Michelle Pfeiffer Will Lead 'Yellowstone' Spin-Off 'The Madison'
Per The Hollywood Reporter, The Madison's official plot description is 'a heartfelt study of grief and human connection following a New York City family in the Madison River valley of central Montana.'
Although this logline points to a cast of characters apart from the Duttons, the Dutton line could still make an appearance, given their continued presence in Montana. As the Yellowstone season 5 finale outlines, Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and her husband, Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser), now run a ranch in Dillon, Montana. They even have their own spin-off teed up with Paramount. Shall we take bets on a cross-over episode or two?
In November 2024, Yellowstone and The Madison director Christina Alexandra Voros told Variety that 'the common ground' between the two shows 'is the landscape. We are in Montana, but it is seen through a completely different lens, so it feels like another facet of this cut stone that has been polished. There are parallels in the scope of landscape and a human being's place in that space, but it's coming at it from a completely different point of view.'
Reports first circulated in 2023 that actor Matthew McConaughey would lead The Madison (then titled 2024) following Kevin Costner's contentious departure from Yellowstone. But that deal never came to light, and instead, actress Michelle Pfeiffer was eventually announced in 2024 as The Madison's lead actress.
She will star alongside Matthew Fox, Patrick J. Adams, Beau Garrett, Ben Schnetzer, Amiah Miller, and Elle Chapman.
The Madison is currently filming in Texas, but Paramount has yet to announce a release date for the series.

'We shot that in 2007, and I remember I was doing a movie in North Carolina with quite possibly the worst director to ever direct. Ironically, because of that the movie never came out.' He continued, 'Because of that, the movie went over and I had to pull out of 'Hurt Locker.' They offered it to somebody else, and he said no because it wasn't enough money.' Despite Mackie being tied up with the other film, the production offered him the role again and was willing to wait until he wrapped the unreleased project. 'I went from this sucky director who had no business in being in the business or in the director's chair to Kathryn Bigelow,' Mackie said. 'The moment I landed in Amman, Jordan, we hit the ground running [with] cultural research, military research, character studies – the real work a director does. It really was poignant to me the type of people I want to work with and the type of people who shouldn't be working.' Mackie's performance in 'The Hurt Locker' was a career-defining role as he played Sergeant J.T. Sanborn, a soldier and member of the fictional bomb disposal unit in Baghdad, Iraq. The film received widespread critical praise for its portrayal of the war in Iraq. If you're still reeling from Yellowjackets ' explosive Season 3 finale, you're definitely not alone. That final scene? Chills. And now, with the show officially renewed for a fourth season, fans are buzzing louder than ever about what's next for our favorite (and, let's be honest, slightly terrifying) stranded soccer team—and their adult counterparts. Release Date Rumors: When Will Season 4 Hit Screens? So far, Showtime and Paramount+ haven't dropped a release date for Season 4, but here's what we do know. The Present-Day Timeline The adult timeline is just as tangled. With the deaths of adult Van, Coach Ben, and Lottie, the core group is fractured again. Shauna's growing tension with Melissa (played by Hilary Swank) adds another layer of instability, and Walter's cryptic plotting could become the wild card that changes everything. What's still unclear is how the adult survivors will move forward as their past closes in on them.
