University of St Andrews, on Cultural Diplomacy on the Eve of War: The 1939 New York World's Fair. Promoted as the 'last best chance for peace,' the 1939 World's Fair in New York offered foreign governments a platform to showcase their geopolitical perspectives through national pavilions and exhibits. While often dismissed as sites of entertainment or commerce, this talk reveals how the Fair functioned as an international forum where nations used cultural displays to advance foreign policy goals.

The night is titled "The Earth Speaks Arabic", his immortal cry in his era and the eras after him.. And his daughter Amira Sayed Makkawi, and many fans will enlighten the event. A night in the lap of creativity of our master Sheikh Sayed, Egypt's most popular mesaharaty (mobile drummer) in Ramadan.

Apr 14, 2025 Brazilian pop performer Rodrigo Teaser, renowned for his uncanny vocal and visual resemblance to Michael Jackson, is set to headline 'Michael Jackson Lives Forever' at Dubai Opera on Saturday, September 7th. The full-scale tribute show is presented by Moments Events and billed as one of the world's most authentic Michael Jackson experiences. Joining Teaser on stage are two of Jackson's own collaborators: Lavelle Smith Jr., the choreographer behind many of the pop icon's signature dance routines, and Jennifer Batten, the trailblazing guitarist who toured with Jackson during his Bad, Dangerous, and HIStory world tours. Audiences can expect a high-energy setlist featuring MJ's biggest hits—from 'Billie Jean' and 'Thriller' to 'Smooth Criminal' and 'Black or White'—brought to life through meticulous choreography, costume replicas, and a full supporting cast of dancers and musicians. Tickets for the one-night-only event are available via PlatinumList, with prices starting at AED 295. Doors will open at 7:30 PM.

Mohamed Emam to Participate in Ramadan 2026 with TV Series "Al Malek"

Yara Sameh Egyptian actor Mohamed Emam is set to participate in the Ramadan 2026 drama marathon with the TV series "Al Malek". Emam was initially set to participate last Ramadan with the drama, but was pushed back to next Ramadan due to a conflict in the shooting schedule and the enormity of the project, which required shooting in multiple countries and a lot of preparation. "Al Malek" hails from director Shereen Adel and scriptwriter Mohamed Salah El Azab. Emam made his last participation in the marathon with the 2024 TV series " Cobra ". The cast also includes Magdy Kamel, Mahmoud El-Bezzawy, Hesham Ismail, Alaa Morsy, Menna Fadaly, Donia Maher, Mohamed Tharwat, Mahmoud Abdel Moghny, Ahmed Fathy, Alhan El Mahdy, Ayman Azab, Ahmad Bahr (Kozbara), Mai Ezz Eldin, Salwa Othman, Weaam Magdy, Mohamed Osama "Osos", and more. The series is scripted by Ahmed Mahmoud Abou Zeid, directed by Ahmed Shafek, and produced by the Synergy production company. "Cobra" consists of 15 episodes and screened during the second half of the Ramadan 2024 drama marathon. Emam, born on December 16, 1984, comes from an artistic family as his father is 'El Zaeem' actor Adel Emam, and the younger brother of director Rami Emam. He went to Jesuit school before he entered the American University in Cairo. Emam studied theater and acted in many roles at the university including 'Atawa in El Maghmati' play directed by Mahmoud El Lozy. Emam first began his acting career as a child, co-starring alongside his father in the 1990 film 'Hanafi El Abha' (The Magnificent Hanafi). His first role as an adult was in the 2003 TV series 'Kanaria and Shorkah'. Emam's first film as the main protagonist was 'Al Beeh Romansy' (The Romantic Bey) in 2009. His TV credits include "El Nemr", 'Hogan', 'Lam'yy El Ott','Saheb El Saada','Firqat Naji Atallah','Khatout Hamra", 'Bilshama'a El Ahmar', and 'Khatut Hamra'. A volume that explores Christian-Islamic cultural exchange in the medieval Mediterranean through material culture—textiles, metalwork, architecture and more—revealing how faiths intermingled across regions. Thirteen scholars examine cross-religious artifacts, shared artistic practices and the movement of objects and craftsmen from Spain to Georgia. The book editors Giosa and Vryzidis, will be in conversation with Alison Ohta, Director of the Royal Asiatic Society of Great Britain and Ireland. A Q&A session with the audience will follow the book discussion.
