Los Angeles Football Club have emerged as front runners to sign Son, who has only one year left on his Spurs deal.
The club are contractually obliged to field the 33-year-old in their friendly with Newcastle United in Seoul on Sunday. Before then, he is expected to feature when Tottenham play Arsenal at a sold-out Kai Tak Stadium as part of the Hong Kong Football Festival on Thursday.
'Right now, he is here, and we are happy with that,' Frank said at Kai Tak on Tuesday evening. 'He's showing great character, he's in the squad and he trained today. What I'm focusing on is that he is a Tottenham player.'

National Games co-host Hong Kong plots glory as it starts 100-day countdown
After the Hong Kong Football Festival finished on Thursday, the city's attention has turned the major role it will play in staging the 2025 National Games. Saturday marked 100 days until the multi-sports bonanza starts on November 9, with eight competition events being hosted in Hong Kong. Yeung Tak-keung, head of the city's National Games Coordination Office, has acknowledged that potential success on home soil was a factor determining which sports would come to the city. 'One of the considerations is the competitiveness of our athletes,' Yeung said. He identified fencing, rugby sevens, golf and track cycling as likely sources for Hong Kong medals. The city's triathletes, men's handball players, and representatives in beach volleyball and under-22 men's basketball will get a shot at glory in front of hometown support, too. Photo: AFP Announcing last year which sports would come to the city, Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu said: 'The [Hong Kong] government will adhere to the principle of 'simple, safe and wonderful' in organising the Games, making full use of existing venues.' Government estimates forecast 150,000 visitors for the Games would spend at least HK$600 million.

Son Heung-min to quit Spurs, calls it ‘most difficult' decision of his career
After 10 years with Tottenham Hotspur, captain Son Heung-min announced on Saturday that he plans to leave the English Premier League club. At a media conference in Seoul, Son, appearing at times to be holding back tears, said his decision to leave the Spurs was 'the most difficult' of his career and said the club was supporting him as he looks to move on to another team. Spurs will face Newcastle United in a pre-season friendly on Sunday in Seoul in what could be the final match of Son's time at Spurs. He played 15 minutes in his side's 1-0 loss to Arsenal in Hong Kong on Thursday, with his appearance drawing one of the biggest cheers of the evening at Kai Tak Stadium. 'Before we start the press conference, I just want to share the information that I have decided to leave the club this summer,' Son said. 'Respectfully, this club is helping me to my decisions. So I just wanted to share this information before we start the conference. 'I came to North London as a kid, 23 years old, very young age, a young boy came to London who even didn't speak English and leaving this club as a grown man is a very, very proud moment.' Spurs captain Son to leave this summer
Spurs captain Son to leave this summer Son Heung-min says he needs a new environment to push himself. File photo: Reuters Tottenham captain Son Heung-min said on Saturday that he intends to leave the club this summer after a decade in north London. The 33-year-old attacker joined the Premier League side from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015 and went on to play more than 450 times for Spurs. In May he lifted the Europa League trophy but he had a poor season overall by his high standards and struggled with injury. "Before we start the press conference I wanted to say I have decided to leave the club this summer," the South Korean said in Seoul, where Tottenham are on a pre-season tour after Hong Kong. "Respectfully the club is helping me with this decision." Son, who has scored 173 goals for Spurs, did not say where he intends to go next and cut an emotional figure. "It was the most difficult decision I have made in my career. Such amazing memories. It was so hard to make the decision," he said, flanked by new Tottenham boss Thomas Frank. "I need a new environment to push myself. I need a little bit of change – 10 years is a long time. I came to north London as a kid, 23 years old, such a young age. I leave this club as a grown man, a very proud man." Frank, who joined Spurs from Brentford this summer, paid tribute to the South Korean skipper. "For me, personally, I would have loved to have worked with this fantastic person and player," said the Dane, who took over from the sacked Ange Postecoglou. "He is a true Spurs legend in every aspect, one of the greatest players to play in the Premier League. "It is never easy to find the perfect timing and me coming in from the side, it makes it a bit easier to end on a high." (AFP)
