Hamilton's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is the cover athlete of NBA 2K26 following his MVP and title-winning season, the video game's developer announced Tuesday. Article content Last season's scoring champ and finals MVP will be featured on the game's standard edition. The Canadian averaged 32.7 points, 6.4 assists and five rebounds per game, leading the Thunder to a 68-14 record. They beat the Indiana Pacers in seven games to win the NBA title. Gilgeous-Alexander was awarded last week for his stellar season with a record-setting 4-year, $285 million extension. Article content A release date for NBA 2K26 has yet to be announced. The game is expected to launch in September. Article content The NBA 2K cover athlete last year was Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum, who also was featured after his team won the championship. Article content The cover athlete announcement comes after 2K Games teased its plans to get back into the college basketball gaming market. It wasn't clear whether the developer wants to revive its long-dormant college basketball franchise or incorporate college hoops into its NBA franchise. Article content '2K is the undisputed home of basketball gaming,' 2K Games said in a statement to The Associated Press last week. 'We have a strong history with college hoops and are exploring exciting new ways to bring athletes and schools to life. Class is in session.'

‘Living the dream': Edmonton's Nathan Fillion basks in Superman co-starring role
Nathan Fillion spoke with Etalk at the world premiere of the new 'Superman' movie. He says his superfan was a teacher from Edmonton. Edmonton-born actor Nathan Fillion is living out a childhood dream playing a super hero in the new Superman movie. Fillion attended the world premiere of the film on Monday night at the TCL Theater in Los Angeles. Fillion stars as the Green Lantern in the James Gun remake of the DC Universe's man-of-steel film. The cast is led by David Corenswet in the titular role of Clark Kent/Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as the villainous Lex Luthor. 'This is crazy. I had a comic book back in my room when I was a kid,' Fillion told an Etalk reporter on the red carpet. 'I was steeped in all of this stuff and here I am.' He added that he is 'living the dream' as an actor who gets to do what he loves. 'All the stuff I got in trouble for as a kid – daydreaming, drawing in the margins of my binders when I should have been studying or taking notes – and who's laughing now.'
