Euro 2025: England great Lucy Bronze had fractured tibia through entire title-winning tournament
Bronze revealed the extent of her leg injury after playing through the first period of extra time in England's eventual win on penalties over Spain. The game was tied 1-1 before England retained its title, winning the shootout 3-1.
'I'll do anything to play for England, I've always said that,' said the 33-year-old great, who knew of the injury after a May 30 game against Portugal in the Nations League.
'I knew I was in a lot of pain at the end of the season. All the England players knew,' Bronze said of the secret issue.
Bronze was praised for her inspiring "crazy mentality' by England coach Sarina Wiegman.

Former Arsenal goalkeeper, Matt Turner, has completed a transfer from Nottingham Forest to Lyon, only to immediately be sent back on loan to New England Revolution until June 2026. Sheehan eyes new Swansea signing before Boro
Swansea City hope to seal at least one more signing before Saturday's Championship opener at Middlesbrough. The Swans have so far added Cameron Burgess, Ricardo Santos, Ethan Galbraith, Zeidane Inoussa and Bobby Wales while Melker Widell is with them after being loaned back to Aalborg BK after signing in January. However, Swansea's options are limited at centre-back and they are in the market for a striker. Asked if a new signing was on the cards ahead of the trip to Middlesbrough, head coach Alan Sheehan replied: "All going well, yeah. "We are in talks with players, but we are not going to just sign anyone, it's got to be the right fit for the football club in order to make us better. "We've made good quality signings and maybe will make a couple more before the end of the window."
