Bus driver lists five annoying things passengers do – including one common habit

Snoopio is a bus driver in the capital with Arriva and has publicly aired passenger habits that annoy him, such as not having a pass ready before boarding the bus
Taking public transport can sometimes prove to be a stressful experience. Bus drivers, particularly in bustling cities like Edinburgh and Glasgow, aim to complete their routes on time and enjoy hassle-free journeys. However, this isn't always the case.

Sadly, not everyone is blessed with the same good manners as the majority of us, and rude passengers can ruin an otherwise perfectly fine day for all involved. But one bus driver has had enough - and hit out at the impolite, disrespectful and sometimes insulting people that board the buses. Snoopio, who drives for Arriva, has spoken up against rude people who use public transport, revealing his top five most annoying situations while transporting passengers on his routes.

He took to TikTok to share a video outlining five passenger habits that get under his skin.

Top of his list? The kind of people who dilly-dally and don't have their pass or ticket ready before they board. Snoopio pointed out that passengers waiting at a bus stop have ample time to prepare their pass.
This slows down the process, meaning drivers aren't able to move onto the next stop as quickly. He said: 'You know when a passenger's standing up at the stop and they get on a bus and that's when they decide to look for their pass, like the Oyster?

"That is annoying, like what were you waiting for all this time?'
Next on his list is when passengers who have been sprinting for a bus don't appreciate how the driver has slowed down to allow them to catch up. Many people find themselves sprinting for a bus, especially if they're on a tight schedule.
And while drivers don't always wait in these situations, those who do appreciate a simple 'thank you' from passengers who make it onto the bus. That makes it especially irksome, Snoopio says.

He added: "You know when you see a passenger running, I'm like 'ah, I'll stop for them'. You wait for them for a good little while and they get on the bus and don't say thank you. What?
"I'll open the door and say "you're welcome". Have some manners, you know? That's annoying."

Another pet peeve is one that riles anyone on a bus up. Snoopio, who drives in London for Arriva, explains: 'Pressing the bus stop bell several times and no-one gets up for the stop.
"You know how many times I could have been ahead of where I am but you got me stopping, opening doors, letting on ghosts?' He says it's a nuisance when no one disembarks, as this delays the journey.

Another rude and disrespectful thing some passengers do is knock on the window when they want to be let on to the bus. Sometimes, the bus will slow down as it approaches a stop to take up the full stop and avoid edging into the main road.
And while the usual way for passengers at a stop to signal to drivers that they want to board is by extending their arm, some take it took far. Snoopio said: "You know, like when you're just moving up a little bit closer, like just to fill out the whole bus stop and then passengers start knocking on the window?
"Now I'm not stopping. Now I'm going. What are you doing? Why are you knocking?"
Finally Snoopio hit out at would-be "heroes" who inform the driver that someone is rushing to catch the bus. Some even take it further by sticking their leg into the bus door to prevent the drivers from leaving without that person rushing.
He said: "I can see. What are you trying to do, trying to play the hero? What for? For a little thank you? Go and sit down."

Tourists vow 'never again' after major change to holiday hotspot

Booking a summer getaway is a major highlight for many people each year but one popular tourist hotspot has undergone a major change that's got many people vowing to never return Tourists have vowed to 'never again' visit a popular holiday hotspot after it underwent some unwanted changes this year. Jetting off to a sunnier climate is a highlight of many people's summers, with guaranteed sunshine, blue skies and the soothing sounds of the ocean a top priority. ‌ Some European countries have established themselves as firm favourites for British tourists, and regularly top the travel wish list for people of all ages. Whether it's Greece, Spain, France, Italy or Portugal, the continent has an abundance of varied, enticing options to suit all budgets and desires. For some holidaymakers, the destination of choice centres around the availability of bars and clubs, with many keen to take advantage of a thriving nightlife. ‌ This seems to be the case for Albufeira, a popular coastal city based in the southern Algarve region of Portugal. It's famous for its nightlife, with an abundance of accommodation and activities to indulge in. ‌ Recently, however, its iconic strip has drawn some criticism due to how busy it's become - one of the downsides to the city's enduring popularity. One tourist, who works as a DJ in Albufeira, recently shared a video of the packed strip on TikTok and it's put many people off from ever returning to the city. The 11-second clip shows people packed shoulder to shoulder outside the famous bars and nightclubs. Over the top of the footage, the DJ penned the words: ''iS AlbUFeIrA eVEn BuSy?' Have you seen the strip.' ‌ The mix of capital letters with lowercase letters is typically used on social media to convey a mocking tone. In the caption, he simply added: 'How busy is too busy?' ‌ The video racked up more than 754K views, with fellow TikTok users keen to share their thoughts. Lots of people pointed out it seems to be much busier this year than it was last year. One person said: 'Oh my that's some difference from last July,' while another agreed: 'Was nowhere near this last year'. A third shared: 'I was there on Saturday and never again!' A fourth said: 'Canny be enjoyable that'. ‌ Someone else asked: 'is this supposed to make you want to go?' Another TikTok user said: 'Disgusting I can smell the sweat through the screen,' and another simply said: 'No thanks.' However, not everyone had this perspective or experience. One person shared: 'It was the perfect amount of busy last week.' ‌ And another wasn't put off at all: 'Ye looks boss that.' For those keen to avoid the intense crowds, one TikTok user advised: 'Best time for Albufeira is mid May to end of May if [you] don't want to deal with this.' To which the original poster replied: 'Spot on.' Before it became a major holiday destination, Albufeira used to be a sleepy fishing village. Its golden, sandy beaches are varied with some spots busy and bustling, and others offering secluded coves near dramatic cliffs. Despite being renowned for its busy nightlife strip, it's also an ideal destination for families and couples looking for a scenic getaway.

Tiktok hack to get free flight upgrade: does it really work?

One frequent flier has had over 2.5 million views, sharing his top tips to bag a free upgrade when you fly. He says: 'A little charm and confidence go a long way' and advises picking up small gifts like chocolate at the airport and boarding the plane last. "Hand the flight attendants the gifts, with added charisma, as you board, and wait for the magic of a free upgrade to happen." On the post, he's not given an upgrade as such, but his seat is switched to an empty row and he receives free snacks and Champagne, presumably worth more than the value of the snacks. Viewers seem impressed, with one comment saying: "as ex-cabin crew I can confirm this works". But do these Tiktok free upgrade hacks actually work? Amanda Parker at Netflights says: 'The travel hack of buying flight attendants a gift, and sweet-talking them when boarding the plane has gone viral. Kindness will always be appreciated by airline staff, so small gestures like snacks or gifts won't go unnoticed. "However, the chances of receiving a complimentary upgrade just by handing over a box of chocolates might be slim. "Free upgrades are usually determined by strict criteria, including frequent flyer status, ticket class, availability, and airline policies, unfortunately, not by last-minute sweet talk as you board the plane. "The gift and sweet-talk hack may work, so it's worth a try; but, we warn you not to get your hopes up, as these moments are the exception, not the rule. You may just strike lucky if your flight attendant likes chocolate M&Ms." Recommended reading: 3 ways to get a free flight upgrade or (free perks when flying) 1. Join loyalty programmes Passengers are most likely to bag a free upgrade by taking advantage of frequent flyer initiatives. Airlines reward loyal and frequent customers, so take advantage of these deals. Even if you don't fly frequently, some credit cards allow you to earn points that count towards upgrades. Over time, this can significantly boost your chances of an upgrade. 2. Travel in off-peak periods You can increase your chances of upgrades and free perks when traveling in off-peak hours and days. Flights are quieter, so they tend to have more empty seats in Premium cabins, which can increase your chances of being upgraded. It's advised to avoid flying in school holidays and Friday evenings or weekends. Midweek flights at midday are typically quieter flights! 3. Be polite and have good manners Good manners won't guarantee an upgrade, but they never hurt anyone. Always treat flight staff with respect, regardless of whether you want a free upgrade or not. Being kind can make you stand out, so a small gift like chocolates might be remembered, but even if it doesn't come with a seat upgrade, it's a gesture your flight attendant will appreciate.
