Sixers legend Julius Erving ranked No. 20 best player of all-time
This edition focuses on Erving who's No. 6 uniform hangs from the rafters from the Wells Fargo Center due to the amazing things he has done for the Sixers. In 11 seasons for Philadelphia, Erving averaged 22.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 3.9 assists and won the 1981 MVP award. He led the Sixers to their last title back in 1983.

The Julius Erving resume looks ridiculous when combining his body of work in the ABA and NBA. He is one of nine players to clear 30,000 points, and one of just six players with at least four MVP awards, joining Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain, LeBron James, Michael Jordan and Bill Russell—a veritable who's who of top-10-all-time candidates.
Decades upon decades later, Dr. J highlights still pop. The one-handed finishes are crafty and seemingly feature infinite hang time. His game was equal parts smooth and flashy but teeming with MVP-caliber substance.
If you can't bring yourself to combine his two resumes, you should at least appreciate that he was the face of two separate leagues, accomplishing enough in each of them to earn a Hall of Fame nod even if he hadn't played in the other.
Erving is one of the best players in the history of the game and arguably the best player in Sixers history--although there are others who can stake that claim as well. Either way, No. 20 sounds about right for him in the history of the game.

Rob Pelinka comments on LeBron James' future with the Lakers
At a press conference on Saturday, Rob Pelinka, the Los Angeles Lakers' general manager, announced that Luka Doncic had agreed to a contract extension. According to ESPN, the extension will last for three years and pay the superstar $165 million. Several of Doncic's teammates were present for the press conference, but LeBron James wasn't. Over the last several weeks, some have speculated that he and his camp are unhappy that he isn't the centerpiece of the franchise anymore and that it has instead started to build around the 26-year-old Doncic. James exercised his player option for the 2025-26 season, and it is widely expected that he will start the new season as a member of the Lakers. Pelinka was asked at Saturday's presser about the relationship between the organization and James' camp. "All the interactions we've had with LeBron and his camp, Rich [Paul] in particular, have been positive and supportive," Pelinka said. "The dialogue with [Paul] has been open and constant." The executive was also asked if he thinks the 40-year-old will retire as a Laker. "I think the number one thing we have to do there is respect he and his family's decision in terms of how long he's going to play," Pelinka said. "We want to respect his ability to come up with his timetable on that. I think that's really important. But, if he had a chance to retire a Laker, that would be great." When James decided to opt in to his player option on June 29, Paul issued a statement where he said the two want to "evaluate what's best" for James moving forward. Many interpreted that portion of the statement as a prelude to a trade request, but Paul has insisted that neither he nor James has asked the Lakers for a trade. Nets ranked as worst team in Eastern Conference by NBA.com
The Brooklyn Nets were one of the more active teams in the NBA this offseason as they are looking to tweak their roster while planning for the future. Brooklyn is still in the early stages of its rebuild so the team isn't necessarily looking to make it to the playoffs next season, but the view of the team from pundits suggests that next season could be a tough one. John Schuhmann recently published his power rankings for every team in the Eastern Conference and in his list, he had the Nets ranked as the worst team in the conference following their offseason moves. The most notable moves that Brooklyn made was selecting five players in the 2025 NBA Draft and trading Cam Johnson to the Denver Nuggets for forward Michael Porter Jr. and a 2032 first-round pick. One of the more interesting parts about the Nets' performance during the 2024-25 season is that they finished with a 26-56 record despite beginning the campaign with a 9-10 record, putting them on pace to finish slightly below 40 wins on the season. Given that Brooklyn was hoping to get a high draft pick in the 2025 Draft, they eventually traded Dennis Schroder to the Golden State Warriors to start what would eventually be a harder push to the rebuild. Whether or not the Nets are hoping to improve on their record from the 2024-25 campaign, they are still hoping to improve on both sides of the floor, especially when it comes to efficiency on the offensive end. "They took 24% of their shots, the league's highest rate, in the last six seconds of the shot clock, according to Second Spectrum tracking. Their effective field goal percentage of 44.2% in the last six seconds ranked 25th," Schuhmann noted. As it stands, the Nets will be heading into next season with Nic Claxton at center, Porter at one of the forward spots, Egor Demin at point guard, and presumably Cam Thomas at the shooting guard spot. Brooklyn will be hoping that their rookies and young players make strides over the course of what could be another rough season from a wins and losses perspective. "Over the last 20 years, the 2014-15 Sixers had the highest percentage of their minutes (37%) that went to rookies, and only one of their nine rookies was a first-round pick. The Nets could certainly challenge that mark and maximize their odds for a higher selection than they got this year," Schuhmann wrote.
