Aamir Khan Calls Son Junaid 'Nepo Kid', Roasts Himself Over Thugs of Hindostan Flop
After a successful theatrical run, Aamir Khan's film Sitaare Zameen Par will be available to watch on YouTube. Rather than partnering with major streaming services like Netflix or Hotstar, Aamir will release the film on his YouTube channel, Aamir Khan Talkies. Viewers can enjoy the movie, featuring Genelia Deshmukh, at home for Rs 100! To announce the release of the film on YouTube, Aamir enlisted the help of his sons, Junaid Khan and Azad Rao Khan. They featured in a hilarious video that shows Aamir hilariously calling Junaid a 'nepo kid', while also roasting his own films 'Thugs Of Hindostan' and 'Laal Singh Chaddha'.
Aamir Khan creatively announced Sitaare Zameen Par's YouTube release with a humorous skit inspired by his film Andaz Apna Apna (1994). The video starts with Aamir entering his kitchen and reprimanding his cook for downloading and watching the film on his phone. The cook mentions that Junaid Khan has devised a new plan. Aamir then finds Junaid, who reenacts a scene from Andaz Apna Apna where Aamir discusses selling their salon to start a bangle business.
Before Junaid reveals that Sitaare Zameen Par is now on YouTube, he recites his father's famous line: 'Aaj mujhe ehsaas hua, ki aap purush hi nahi, maha purush hain!" Aamir then jokes about his financial losses from Thugs of Hindostan (2018) and Laal Singh Chaddha (2022). Scolding his son Junaid, Aamir said, 'Jab jab tu khush hua hai, tab main barbaad hua hu. Pehli dafa tu khush hua tha, tune kaha tha, 'Pitaji, multi-starrer karlo'. Maine Thugs Of Hindostan kar li. Aaj tak gaaliyan khaa raha hu. (Every time you were happy, I was ruined. The first time you were happy, you told me, 'Dad, do a multi-starrer.' So, I did Thugs of Hindostan. And since then, the backlash hasn't stopped)."
When Junaid says he turned down a Rs 100 crore offer and opted for YouTube release, Aamir angrily exclaims, 'Nikamme! Namakool! Nepo kid! Yeh kya kiya tune?" Azad Rao Khan then peeks in to see them arguing and shuts the door with the release date on it: August 1.
