‘Les Misérables: World Tour Spectacular' coming to Manila in January 2026
Titled Les Misérables: World Tour Spectacular, the production is presented by Cameron Mackintosh, Nick Grace Management, and GMG Productions, and coincides with the show's 40th anniversary at London's Sondheim Theatre.
'We're beyond thrilled to bring this monumental show back to Manila. This time in a groundbreaking, never-before-seen format,' said Carlos Candal, CEO of GMG Productions.
'Filipino audiences have always shown incredible passion for world-class theater, and we know 'Les Misérables: World Tour Spectacular' will be unlike anything they've experienced before,' he added.
The touring version, expanded from the West End's record-breaking Staged Concert, features new set and lighting designs and a cast and crew of over 110, including an international all-star lineup and Filipino musicians performing live on stage. Casting will be announced soon.
The show will run from January 20 to February 15, 2026. Tickets go on sale to the public on August 11 via TicketWorld.

Frankie Pangilinan rules out entering politics
Singer and online personality Frankie Pangilinan said she has no plans to enter politics, despite being vocal about national issues in the past. In an interview with Boy Abunda, Pangilinan, daughter of Senator Francis 'Kiko' Pangilinan and actress Sharon Cuneta, clarified that political engagement does not equate to political ambition. 'It is really just tao pong Pilipino na nais pong magbago ang mga problema sa Pilipinas and I think that's just really just it, bilang mamamayang Pilipino and hindi po bilang anak ng sino man,' she added. She also shared that she had to take a step back from social media after realizing the weight of her platform. While many young people use social media freely, she said she had to reassess her role online. 'It is more of like realizing I didn't want to be the mouthpiece of movements that I shouldn't be the mouthpiece for,' Pangilinan said. Despite stepping back, Pangilinan stressed that she will continue to speak out when necessary, though more selectively.

Video: 1 dead, 6 injured after fireworks fail at Egyptian star Mohamed Ramadan's concert
In a tragic incident on July 31, a young man passed away at a Mohamed Ramadan concert after pyrotechnics failed. The Egyptian star was holding a concert at Golf Porto Marina in Egypt, when the fireworks system begin to malfunction. This malfunction caused sparks to shoot straight into the crowd, as concertgoers could be seen ducking away from the embers in several viral videos. According to Al Khaleej, a man passed away in the incident and many others were injured. The deceased was a 23-year-old man, who died in cardiac arrest. Six others suffered from varying injuries, including burns and wounds. As soon as the fireworks sytem malfunctioned, the star reportedly stopped his concert to ensure that concertgoers exit the venue safely and to avoid a stampede-like situation. The company responsible for the pyrotechnics confirmed that all legal permits were in order. Authorities are still investigating the incident.
