French Open 2025: Djokovic eases into Round of 16 with 99th win in Grand Slam
As 40,000 fans watched Paris St Germain's Champions League final on video screens across the road at the Parc des Princes, the 38-year-old Serbian turned on the style on Court Philippe Chatrier.
Three-times champion Djokovic, bidding for an historic 25th Grand Slam title, was given a thorough workout at times by his 23-year-old opponent but more than matched Misolic's power and always looked in complete control.
Djokovic failed to convert nine break points early on but made the breakthrough for a 4-2 lead after showing incredible defensive skills to retrieve a barrage of smashes.

The Serb saved a break point at 1-2 in the second set and earned applause from the fans as he sportingly dusted his opponent down after Misolic tumbled over and got his sweat-soaked shirt coated in clay.
He soon showed his ruthless side, however, to break serve with a backhand winner as he raced into a two-set lead.
The sixth seed was in no mood for a late night as exploding fireworks and roars rang out from across the road and the third set followed the same pattern as he cruised through to a last-16 clash against Britain's Cameron Norrie.
Having won his 100th title in Geneva in the build-up to Roland Garros, Djokovic is yet to drop a set in three rounds and is looking in the mood for a deep run.
'I'm just hoping to carry on. Every time I step onto this court I'm playing for history,' Djokovic, who showed no sign of the blisters that troubled him in the previous round, said.
Should Djokovic beat Norrie he will surpass his number of career wins at the Australian Open which he has won 10 times and will also maintain his record of reaching the quarterfinals or better at the French Open every year since 2010.

PSG fined by UEFA for fans' misconduct during Champions League final win over Inter Milan
Champions League winners Paris St Germain (PSG) were fined by UEFA on Thursday for their fans' misconduct during the final with Inter Milan in May. PSG, who won the French Ligue One as well, had thrashed the Italian giants 5-0 in the UCL summit clash. The champions were charged after a pitch invasion by supporters, the setting off of fireworks, throwing of objects, damage to property and the display of an inappropriate message. Thousands of PSG fans flooded onto the field after the whistle to celebrate the club's first European Cup triumph, with a large number of supporters from behind the goal spilling onto the pitch, overwhelming stewards who struggled to keep control. In total, PSG were fined 148,000 euros ($169,208.40), with the biggest penalty for the pitch invasion and use of pyrotechnics. UEFA's Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body also issued a ban on PSG's away ticket sales for one UEFA match, suspended for two years. PSG has had one of the best seasons in their history, winning both the Champions League as well as the French League. They also took part in the Club World Cup and had a blistering run to the final where they were humble by Chelsea. In the match vs Inter, Désiré Doué, the 19-year-old French forward, emblematic of the club's new generation, was the chief inspiration and player of the match as PSG recorded the biggest win in a final in the competition's 70-year history. In a scintillating performance, Doué and substitute Senny Mayulu became the third and fourth teenagers to score in a Champions League final following Patrick Kluivert in 1995 and Carlos Alberto in 2004. PSG truly delivered when it mattered after so many setbacks in this competition. If there were any nerves from Luis Enrique's players it did not show as they dominated Inter. It took just 12 minutes for the French champion to go ahead with a move of speed and precision when Vitinha's threaded pass into the box found the feet of Doué. The forward could have shot, but instead slid in Hakimi to tap into an open net. Former Inter player Hakimi muted his celebrations. Eight minutes later and the lead was doubled — more on luck than precision as Doué's shot from the right of the box deflected off Federico Dimarco and past Inter goalkeeper Yann Sommer. He got his second in the 63rd, sliding the ball into the bottom corner when through on goal. Vinicius Junior: ‘I want to leave a legacy that goes beyond football'
Amidst a period of flux, soft speculations of a transfer out Real Madrid under new manager, star forward Vinicius Junior says he is solely focused on the next season and how he wants to leave a legacy beyond the grass, green baize. He tells GQ in an interview: 'I've already achieved a lot, but my dreams are far from over. I want to win more trophies with my club, win the biggest competitions with the national team, and continue inspiring the next generation to believe in themselves. My biggest dream is to leave a legacy that goes beyond football, especially with all the work I'm doing through my foundation to improve the education system in Brazil.' The 25-year-old was raised in Sao Goncalo, a crammed and nondescript neighbourhood of Rio de Janeiro. Crime and poverty are bedfellows. 'I don't even know where to start. It was so far away that it seemed impossible to get here. I was a kid who only played football barefoot on the streets of São Gonçalo, close to poverty and crime. Getting here is something very important to me,' he had once said. So he wants to be a role model for millions of aspiring footballers from remote nooks of the world. 'I take the responsibility of being a role model very seriously. Being a role model is about setting the right example. I try to stay focused, humble, and remember where I come from. Ultimately, I want to show people that, with hard work and respect, anything is possible,' he said. 'Playing at this level, for the biggest club in the world and for my national team, still feels like a dream. I know my journey inspires others, especially kids coming from where I'm from. And, of course, Brazilian legends like Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, and Neymar, who represent so much to the Brazilian people and to Brazilian football. They've shown the world the talent and joy we bring to the game,' he revealed. The move to Real Madrid, he says, has been his defining moment of his career. He has worn the most famous shirt in club football 206 times and scored 61 goals, won everything from league title to Champions League. 'I think there have been many defining moments [in my career]. My professional debut with Flamengo, the move to Real Madrid, and then some unforgettable memories in the biggest competitions, like scoring in two Champions League finals. Each one of them has shaped who I am as a player and as a person,' he said. But he keeps himself grounded. '[Celebrating success] is very important. Success is never achieved alone. In football, we all motivate each other to improve, and celebrating each other's achievements helps build a positive and supportive environment. It's about respect and recognising the effort everyone puts in, even if they're on a different team or in a different industry.'
