Euro 2025: England great Lucy Bronze had fractured tibia through entire title-winning tournament
Bronze revealed the extent of her leg injury after playing through the first period of extra time in England's eventual win on penalties over Spain. The game was tied 1-1 before England retained its title, winning the shootout 3-1.
'I'll do anything to play for England, I've always said that,' said the 33-year-old great, who knew of the injury after a May 30 game against Portugal in the Nations League.
'I knew I was in a lot of pain at the end of the season. All the England players knew,' Bronze said of the secret issue.
Bronze was praised for her inspiring "crazy mentality' by England coach Sarina Wiegman.

2 Barcelona stars leave training early with fitness concerns
Two leading members of the first-team setup at La Liga giants Barcelona departed the club's training session on Sunday morning prematurely. This comes owing to respective fitness worries. Hansi Flick's troops were back out on the grass earlier today, ramping up preparations for the campaign ahead once more. This comes with a view to a friendly meeting with FC Daegu on Monday, an outing which will round out the Blaugrana's pre-season tour of Asia. After being given the day off on Saturday, Barca's players were put through a double workout on Sunday. And as alluded to above, along the way, two members of Flick's ranks were forced to bring an early end to their respective sessions. First up was defender Iñigo Martínez: And following suit a short time later was midfielder Fermín López: It has since been assured that neither Iñigo or Fermín have picked up any form of notable injury, albeit with it remaining to be seen if either is risked against Daegu on Monday. Ex Arsenal man sold and immediately loaned back to former club
Former Arsenal goalkeeper, Matt Turner, has completed a transfer from Nottingham Forest to Lyon, only to immediately be sent back on loan to New England Revolution until June 2026. Photo byThe United States international goalkeeper left Arsenal in August 2023 for a fee of around £7.1 million after a single season at the Emirates, where he made seven appearances, all in the Europa League and FA Cup, keeping four clean sheets and conceding four goals. The Gunners had paid around £5.15m for him. His time at Forest started promisingly but errors in high-profile fixtures against Tottenham, Manchester United and the Gunners cost him his place, and he spent last season on loan at Crystal Palace, making only four cup appearances. Matt Turner with Arsenal (via At the start of August, Lyon signed him for around €8 million (£6.9 million) but immediately loaned him to the club where his professional career took off, and where he won MLS Goalkeeper of the Year in 2021. Turner will occupy a Designated Player spot in New England, with the club holding an option to make the move permanent next summer. 'When the opportunity arose to bring Matt Turner back to the Revolution, we were glad to act swiftly to welcome one of the most talented players ever to represent the club,' Sporting Director Curt Onalfo said. 'Matt's talent and leadership will make our squad stronger now and in the future. We look forward to having Matt and his family back in New England.' Photo byHead Coach Caleb Porter added, 'I look forward to welcoming Matt back to the Revolution and I am excited for this opportunity to work with one of the best goalkeepers our league has produced. 'Matt holds himself to an extremely high standard that has led him to success at the international level, in Europe, and of course, in MLS. Matt's shot-stopping quality and overall character and mentality make him a tremendous addition to our goalkeeping corps.' 'It is a privilege to return to the club that launched my career,' Turner said. 'The club that helped me discover who I am as a professional, the club that has always felt like a home away from home. To have the chance to play in front of the Revolution supporters once again is a priceless feeling and one I've never taken for granted. Photo by'My family and I have felt their unwavering support throughout these last three years, and I can't wait to wear the Revolution crest again at Gillette Stadium. I am grateful for this opportunity to earn my place on the field and look forward to winning many more games with the Revolution.' Turner's return to the United States should give him the regular football he needs as he attempts to reclaim the national team's No 1 shirt, having been overtaken by New York City's Matt Freese for the recent CONCACAF Gold Cup. The move marks a quick turnaround for the 31-year-old, who joined Arsenal from New England in 2022, but struggled to establish himself in England, despite being a key figure for the USA at the 2022 World Cup.

Sheehan eyes new Swansea signing before Boro
Swansea City hope to seal at least one more signing before Saturday's Championship opener at Middlesbrough. The Swans have so far added Cameron Burgess, Ricardo Santos, Ethan Galbraith, Zeidane Inoussa and Bobby Wales while Melker Widell is with them after being loaned back to Aalborg BK after signing in January. However, Swansea's options are limited at centre-back and they are in the market for a striker. Asked if a new signing was on the cards ahead of the trip to Middlesbrough, head coach Alan Sheehan replied: "All going well, yeah. "We are in talks with players, but we are not going to just sign anyone, it's got to be the right fit for the football club in order to make us better. "We've made good quality signings and maybe will make a couple more before the end of the window." Swansea's squad remains thin after a long summer leavers list that included Harry Darling, Kyle Naughton, Joe Allen and Lewis O'Brien. "There has been a lot of change, we have done good business, but we will also need to bring in more," said Sheehan. "There's a recruitment strategy with Adam Worth onto us daily. We are as a football club quite active to bring in more players." Swansea have been linked with Wycombe striker Richard Kone, who was left out of their squad for the League One opener at Bradford. "There is a lot of noise about that, but it's not something I would comment on," said Sheehan. Latest Swansea City news, analysis and fan views
