Bus driver lists five annoying things passengers do – including one common habit

Daily Record3 days ago
Snoopio is a bus driver in the capital with Arriva and has publicly aired passenger habits that annoy him, such as not having a pass ready before boarding the bus
Taking public transport can sometimes prove to be a stressful experience. Bus drivers, particularly in bustling cities like Edinburgh and Glasgow, aim to complete their routes on time and enjoy hassle-free journeys. However, this isn't always the case.

Sadly, not everyone is blessed with the same good manners as the majority of us, and rude passengers can ruin an otherwise perfectly fine day for all involved. But one bus driver has had enough - and hit out at the impolite, disrespectful and sometimes insulting people that board the buses. Snoopio, who drives for Arriva, has spoken up against rude people who use public transport, revealing his top five most annoying situations while transporting passengers on his routes.

He took to TikTok to share a video outlining five passenger habits that get under his skin.

Top of his list? The kind of people who dilly-dally and don't have their pass or ticket ready before they board. Snoopio pointed out that passengers waiting at a bus stop have ample time to prepare their pass.
This slows down the process, meaning drivers aren't able to move onto the next stop as quickly. He said: 'You know when a passenger's standing up at the stop and they get on a bus and that's when they decide to look for their pass, like the Oyster?

"That is annoying, like what were you waiting for all this time?'
Next on his list is when passengers who have been sprinting for a bus don't appreciate how the driver has slowed down to allow them to catch up. Many people find themselves sprinting for a bus, especially if they're on a tight schedule.
And while drivers don't always wait in these situations, those who do appreciate a simple 'thank you' from passengers who make it onto the bus. That makes it especially irksome, Snoopio says.

He added: "You know when you see a passenger running, I'm like 'ah, I'll stop for them'. You wait for them for a good little while and they get on the bus and don't say thank you. What?
"I'll open the door and say "you're welcome". Have some manners, you know? That's annoying."

Another pet peeve is one that riles anyone on a bus up. Snoopio, who drives in London for Arriva, explains: 'Pressing the bus stop bell several times and no-one gets up for the stop.
"You know how many times I could have been ahead of where I am but you got me stopping, opening doors, letting on ghosts?' He says it's a nuisance when no one disembarks, as this delays the journey.

Another rude and disrespectful thing some passengers do is knock on the window when they want to be let on to the bus. Sometimes, the bus will slow down as it approaches a stop to take up the full stop and avoid edging into the main road.
And while the usual way for passengers at a stop to signal to drivers that they want to board is by extending their arm, some take it took far. Snoopio said: "You know, like when you're just moving up a little bit closer, like just to fill out the whole bus stop and then passengers start knocking on the window?
"Now I'm not stopping. Now I'm going. What are you doing? Why are you knocking?"
Finally Snoopio hit out at would-be "heroes" who inform the driver that someone is rushing to catch the bus. Some even take it further by sticking their leg into the bus door to prevent the drivers from leaving without that person rushing.
He said: "I can see. What are you trying to do, trying to play the hero? What for? For a little thank you? Go and sit down."

Trolls say woman's OTT bed is ‘giving tacky' & ask ‘where do you sleep?' but people explain it's ‘traveller culture'

HOW do you make your bed in the morning? Some opt for nothing more than the pillows they sleep with and their duvet while others prefer to add a few extra decorative cushions and maybe even a throw. 2 But this woman has gone all out with her bed, but some online trolls reckon she has taken it too far. Scarlett Masson took to TikTok to show off the bed in her caravan home and the clip soon went viral, racking up a whopping 6.9 million views. In the viral clip, Scarlett showed what her bed usually looks like before all the extra flourishes are added. She started with a cute fitted sheet with a pink bow print before adding the matching duvet on top, not forgetting to tightly tuck in all the edges. Next she places a huge satin bed throw diagonally across the bed for a touch of luxury. But she didn't stop there, four plump pillows went on to the bed, followed by three huge matching cushions. Another two pillows were then added in front with the same cute bow design, and then another four cushions. By the end of the clip, the cushions came right to the foot of Scarlett's bed. And although there was no denying the bed look comfortable, not everyone was sure it was worth all the effort. One person commented: "The way more pillows kept appearing is taking me out." I'm a gypsy girl - my mum gets up at 4am to clean her chalet "I'm so overstimulated," a second quipped. And a third wrote: "Babe there's nowhere to even sit on that thing, why is it dome shaped?" "I'm sorry but every time you added stuff I laughed harder girl," someone else commented. But others thought the reason for the elaborate bedding was because of Scarlett's traveller roots. In a comment liked by Scarlett, they explained: "For those confused, travellers (or those from a decent) decorate their beds almost as a show piece and as a statement! "Obviously they don't sleep like this but it's essentially the same way you guys make your bed but with more pillows." Meanwhile, others praised Scarlett's OTT design as one wrote: "It's very cute." And someone else said: "You know what, if that makes you feel comfy and cosy in your own home then hell yes. "They're cute af and the mattress topper looks like a cloud." Traditions in the gypsy/traveller communities Nomadic lifestyle: Traditionally, many travellers maintain a nomadic lifestyle, living in caravans and moving frequently. This mobility is a core aspect of their identity, reflecting a deep connection to freedom and independence. Strong family bonds: Family is central to traveller culture. Extended families often live and travel together, providing a strong support network. Marriages and social events are significant community affairs, reinforcing familial ties. Distinct Language: Many travellers speak Shelta, also known as Cant or Gammon, a distinct language that mixes elements of Irish, English, and other languages. This language serves as a cultural marker and a means of private communication within the community. Religious practices: The traveller community often follows Roman Catholicism, with religious festivals and milestones like baptisms, communions, and weddings being particularly significant. However, individual beliefs and practices can vary widely. Unique celebrations: Events such as horse fairs and traditional weddings are major social gatherings for travellers. These occasions are marked by elaborate preparations, vibrant attire, and communal participation.

I've been to 30 countries and there are six cities in Europe I'd never revisit

Megan Arz, who lives in Germany, has visited 30 countries and has a few in Europe that she would not revisit - and some of her choices might surprise you Selecting the ideal holiday destination can prove tricky. With breathtaking coastal resorts across Greece and vibrant metropolitan breaks in Rome, options are plentiful. ‌ Yet one globe-trotter who has explored 30 nations might assist you in refining your selections. Megan Arz, dubbed the 'friendly neighbourhood tour guide', has resided on the continent for approximately six years but reveals there are certain sought-after European cities she wouldn't wish to revisit for different reasons. ‌ Nevertheless, prepare yourself, her assessments are rather scathing and even feature a UK destination. ‌ On TikTok (@meganarztravels), she began her catalogue with a 'semi-obvious' city which is 'so easy to punch down'. "That is Frankfurt, my neighbouring city here in Germany," she remarked. "Frankfurt does lack a lot of character, especially when you compare it to other cities in Germany and smaller towns. It's a banking centre and you can feel that. ‌ "It's the centre of the European Central Bank and it just doesn't have that kind of warm and cosy feeling about it." Beyond this, Megan highlighted the absence of quality local beer and the dominance of bankers - or 'financial bros'. She continued: "It just leads to the sense of like 'eh' - it's not that cool." Remarkably, a renowned Italian tourist destination featured next on her criticism list. Despite her visit occurring some time previously, she condemned the location for its 'cheap souvenirs' and proposed it was rather a 'day trip place' than a week-long holiday spot, reports the Daily Record ‌ Megan continued: "Can't wait for some super defensive Italians in my comments here, but Italy made the list this time around with Pisa. Now, admittedly, I only went to Pisa once and it was quite a while ago, but I don't remember there being anything to do in the town besides see the Leaning Tower of Pisa. "And that whole area around there is so mobbed with like cheap souvenirs and people trying to sell you things and pickpockets, and it just like didn't have a very nice feeling about it." Third on her list was a destination you might not recognise. ‌ Megan disclosed that Kiruna in northern Sweden, which sits practically in 'the middle of nowhere' ranked among her least favourite spots. She continued: "You go there to hunt for Northern Lights and you can visit the original ice hotel here. But honestly, other than that, it's a mining town that's going through a major transition. "[...] But it's an odd place and definitely one of the most forgettable places that I've visited, sorry Kiruna!" ‌ You might be shocked to discover that Prague claimed fourth place on her list. Mass tourism and excessive stag parties were Megan's primary complaints, and she felt she'd experienced everything the city offered in a single visit. "Prague in the Czech Republic [...] it's a city that has a lot of bachelor [and] bachelorette parties and it's suffering a bit from overtourism which leads to this feeling of just like: 'what's going on here?'," she said. ‌ "I've only visited once and while I would consider going back, I would only consider going back if I had a local perspective and someone who could show me other parts of it [...] I was there for five days before and I kind of felt like I saw what I needed to see." Brits might be shocked to learn that the final destination on her list was actually a UK city. Despite enjoying her stay, she described it more as a 'launching pad' for exploring elsewhere. ‌ She disclosed: "The last European city that I probably wouldn't visit again is Inverness in Scotland. I absolutely love Scotland and while I did have a good time in Inverness, it's quite a small city and doesn't have that much to offer from a tourist perspective. "It's a great jumping-off point for seeing the Highlands or visiting Speyside, but honestly after a couple of days there, I feel like I saw everything I needed to see and probably wouldn't come back for a return visit." ‌ Predictably, the assessment sparked a flurry of responses on TikTok, with countless viewers weighing in with their own opinions about each destination. One individual concurred, stating: "I super agree with you on Pisa! I was staying there for a day and I got soooo bored after seeing the leaning tower and main attractions and even that wasn't as impressive tbh." Another added: "Just got back from Inverness and I agree! It's a great place to base yourself to see the Highlands, but the city itself just isn't great." However, not everyone agreed with Megan's perspective. One viewer countered: "I've been to Prague dozens of times and would be glad to visit it again. Love that city!" Another added: "So sad to see Prague here, it's my favourite city I've seen in Europe so far."
